My Lovely Wife is a Forensic Doctor - Chapter 290
Chapter 290 Exposed
“Boss, Miss Yin has gone crazy!”
“She’s gone crazy? What happened?” Qin Jinhuan sounded very surprised.
“Apparently, she’s been crying ever since she woke up—she’s been bawling her eyes out, no less. Not only that, she’s been asking for her sister and brother-in-law to come and protect her. The doctor said that it’s probably a temporary condition from being overly traumatised earlier. He doesn’t know the truth, so he told me to get her whoever she wanted to see to calm her down. He said that it can help…” Then, he finally noticed the discontentment on his boss’s face and quickly corrected himself by saying, “I’ll ask the doctor to give her a sedative instead.”
“Where’s her ward?”
Bian Zijun didn’t expect that question from his boss, so he hastily pointed a finger toward the ground. “She’s in the 8th ward just a floor below.”
Right now, they were on the VIP floor. Naturally, Rong Ying wouldn’t have arranged for Yin Anran to stay on this level without Qin Jinhuan’s special request. He knew that for a fact, so he wasn’t surprised that her ward was on the floor below Mu Yu’s.
He took a look behind him at the latter’s ward. Eventually, he entered the elevator after a round of hesitation.
Yin Anran’s ward was at the end of the corridor, but her loud wailing could be heard from afar. As he approached the room, he could make out the contents of her ear-splitting screams which were accompanied by heavy sobs.
“Why aren’t my sister and brother-in-law here to see me yet? Are you guys lying to me?”
“No, of course not. They’ll be here once you take all your medicine,” a woman’s comforting voice replied patiently. Qin Jinhuan knew that she was probably a nurse.
“You guys are definitely lying to me! I’ve been waiting for such a long time, yet they still aren’t here. They won’t be coming anymore! They’ve abandoned me!”
“No, that’s certainly not it. How could they possibly abandon you? They’ll be here for sure once you take your medicine. Come on now, take it.”
“I don’t want to! I’ve been abandoned by my sister and brother-in-law, so why should I still take my medicine?” She broke into a sob again and wept while saying, “I’m going to find them… I need to ask them why they’ve abandoned me. Let go of me right now! Let me go—I need to find my sister and brother-in-law!”
The nurse could only sigh helplessly. “Miss Yin…”
“Quick, restrain her!”
At that moment, a round of struggling commenced as cries and grunts could be heard coming from inside of the ward.
“Get your hands off of me!” Yin Anran screamed.
……
When Qin Jinhuan pushed open the door, the ward was in total chaos. Chairs were overturned and the blanket was sprawled on the floor. Meanwhile, three medical officers forcefully pinned Yin Anran down on the bed while another one held a syringe, preparing to give her an injection. They were all a little flustered when they noticed Qin Jinhuan’s at the door, for they’d already found out by now that he was the brother-in-law in Yin Anran’s cries.
The man holding the syringe immediately explained in a panic, “Don’t take this the wrong way, Young Master Qin. Miss Yin is refusing to take her medicine and she isn’t in the best state of mind, so that’s why we…”
“I understand.” Qin Jinhuan waved a hand to stop him while he looked toward the woman.
“You’re finally here, Jinhuan! Were you planning to leave me alone? Why didn’t you come earlier?” Yin Anran flung away the hands which were pressing her down and crashed into Qin Jinhuan’s arms. “Jinhuan, don’t leave me alone, okay? I was so scared!”
However, he didn’t return the hug and simply stared at her with a slight frown.
“Young Master Qin, she’s still…” The doctor gestured toward her head before pointing at the pills and glass of water on the table. He reminded Qin Jinhuan softly, “I hope you can give her some comfort and persuade her to take her medicine as soon as possible.”
Qin Jinhuan nodded lightly and said, “You guys can leave now.”
“All right.” The doctor signaled the nurses and left the ward along with them.
Qin Jinhuan turned to Bian Zijun immediately after and said, “You can leave too.”
“Yes.”
He quickly exited the room and closed the door in the process.
With that, Qin Jinhuan and Yin Anran were the only ones left in the ward.
Yin Anran was still crying for Qin Jinhuan to stay with her as she hugged him tight by the waist. She was sobbing uncontrollably, and she looked awfully pitiful at the moment.
