My Lovely Wife is a Forensic Doctor - Chapter 218
Chapter 218 Is She Cheating on Me?!
All that was written on the piece of paper were a few sentences written in green ink. ‘You might as well not come home, Qin Jinhuan! You’re not the only one who knows how to go out and have fun!’
What? Green ink? Going out and having fun? Is she trying to cheat on me? Sh*t! A couple of seconds later, Qin Jinhuan tore the provocative note into pieces before giving Mu Yu a call. “Hello, the number that you’ve dialed is unavailable. Please…” Furious, he ended the call and dialed Cheng Xiang’s number instead.
“What? Did the young mistress go out? When did she leave the house?” Cheng Xiang’s astonishment only made Qin Jinhuan more furious than ever. “You must’ve been taking a good nap, huh?” he hissed.
“I’m sorry, boss. I…”
“You b*stard!” Qin Jinhuan angrily ended the call before stepping out of the room. After a moment of contemplation, he headed toward Qin Chengxi’s room and knocked on her door. He had to remain silent as his grandfather was sleeping in the room next door, so he clenched his fists and dug his nails into his palms. After all, he couldn’t bang on the door to release all the anger inside him.
“Huan?” Forcing herself to stifle a yawn that was creeping up her throat, Qin Chengxi was surprised to see Qin Jinhuan outside her room. “Where’s Yu?” Qin Jinhuan asked as he threw a hopeful glance into her room. “Yu? Isn’t she in your room?” she asked with a look of surprise.
Qin Jinhuan cursed under his breath as he knew that Qin Chengxi would never lie to him. He then charged toward the stairs. “Huan!” Qin Chengxi quickly ran after him. “Did you and Yu…” she started.
“Shush!” Qin Jinhuan gestured for her to lower her voice while he threw a glance toward his grandfather’s room. Quickly understanding what he meant, she pressed her fingers to her lips before speaking again with a softer tone. “Huan, did you make Yu angry again?”
He frowned upon hearing this. “Again? What do you mean by that?”
“Uhh… I don’t mean it that way. What happened between you two? Did she… Hey! Huan!” Qin Chengxi followed closely behind Qin Jinhuan as she was afraid of raising the volume of her voice. Instead, she cupped her hands around her mouth to call for her brother. However, Qin Jinhuan didn’t respond at all. As he rushed over to the surveillance control room, he flung the door open to see Cheng Xiang and the rest of the men in there.
“Boss.” Cheng Xiang quickly greeted Qin Jinhuan after tearing his eyes away from the screen. “I’m checking the CCTV footage to see what happened after 10.30PM,” he explained uneasily.
“After 10.30PM?” Qin Jinhuan asked as he glanced at his watch.
“Yes. Well, I took a nap after I saw that all the lights downstairs were switched off at 10.30PM, so…” Before Cheng Xiang could finish his words, Qin Jinhuan’s phone rang. He picked it up once he saw that it was a call from Bian Zijun.
“The young mistress went back to her own family home, Boss,” Bian Zijun said.
“Her own home? When did she go back?” Qin Jinhuan was utterly stunned to hear this.
“Just half an hour ago. Hu and Li Mao were the ones who sent her over,” he replied.
“I got it.” After ending the call, Qin Jinhuan gave Cheng Xiang a furious glare. Cheng Xiang lowered his head meekly as he followed behind his boss’s trail. Bian Zijun and two other men were already running toward them by the time Qin Jinhuan reached the front entrance of the house.
“I’ve asked around about how the young mistress left the house 30 minutes ago, Boss. Since it was late and she was alone, one of the guards questioned her when she left the place.” Then, Bian Zijun turned to glance at one of the men behind him. “What did she tell you guys earlier?”
One of the men quickly stepped forward with his head lowered politely. “The young mistress told us that the boss had asked her out for supper, but we didn’t want to send her out all by herself since it was late; there didn’t seem to be any cars waiting for her outside either. We suggested accompanying her out, but she insisted for us not to do so since it would ruin the atmosphere of her date with Boss. We didn’t dare go against her wishes, but we were also concerned about her safety. Hence, we sent Hu and Li Mao to follow her secretly after she left.”
