My Lovely Wife is a Forensic Doctor - Chapter 213
Chapter 213 What Happened to Her
How was it possible to have such sounds coming from Mu Yu’s room at this hour?!
Could it be… Impossible! Yu is not that kind of person!
Qin Jinhuan walked hastily into the room.
The lights in the room were switched off and the room was shrouded in a pink-purple hue. The air had an inexplicable sensuality to it.
In the middle of the room, the sheet covers of the big bed quivered slightly and the moans continued as his suspicion grew.
He coughed gently to avoid any embarrassing situations.
The movement under the sheets as well as the moans stopped after the cough; the ominous silence in the room made it seem as though nothing was out of place.
He walked to the side of the bed and bent down as he gently called out her name.
“Oh…”
There was another moan, but there was something different about it; there was an underlying tone of pain in it.
He realized that something wasn’t right and quickly pulled over the sheets. Stunned by the scene in front of him, he stood rooted to the ground.
Still dressed in her sweater, Mu Yu was curled up inside the sheets. Due to the dimmed lights, he couldn’t tell how her complexion was, but her face glistened with perspiration and her contorted face showed the pain she was feeling.
He gasped and rushed over to carry her up. Then, he yelled out her name as he switched on the lights.
When the bright lights shone around the dark room, he could finally see everything clearly. Her face was ashen as sweat covered her face, and her eyelids were drooping as if she could barely keep them open.
She was clearly sick! By the looks of it, it was quite serious.
Qin Jinhuan, you b*stard!
Qin Jinhuan was silently cursing himself as he muttered anxiously, “I’m sending you to the hospital now!”
“No!” Mu Yu shoved him away and turned her back toward him as she lay back down weakly. Her tone and body language were cold and indifferent.
He knew that it would probably hurt if she moved, so he didn’t try to pull her up. He leaned down next to her and asked gently, “What’s making you uncomfortable? Tell me so that I can get the right doctor for you.”
She ignored him and hunched over while covering her head. As she curled up in bed, Mu Yu let out several soft moans in pain.
Upon realizing that he had gotten the wrong idea about her moans, Qin Jinhuan’s heart crumpled into a bundle of nerves. He forcefully turned her around, wiped off her sweat and asked her tensely, “What’s causing you so much discomfort? Tell me!”
“Leave me alone.”
“Don’t be reckless! Don’t neglect your body out of spite like this!” It looked as though he was telling her off, but there was no mistaking the earnesty in his voice. “Be good and tell me which part of your body is making you feel uncomfortable?”
“Get lost!”
“Yu!” Seeing as she refused to talk to him, he swiftly carried her and was prepared to send her to the hospital.
“Let me down!” Struggling, she relentlessly pounded his chest.
“You can punish me, hit me, and do anything you want when you’re all healed up, and I promise I will not fight back.”
“I’m not sick!”
“How can you say that? You…”
“I’m having menstrual cramps!”
“Menstrual cramps!?”
While he was still in shock, Mu Yu seized the opportunity and hooked her arms around his neck before giving him a hard pinch on his arm.
“Ouch…”
As his hands let loose for a second, she shoved him away the minute her feet touched the ground. Turning back to the bed, Mu Yu continued to curl up under the sheets, leaving only her back for him just like before.
It finally occurred to Qin Jinhuan that she was menstruating.
He climbed into bed and gently rubbed her back. “What do you do when you’re having cramps? What medicine do you need to take? Tell me and I’ll go get it for you right now.”
She ignored him and continued moaning softly in pain.
“In that case, I’ll give Ying a call now.” He took out his cell phone and muttered, “I’ve never seen you have menstrual cramps before. Why would you have it now?”
“What do you mean by that?” Suddenly, she sat up and roared, “Are you implying that I’m just pretending!? Ugh…”
Not expecting the dizzy spell, she staggered and swayed a little.
“Yu!” He hastily held onto her. “Is it that bad?”