Nonetheless, Qin Jinhuan didn’t seem to pity her at all; he even pushed her away harshly.
Yin Anran was momentarily stunned before she quickly crashed into his arms again and continued sobbing. “I’m scared, Jinhuan. Will you take me to Anjing?”
Qin Jinhuan turned a blind eye to her pathetic pleading and tore her away from himself once again. He asked her coldly, “Aren’t you tired from putting on that act for so long?”
A hint of horrified surprise flickered past Yin Anran’s glassy eyes, but it disappeared as quickly as it came. In a split second, she put on a hurt face once more as she grabbed his arm and choked back her tears.
Meanwhile, he took back his arm again and squinted at her emotionlessly. “There’s no one else here, so you don’t have to keep pretending like you’re crazy anymore.”
She tilted her head in a puzzled manner. “Why would you say that, Jinhuan? I don’t get it.”
“I know you do.” There was now an added sense of hatred in his narrowed eyes. “You’re not the only one who’s smart here, so don’t just assume that everyone else is an idiot. There are indeed idiots everywhere, but I’m not one of them.”
“What are you talking about, Jinhuan? I really don’t understand.”
“You seriously believe that your plan to frame the accident on Dong Wanqing was flawless?”
Yin Anran was flabbergasted by his words. She immediately recovered from her insane pretense and explained, “That car crash really had nothing to do with me, Jinhuan! Didn’t you hear from the police? Dong Yueyun orchestrated it with Dong Wanqing’s help! They even have the diamond ring as evidence!”
“The diamond ring, you say?” Qin Jinhuan scoffed. “You should know better than anyone else whether or not Dong Wanqing really lost her ring.”
“I… I’m not sure about that, though. She didn’t tell me about it right after she lost her ring at West Bay. I only found out when she told me about the argument during her search for the ring around the area. However, I have seen her wearing it again after that incident…”
“Are you sure you’ve seen her wearing it after that?”
Yin Anran’s confidence was starting to falter under his tight interrogation. She replied reluctantly, “I think so.”
“She had lost her ring at West Bay, so how could you have seen it?”
“She didn’t lose it! She found it in her bag after everything happened. Just ask Dong Yueyun if you don’t believe me—she told me this herself!”
“That’s just nonsense from her own perspective. Do you really believe any of that?”
“Nonsense? How’s that possible? Losing the ring or not is such a crucial detail, so how could she lie about it?”
Qin Jinhuan didn’t respond to that. Instead, he simply turned Yin Anran’s question against her and asked, “You’ve definitely seen Dong Wanqing’s ring after she lost it, but it wasn’t on her finger. Instead, the ring has been with you all this while. In other words, Dong Wanqing didn’t lose her ring at West Bay by chance at all—you were the one behind it.”
“Jinhuan! How can you say something like that with no evidence?! I can’t afford to be charged with theft and defamation!” The thick layers of bandage on her face made it difficult to make out her facial expressions, but it was obvious that she was panicking from her rushed tone of speech.
“Shall I call Officer Liu over to confirm it personally, then?”
“Officer Liu?! You…” Yin Anran went weak all of a sudden. As she quivered in fear, she leaned against the table. She no longer had the courage to look up at Qin Jinhuan whose face was cold as ice.
Meanwhile, the latter stared at her for a whole 10 seconds before warning her sternly, “Dong Wanqing has already been made your scapegoat, whereas Dong Yueyun and Qin Wentao have both left An City. If you behave yourself and treat Mu Yu respectfully, I’ll turn a blind eye to this for your dead sister’s sake and let it slide. However, if I find you scheming against Mu Yu again, don’t blame me for being heartless. I’ll make sure you die a much more horrible death than Dong Wanqing.”
His voice was flat and emotionless, and his words felt like a gust of chilly wind, making the air around Yin Anran a lot colder all of a sudden. She couldn’t help but shiver harder at the sound of that.
“I’ve already paid off all that I owe to your sister. From now on, I’m no longer related to the both of you, so I don’t want to hear you referring to me as your brother-in-law ever again.”
“But…”
“If you can promise me that, I’ll let you keep your job at Qing Tian Group. Otherwise, don’t let me see you in the company ever again. I’ll give you five seconds to decide. Five… four… three… two… one…”
“I promise!” Yin Anran didn’t give it much thought before responding hastily.