Another one of the men quickly nodded in agreement. “Hu and Li Mao wanted to just follow the young mistress until she met you for the date, Boss. However, they hadn’t expected for her to head over to her own family home instead. The two of them are still outside her family home since they’re worried about leaving the place,” he added.
Upon hearing this, the pale, distressed look on Qin Jinhuan’s face finally faded a little. “Are you sure that she’s still at her family home now?” he asked again as he still felt a little worried.
Bian Zijun nodded. “We’re sure! I just got off a call with Hu.”
Right then, Qin Chengxi’s eyes widened as she finally understood the whole situation. “Huan, did Yu go back to her family home because you made her angry?”
“Go back to bed!” Qin Jinhuan threw her a frustrated glare before he began to walk out. She shrunk away a little before she mustered the courage to follow his footsteps once again. “Huan, you have to sweet-talk her, or else, when Grandpa finds out tomorrow…”
This got Qin Jinhuan to stop in his tracks as he turned around in a flash. “Don’t you dare tell Grandpa anything about this!”
“No, no, no! That’s not what I meant!” Qin Chengxi quickly shook her hands in denial. “I’m just saying…”
“What’s going on? What happened?” Yu Zhongguang appeared then, dressed in his cotton pajamas as he jogged out of the house. “It’s nothing,” Qin Jinhuan muttered before glaring at Qin Chengxi. “Why aren’t you going back to bed yet?”
“Alright.” Qin Chengxi stuck her tongue out in guilt as she knew that her brother was blaming her for waking Uncle Zhongguang up. Without saying anything more, she turned around and headed toward her own room.
“Young Master Huan?” Yu Zhongguang asked confusedly.
“It’s nothing. Go ahead and get some rest; I have to head out for a while.” Qin Jinhuan’s voice was a lot gentler when he spoke to Yu Zhongguang. Both Yu Zhongguang and Li Xianglan had treated him like their own child when he was growing up, so he had great respect for them.
“You’re heading out at this hour? Did anything bad happen?” Yu Zhongguang could tell that something was wrong, but he didn’t know the exact situation.
“It’s nothing. I just forgot to buy supper for Yu,” Qin Jinhuan explained.
“Oh.” Yu Zhongguang flashed a smile of relief. “In that case, I’ll leave the door unlocked.”
“No, it’s fine—I have the keys. It’s late, Uncle Zhongguang…” Qin Jinhuan uttered.
“Alright. Hurry up, then. Come back early.” Yu Zhongguang thoughtfully gestured for him to make a move; the older man rarely meddled too much with Qin Jinhuan’s matters.
With that, Qin Jinhuan strode out of the main entrance. His house wasn’t far from Mu Yu’s family home; it was a 10-minute walk at most. He felt his footsteps getting lighter as he was finally able to calm himself down. I was really furious and worried when I first saw those green words, but I managed to calm myself down quickly as I know that Mu Yu isn’t the sort of girl who’d cheat on me even if she threatened to leave the house. If she does engage in any sort of intimate act with another man, though, I don’t think I’d be able to accept it. I feel so much more relaxed knowing that she’s in her family home.
He lifted his eyebrows in amusement when he thought of Mu Yu’s parents. Her parents were extremely fond of him, so he didn’t feel the least bit of worry after hearing that she was at home with her family. As he continued to immerse himself in his own thoughts, he eventually arrived at Mu Yu’s house. “Let me do it!” he shouted at Bian Zijun, who was about to ring the doorbell.
With a grin, he stepped forward and pressed the bell himself. The intercom system remained silent for a while, and Bian Zijun began to feel a little anxious as something seemed odd about it. “Did something happen in there?” he asked. Cheng Xiang and Huang Bo were fully alerted, and Weng Yun looked like he was prepared to climb over the walls. Bian Zijun then glanced around their surroundings carefully as he called for Hu and Li Mao in a hushed tone.
“Zijun! Boss!” Two shadows emerged from their hiding spot.
“What’s going on in there? Why isn’t anyone answering the intercom system?” Bian Zijun asked as he pointed toward the villa.
