My Lovely Wife is a Forensic Doctor - Chapter 234
Chapter 234 Love Problems
“Yu?” Rong Jian looked back in confusion.
“If you can find the murderer through the first method, I don’t think it’s necessary to look into Madam Feng’s previous interactions with Li Jianyun anymore. Don’t you think so?”
Rong Jian froze for a moment when he realized what Mu Yu was trying to say.
“Well, don’t think too much into it. I’m not trying to imply that there might be something between them,” Mu Yu explained in a panic. “I just feel that Madam Feng is very mindful of her past; if you look too much into it, I’m afraid it’ll affect your relationship!”
“No, it won’t!” answered Rong Jian calmly and confidently. “Rubing’s unpleasant past would only make me cherish her more—it won’t change my feelings for her.”
Qin Jinhuan interjected lightly and said, “You might not mind it, but she might.”
Rong Jian fell silent upon hearing that. After a while, he pursed his lips and nodded. “I know what to do,” he mumbled and left.
Mu Yu followed him to the door and watched as Rong Jian’s figure disappeared at the end of the corridor.
“Let’s go back too.”
She turned around and glared at Qin Jinhuan. “Who do you think wants to go back with you?” Mu Yu huffed.
Qin Jinhuan smiled and replied, “Alright, darling. Stop fooling around, we…”
“My apologies, Mr. Qin. I already have an appointment with someone else, so please excuse me,” answered Mu Yu coldly as she waved at Qi Han, who had been standing guard outside. She walked toward the elevator without looking back, completely ignoring Qin Jinhuan’s cries of her name.
Meanwhile, Qi Han looked suspiciously at Qin Jinhuan as the latter stood helplessly in front of the director’s office. Qi Han had always been a man with little words, so he trailed behind Mu Yu’s footsteps diligently.
As she got into the elevator, Mu Yu checked the time and was startled to find that more than an hour had passed since she was supposed to meet up with Jiang Wenwen. She quickly picked up the phone and called Jiang Wenwen to explain her situation.
“Okay, okay—don’t I know you well enough? You get so into it when you talk about your cases.” Jiang Wenwen giggled. “Even though I am understanding, you still have to compensate me! Since I skipped lunch just to see you, your punishment is to treat me to a big meal.”
“No problem! I haven’t had anything to eat either.” At that moment, Mu Yu started to feel hungry.
“I want to eat skewers.”
Mu Yu tried to conceal her smile as she said, “Sure, I’ll treat you to a hearty meal.”
“What’s this? Are skewers no longer good enough for you now that you’re the wife of a CEO? Don’t you consider skewers as a hearty meal anymore? Back then, you had to save money from three meals just to have a full plate of skewers! Don’t forget where you’ve come from.”
“Madam Jiang, I think you’ve misunderstood my words…”
“Alright, alright. I’ll drop this matter because I’m starving to death now. There’s this skewer shop called Chuan Ji outside of the hospital; it’s about 600 meters east. I heard that their skewers are quite delicious, so I’ll wait for you there.”
“Okay.” Mu Yu hung up the phone and was prepared to walk over there. When she remembered that they’d be going shopping in the afternoon, she decided to let Qi Han head back first.
Qi Han refused and said, “The boss made sure that I would follow you wherever you go.”
Mu Yu sighed. She had no choice but to call Qin Xiaozhi to explain the situation. “It’ll just be two women shopping around; it wouldn’t be good for a big man like him to follow us around.”
“Shopping? You’re pregnant now, Mu Yu. You should rest more and move less! Listen to me—come back earlier and just tell me what you need. I’ll get someone else to buy it for you.”
She hadn’t expected her Grandpa to be so concerned about it. Mu Yu stuck her tongue out and quickly added, “We’re not going to buy anything; we’re just going to walk around and chat with each other. It’s just a slow walk, so I won’t be too tired. Don’t worry about me, Grandpa—I’ll be extra careful and go back soon.”
“Since you guys are just going to chat, just bring her home instead. I’ll prepare snacks for both of you while you stay in bed and catch up.”