“Get lost!” She spat through gritted teeth, trying to push him away.
However, he refused to give her a chance this time as he hugged her tightly and explained, “How could I say that you are pretending? All I meant was that you’ve never had menstrual cramps before, so there must be a reason for you to be suffering so much pain this time! Did you catch a cold from last night?”
“Achoo!”
At that moment, Mu Yu’s sneeze answered all of Qin Jinhuan’s questions. He quickly let go of her and placed her down carefully. After getting off the bed, he put on a coat for Mu Yu, carried her and ran out of the room despite her protests. He rushed down the stairs and ran toward the door.
Half an hour later, he brought her to the Rong Family’s Fraternity Hospital, which was quite a distance from his mother’s house. Even though he had tried to keep a distance from Rong Ying, he had to avoid exposing the news about Mu Yu’s failed pregnancy. Since Mu Yu’s condition looked quite serious, he had no choice but to go to Rong Ying instead.
Qin Jinhuan had called Rong Ying in the car earlier, so Rong Ying was already waiting for them at the entrance when they reached the hospital.
He explained her condition briefly to Rong Ying. After asking Mu Yu a few more detailed questions, the latter knew what she had to do. She beckoned Qin Jinhuan to go to the resting area and said, “Yu should be fine, Jinhuan. You can leave her in my care.”
Despite Rong Yin’s confident demeanor, Qin Jinhuan was still very worried about Mu Yu. He even followed them to the emergency ward and paced outside like a nervous wreck.
Bian Zijun tried to serve Qin Jinhuan a cup of hot tea, but he refused it.
“Boss, you shouldn’t worry so much. Didn’t Director Rong say that the Young Mistress would be fine?” said Huang Bo.
However, Qin Jinhuan paid no attention to them as he continued to pace around the ward.
With Rong Ying’s guarantee, he knew that he needn’t worry about Mu Yu’s condition. He was more worried about the way Mu Yu was treating him—her body was in that much pain, yet she wasn’t even trying to recover. She refused to let him come near her, so she was clearly angry with him.
After all, he had left the unwell Mu Yu all alone in his mother’s old house for Yin Anran, and he was feeling extremely guilty about it. Mu Yu and Yin Anran had never gotten along, so it made sense that she would get upset about it.
He would really need to console her later.
As Qin Jinhuan was pacing outside the ward, Mu Yu was getting checked by the doctors in the emergency ward. It was like what Qin Jinhuan had mentioned earlier—she wasn’t really having menstrual cramps. It was the exposure of the cold on her weak body that caused the abdominal pain.
“Don’t worry, it’s not that serious. You’ll be fine after some medicine and an IV drip to drive out the cold in your body.” The doctor reassured her as she wrote down the prescription.
“That’s good to hear.” Rong Ying helped Mu Yu to sit up and passed the prescription to a nearby nurse. “Send the medicine to VIP room 8.”
“Yes, Director.” At once, the nurse rushed out of the emergency ward.
With her hands covering her tummy, Mu Yu looked at Rong Ying apologetically. “I’m so sorry for waking you up at this time of the night. It’s really…”
Rong Ying smiled as she cut her short, “Don’t worry about it. I’m used to being woken up all the time.”
“Was it room number 8? I can just go there by myself, so you should go back and rest.”
“Since I can’t sleep anymore, let me send you over.”
“How is she?” Qin Jinhuan, who was waiting outside the ward, came running over when he saw them.
Mu Yu ignored him and looked the other way.
“She’s down with a cold, so she would need to take some meds and IV therapy.” Rong Ying threw a surprised glance at the two of them.
“Alright, where’s the prescription? I’ll go and get the medicine.”
“I’ve already sent the nurse to get it; she’ll send it over to VIP room 8.”