She knew that it would be very difficult to see him in the future, so she didn’t want to lose the only chance to do so.
“What do you promise, exactly?” he asked curtly.
She looked up and locked eyes with his exceedingly tense ones; all of a sudden, she became nervous and stuttered as she said, “W-Whatever you said earlier.”
“Be specific.”
“Um… I promise never to refer to you as my brother-in-law ever again.” Her heart throbbed in agony as she spoke.
She knew that after this moment, there would be a wall between the two of them—a wall that she could never cross.
“And?”
“And… I promise I won’t do anything that would bring harm to Mu Yu.”
You bi*tch! You dirty, wretched b*tch!
Even though she seemed obedient with her head lowered, she couldn’t stop cursing Mu Yu deep down inside.
“If you mess with Mu Yu again and I find even a strand of hair missing from her head, you’ll be seeing your sister very soon.” Qin Jinhuan turned and left in a huff after those words.
With that, Yin Anran collapsed onto the bed in defeat.
In truth, she had been paying close attention to Dong Wanqing’s case; she was beyond overjoyed once she found out that an argument had broken out between the latter and her aunt. She even thought that the heavens were helping her, but little did she know that it was all part of Qin Jinhuan’s plan from the start.
Ever since she got her hands on Dong Wanqing’s diamond ring, she began to brew her masterplan. Her intention was to get rid of Mu Yu through Dong Wanqing—that way, she could kill two birds with one stone and become the sole winner in the end. However, not only did she fail to achieve her goal, she even became a tool for Qin Jinhuan to get revenge on both Qin Wentao and Dong Yueyun.
Just then, Qin Jinhuan’s emotionless yet threatening warning from earlier rang in her ears again, sending a chill up her spine.
At that moment, she realized that she had completely lost the man who had always been the number one spot in her heart.
She had even sacrificed her precious appearance for that man. To think that her sacrifice along with the price of her sister’s death couldn’t come close to even a strand of Mu Yu’s hair, whereas that woman was none other than a latecomer.
At that moment, Yin Anran’s heart came to a freezing point.
Her world had finally become void of any color—right now, everything in it was simply gray.
She could do nothing but hate!
She hated that Mu Yu was blessed with good luck, for the woman never failed to gain God’s favor in the nick of time.
She cursed the heavens for tripping her whenever she was just a step away from reaching her goal.
Since Yin Anran hadn’t been feeling well today, she didn’t go to work and rested at home. She would never have guessed that Dong Wanqing would break into her house with a knife. Fortunately, she was slick with her words and successfully ignited Dong Wanqing’s hate for Mu Yu; after that, she lured both women into her trap step by step. She was even willing to leave two hideous cuts on her face in an effort to make her plan seem more realistic.
Once Mu Yu was murdered by Dong Wanqing, the latter would undoubtedly be killed on Qin Jinhuan’s orders. The heavily injured Yin Anran would then receive Qin Jinhuan’s unconditional sympathy. With that, she could tenderly help him out of his grief and she would eventually achieve her intention of getting together with him—the two would live happily ever after from then on. What a beautiful future it was! Unfortunately, it was all wishful thinking now. Such were the whims of fate, for reality was indeed too harsh on her.
Still, she couldn’t let it go.
Everything had been going perfectly according to plan, and she only needed to wait a second more before it was all completed. However, she didn’t think that Bian Zijun would suddenly appear at the most critical moment. He had messed up her plan, so she had no choice but to make impromptu changes.
Nonetheless, the worst part was at the end—Yin Anran initially wanted to put on an act to save Mu Yu in front of Qin Jinhuan, so she pretended to pounce onto the woman. In actual fact, she was aiming to push her toward the knife in Dong Wanqing’s hand. Sadly, she had tripped on a gravel and knocked into the other woman instead. In the end, she saved Mu Yu and her act became a reality.
Now, she lost the man she loved so dearly and no longer saw joy in living. The only way she could be happy again was to take revenge on Mu Yu, the woman who had mercilessly taken away all that was rightfully hers.
“How are the preparations for Dong Wanqing’s funeral coming along?” Outside the ward, Qin Jinhuan asked Bian Zijun in a low voice.
“Cheng Xiang is taking care of it right now. Also, Miss Xi is out as well. Boss, there’s one thing I don’t understand, though.”