“Grandpa…”
“It’s settled, then. Tell Qi Han to pick Miss Wenwen up, and I’ll get Mingxiu to buy the snacks.”
“Grandpa, listen to me…”
However, the call had ended already as Mu Yu grumpily put the phone back into her pocket and reminded Qi Han a few things before bringing him along to the skewer shop Jiang Wenwen had mentioned earlier.
When they arrived, Jiang Wenwen was seated by the door and had already ordered some skewers and two soup bases. She smiled and got up to welcome Mu Yu.
“What took you so long? I was getting impatient.”
“In that case, you should’ve eaten first.”
“Well, I wanted to wait and share the food with you.” Jiang Wenwen noticed Qi Han sitting outside and asked in a lowered voice, “Is that handsome hunk there your bodyguard?”
Mu Yu nodded in response.
“Why don’t we ask him to join us?”
“He doesn’t eat spicy food. Besides, the noodle shop across the street will bring him noodles later.”
“Aww, it’s a pity that such a tall and handsome guy can’t eat spicy food.”
Mu Yu followed her gaze and looked out of the window, catching sight of two girls flirting with Qi Han at that very moment. Realizing that he was actually quite handsome, she smiled and made a joke. “Well, it looks like you have pretty good taste. Should I give you a hand…”
“What are you thinking about?!” Jiang Wenwen glowered at her. “Am I the type to go after new things and abandon old ones?”
“Old?” Just then, Mu Yu thought of Wen Zeyu as she asked curiously, “How’s the progress between you and Zeyu? Come on, fill me in on the details.”
Jiang Wenwen was checking the skewers to see if they were cooked properly when she heard Mu Yu’s question; she sighed heavily and put them down gloomily.
When she saw the frustration etched on her best friend’s face, Mu Yu was immediately concerned as she asked, “What’s wrong? What happened?”
Jiang Wenwen rested her chin on her hand and sighed heavily once more. “It’s a matter of life and death.”
Not expecting the mention of human lives again, Mu Yu realized the seriousness of the problem and asked tentatively, “Is Zeyu breaking up with you?”
“How can we talk about breaking up when we haven’t even been together?”
“In that case, why the sighs?”
Jiang Wenwen pouted as she looked at Mu Yu sulkily.
“Well, spit it out!” Mu Yu was starting to feel anxious.
“What’s the use of talking about it? You’re not willing to help me anyway.”
“How do you want me to help?” Mu Yu didn’t dare to make any promises lightly, fearing that she might not be able to do it.
On the other hand, Jiang Wenwen stared at her for a few seconds before throwing down the skewers in her hands. She got up, moved her seat and sat next to Mu Yu. Grabbing the latter’s hand with a sad expression on her face, she finally said, “Zeyu rejected me.”
“Rejected?”
“Yeah, he told me not to look for him anymore. Zeyu has refused to see me or pick up my calls; he hasn’t replied to me on Wechat or QQ either. It’s been three whole days since I last saw him, and I haven’t even heard his voice. I’m really going crazy! Please help me, Yu—I really can’t live without him!” Jiang Wenwen said as she began to cry.
In a panic, Mu Yu quickly hugged her best friend and comforted her by saying, “Don’t cry—let’s talk things out slowly.”
However, Jiang Wenwen seemed even more upset as she cried and said, “I really like Zeyu! I’m being serious this time; I’ve never liked a man so much! Now, all I can think about is him.”
“I know, I know. Stop crying.” Mu Yu pulled out a tissue and handed it to her best friend as she sighed and said, “It’s just that you can’t force your feelings on someone when it comes to relationships, you…”
“That’s why I came to you for help. I made a vow not to marry anyone else but Wen Zeyu in this life! My world will be dark and meaningless without him, and I don’t want to live a life without motivation. If that’s the case, I might as well just die…”
“What nonsense are you talking about?! Do you have any idea how stupid this sounds?” Mu Yu interrupted angrily. “He’s just a man; do you really have to die for him? Have you forgotten about our motto? Men are like clothes, and we can change them whenever we want to!”