“Okay, I got it. You should go and rest.” Qin Jinhuan stood between Rong Ying and Mu Yu. While he blocked Mu Yu from Rong Ying’s line of sight, he turned his attention to the former and asked softly, “Are you still feeling unwell?”
“Yes,” Mu Yu muttered as she didn’t want to make him look bad.
“Let me take you to your room.”
Lowering her head, Mu Yu kept silent and held onto his arm as she walked.
Qin Jinhuan didn’t want Rong Ying to catch on, so he quickly changed the topic and said, “I’m sure that Grandpa would know that Yu has been to the hospital by morning. By then…”
“Don’t worry, Huan. Both Yu’s medical condition and prescriptions were not entered in the hospital’s computer system. I have already ordered the doctor in charge and the nurses; they all know what to say when the time comes. If Grandpa asks you, just tell him that Yu came down with a cold and don’t mention anything else.”
Mu Yu apologized again, “I’m sorry for all the trouble we caused, Ying.”
“You don’t have to stand on ceremony, Yu. To be able to worry for you guys is one of my greatest pleasures.” Unconsciously, Rong Ying’s gaze lingered on Qin Jinhuan.
Even so, Qin Jinhuan acted like he didn’t notice anything and took Mu Yu to the VIP room. Rong Ying stood outside the door and mumbled, “I’m going to check on the medicine.” She then turned around and walked away hurriedly, the loneliness on her tired face finally revealing itself.
On the other hand, the sulking Mu Yu was either ignoring Qin Jinhuan, pretending to sleep, or acting dumb in the VIP room. Qin Jinhuan knew that he wouldn’t be able to explain the situation, so he said nothing and quietly took care of her needs. He was silently cursing himself for being careless last night. He knew that she was menstruating, yet he still allowed her to stay in the cold, snowy weather for so long.
It was already dawn by the time Mu Yu finished IV therapy. After a whole night without rest, she finally fell asleep. Qin Jinhuan looked for a nurse and got them to remove the IV drip. After the bleeding stopped, he yawned and lay down next to her.
But before he could slip into deep slumber, he was woken up by a call from Wen Zeyu. The latter called to report that the crisis at South City Factory was solved because Jiang Tao Industry and Wu’s Enterprise had offered to postpone the delivery dates. As a result, all of the smaller companies followed suit. Meanwhile, the factory workers who were waiting for the company to compromise had already scrambled back to work when they heard the news.
“Now that the factory’s production flow is back to normal, we’ll be able to deliver the products on time! Jinhuan, were you the one who asked Ding Jiangtao and Wu Zhimin for help?”
He could hear the astonishment in Zeyu’s voice, but Qin Jinhuan had expected this to happen. He didn’t explain much and replied calmly, “Work out a new labor contract for the old workers who’ve come back to work.”
Back then, he had rejected Wen Zeyu’s offer to seek help from the two big companies. His plan was to negotiate with them himself before the delivery date was due and figure out who was the actual mastermind behind it all. He didn’t expect that Yin Anran, who had been slapped by him, actually ran off to solve the problem and even got herself into an accident.
“I understand.”
Wen Zeyu hung up hastily. Since Qin Jinhuan was helping Mu Yu to get up from bed, he didn’t notice the unusual tone in Wen Ziyu’s voice and didn’t think too much of it. Just then, he checked his phone and realized that there were 3 missed calls and 5 to 6 messages from Yin Anran. Not wanting to affect Mu Yu’s rest, he switched his phone to silent mode.
In one of Yin Anran’s messages, she was asking Qin Jinhuan when he would come and pick her up from the hospital.
He didn’t want Mu Yu to misunderstand him again, so he ignored Yin Anran’s calls and quietly sent Cheng Xiang to help her get discharged from the hospital.
Even after sending Mu Yu home, she still gave Qin Jinhuan the cold shoulder and made him feel ill at ease. As if saved by the bell, the company called him just then. Hence, he decided to go to the office instead.
On the way, Huang Bo was conflicted about speaking up.