“No one’s answering?” Hu exchanged glances with Li Mao as they both wore uncertain expressions on their faces. “Perhaps they went to bed. When the young mistress first arrived, her parents were the ones who came out to greet her personally; they even chit-chatted in the living room for quite a while,” said Hu.
“Yeah—they only turned the lights off and headed up 20 minutes ago,” Li Mao added. Right then, Qin Jinhuan pulled his phone out and dialed Mu Ziyao’s number as he realized why no one was answering the doorbell. Mu Ziyao’s phone has been switched off. As Qin Jinhuan tried dialing Hu Meiling’s number, her phone was switched off too.
It seems like Yu’s really furious this time; it’s true when they say that you’ll be faced with terrible consequences when you make a woman angry. With a bitter smile on his face, Qin Jinhuan took a step back as he addressed Bian Zijun and said, “Open the doors.”
“Alright.” Bian Zijun instantly understood what he meant and proceeded to pull his tools out. Soon enough, he managed to pick the lock for the side gate; he ran in and began to work on the main entrance. However, right as he reached for the door handle, the door opened from inside.
“Who is it?!” Bian Zijun, who was extremely vigilant, quickly reached toward the other person’s throat.
“Are you trying to break all the locks in my house?” a voice answered.
Young mistress?! Bian Zijun quickly pulled his hand away. He grabbed onto the door handle to balance himself, but the door shifted along with his weight and a loud thud followed right after he slammed his head against the door. Huang Bo and the rest of the men who watched as the scene unfolded immediately hissed in pain, seeming as though they were the ones who had slammed their heads against the door. This was followed by a long, synchronized sigh.
“I’m sorry, young mistress. I hope I didn’t scare you.” Poor Bian Zijun, who couldn’t even be bothered to check his own injury as he saw stars flashing in front of his eyes, immediately apologized to the woman in front of him.
“What are you doing here?!” she cried. Understanding that the question wasn’t meant for him, Bian Zijun staggered aside as he felt a splitting ache in his head.
“I’m here to bring my wife home for supper.” Qin Jinhuan stepped forward with a smile. He quietly threw glances over to all his men standing around him, and they immediately rushed out of the front porch once they got his message.
“I’ve already had my supper. You can have it yourself. I’m going to bed.” Mu Yu reached out to shut the door.
“Hey! I don’t need to eat, then.” Qin Jinhuan forced his way through the door and shut it behind him with a huge smile still hanging on his face. “I’ll go to bed with my wife instead.”
“You can go to bed with whoever else you wish to. I don’t need you to go to bed with me.” The hall was dark, but Mu Yu still felt the need to flash him a death stare even if he couldn’t see her.
“My wife is the only one I love. Come on.” He precisely held onto her hand before leading her toward the stairs, but Mu Yu quickly pulled her hand away. “This is my house, and I don’t welcome outsiders like you here! Get out!” she growled.
“Hey, what are you saying, my dear wife? Why would I be an outsider? I’m your husband! I…” he uttered.
“Get out!”
“Yu…”
“Are you leaving or not?” she hissed.
“No,” he said stubbornly.
“Fine; I’ll leave if you won’t!” Mu Yu flung his hand off and began to step out, but he quickly followed behind her. “I’ll go wherever you go.”
She turned around and walked the other way, and he quickly did the same; the words ‘I’ll do whatever you do’ were written all over his face, making Mu Yu more furious than ever. “Why are you so shameless?” she cried as she jabbed a finger against his forehead.
Even this didn’t seem to infuriate Qin Jinhuan; he simply shut the door behind him and pressed her against the wall, using his body to block her from leaving. “Are you trying to remind me to do something shameless tonight?” he teased with his face edged close to her ear.
“Pfft! You cheap, dirty beast!”
“Dirty?” Qin Jinhuan flashed a naughty grin. “We haven’t done anything dirty in a long while, Yu. Tonight, let’s…”
“Hey!” She began to feel a little flustered once she saw how flirty he was getting. “Don’t you dare do anything here! This is my house! If my parents see us, we’d…” she warned as she grabbed onto his arm.
“They’re asleep. I…” he began.
Smack! A sudden sound emerged from the darkness.