She finally understood that her best friend was not joking when she said it was ‘a matter of life and death’. Nonetheless, Mu Yu disagreed with her best friend’s feelings about dying for the sake of love. There were times when she had been hurt from Qin Jinhuan’s indifference, but she never once thought about taking her own life; she always believed that her life had been given to her by her parents. It did not belong to her alone, so she had to cherish it.
“That was before!” Jiang Wenwen cried out defensively. “Back then, I hadn’t met anyone who really moved me, so that’s why I said stupid things like that. Now, I am truly in love with this man and I love him to the bone. He is my heart, my blood and the oxygen that allows me to survive. I can’t live without him! You love Young Master Qin, so you should understand my feelings!”
After that, she grabbed Mu Yu’s hand again and begged tearfully, “Yu, you wouldn’t just stand around and watch me die, would you? Please help me.”
Mu Yu was well aware of Zeyu’s feelings for Rong Ying as she gently advised, “Of course I’d like to help you, but you can’t use force in a relationship! I tried getting Huan to hook you up with him, but if Zeyu had any feelings for you, he wouldn’t be rejecting you like this now.”
“Young Master Qin’s so-called opportunity was done carelessly and half-heartedly! Tell him to use more effort and some brains to help me! He is Zeyu’s best friend and superior; if he’s willing to help me, Zeyu would definitely forget about Rong Ying and be with me!”
Her best friend’s desperate pleas had made Mu Yu’s heart ache. The idea of her best friend solely placing her hopes on Qin Jinhuan made her seem even more crazy. Mu Yu said as she sighed heavily, “You’re overestimating Huan’s abilities, he…”
“It seems like you don’t want to help me at all!” Jiang Wenwen withdrew her hand indignantly.
“No, no—of course I’d want to help you!” Mu Yu explained hastily as she didn’t want her best friend to misunderstand her. “I just feel like there’s nothing I can do in this matter!”
“What do you mean you can’t do anything about it? Everyone in An City knows that Young Master Qin only listens to his wife. If you order Young Master Qin to set me up with Zeyu and not shrug me off like he did before, it would definitely work!”
Does he listen to me the most? If he really did listen to me, I wouldn’t have been so annoyed at him today. Besides, it’s not wise for an outsider like me to get involved in their relationship matters.
Mu Yu didn’t want her best friend to get hurt again as she smiled bitterly and gently said, “Don’t expect too much from Huan; Zeyu is not a child with no opinions…”
“Well, it looks like you’re just going to stand by and do nothing.” Jiang Wenwen looked at her in disappointment.
“I’m not going to stand by and do nothing; it’s just that this matter…”
“Forget it—I’m not going to beg you anymore.” Jiang Wenwen wiped away her tears fiercely and stood up. “Only your happiness is important right now; other people’s happiness is just irrelevant to you.”
“Wenwen! That’s not what I meant! Hey! Where are you going?”
“Where am I going?” Jiang Wnwen smiled miserably. “Now that love is gone, I’m just going to die!”
“Are you crazy!” Mu Yu grabbed her tightly. “Can you just stop talking about dying all the time? Aren’t you better than this?”
Jiang Wenwen started crying again. “I just want to be loved, Yu. I don’t care about my pride. Young Master Qin is my only hope to save my love life. You claim that I’m your best friend, so why won’t you help me this time?”
“I-I didn’t say that I wouldn’t help you! I’ll call him later and ask him to help you out, okay?” Although she knew that her best friend’s personality was not the type to die for love, she was still afraid that Wenwen would act impulsively. She didn’t dare to risk it and was reluctant to lose her best friend, so she decided to stabilize Wenwen’s emotions first.
“If you really want to help me, don’t wait any longer and call him right now.” Jiang Wenwen took out her phone and dialed Qin Jinhuan’s number. While she waited for the call to be connected, she put it on loudspeaker and gave it to Mu Yu.
Since Mu Yu was still angry at Qin Jinhuan, she hadn’t thought about what she was going to say. In that moment of hesitation, a clear and gentle female voice came from the other side of the phone. “Hello?”
Yin Anran!?
Mu Yu was furious.
