Chapter 181 Qin Chengxi’s Worries
“G-Grandpa.” Qin Chengxi’s voice was feeble and full of respect and fear.

“Xi, where are you now?” Qin Xiaozhi sounded very gentle, which was starkly different from his usual solemn and frosty tone. However, his affection only made Qin Chengxi feel uneasy. She stammered, “W-We j-just left Ning City. Uh, at the airport.”

“Grandpa sounded too gentle! When I was his grandson, he had never treated me that affectionately! Now that I’m a girl and knowing that grandpa is biased toward males, it’s impossible for him to treat me so gently. I’m worried that…”

Shang Qi immediately cut off her words and comforted her with “Don’t worry! You have to believe in your brother’s capability.”

“That’s what I’m most worried about.” Qin Chengxi sighed again. “Huan and grandpa have never had a good relationship. I’m worried that their conflict will deepen because of me.”

“What a foolish girl. Why are you always so pessimistic?” Shang Qi laughed and he obviously disagreed with her. “Think about it. Aside from me, only Huan, Yu, President Wen and Director Rong knew your number. “Shang Qi…” Qin Chengxi felt a lump in her throat but she was at a loss for words and could only stare at him with teary eyes.

“You shouldn’t cry! I don’t like to see you cry!” Shang Qi’s words sounded harsh but his tone was exceptionally gentle. His hand caressed her face softly and he flashed her a warm smile.

Holding back her tears, she nodded and forced an awful smile at him.

“Alright now. Director Rong is still waiting for us in the car. Let’s go.” He took her hand and she slightly lifted her head, forcing back her tears with pursed lips and blinking eyes. Then, she sniffled and nodded obediently as she followed his steps.

She stared at his hand that was holding her tightly while they walked. Although she felt touched by his actions, she could not stop herself from being nervous.

Apart from her grandpa, she was also unsure how to face her parents who had once cruelly forced her to become a male. They must be extremely disappointed at her decision and would never forgive her.

No matter how hostile their attitude used to be, they were after all her biological parents and her closest kin. Moreover, she could understand their insistence on her gender reassignment surgery. They were incompetent but still dreamed of a luxurious life, which was why the wealth under her name was extremely important to them.

“Didn’t I tell you not to overthink? If you keep worrying, I’ll be upset.” She heard Shang Qi’s voice in her ears and turned around to see his worried eyes that expressed his concern for her. It gave her a heartache to see him worried and she reflexively flashed a smile at him. She knew that she could only cheer him up by smiling.

Indeed, her smile was like a cup of smooth and flavorful hot tea that soothed his knitted brows. Soon, they were smiling at each other with their fingers locked while walking toward the business limousine that Wen Zeyu had parked at the roadside. Before they entered the car, they could hear Wen Zeyu’s hearty laughter from a distance.

“Zeyu must be making Ying laugh. He treats her the best,” Qin Chengxi remarked wistfully. Shang Qi expressed his pity at the one-sided love, “Too bad Director Rong isn’t falling for him.”

“Determination will pay off.”

“A relationship cannot be forced. It has nothing to do with determination.”

“How could that be? Had you not persist, we wouldn’t have become a couple.”

“Our situation was different from theirs.”

“How different? I think they’re about the same.”

Seeing that Qin Chengxi had gotten into a serious mode, Shang Qi smiled and retreated. “You’re right. They’re the same. Hope that President Wen remains determined.”

“Hey, you’re here? I thought that you’d chat until it’s dark.” While Wen Zeyu was speaking, he opened the car door and immediately inched closer to Rong Ying, hinting at the two new passengers to take a seat at the back of the car.

Qin Chengxi smiled embarrassedly and went into the back passenger seat with Shang Qi. She observed that Wen Zeyu had turned back to Rong Ying for a chat but Rong Ying looked uninterested, turning her head toward the window. The sight of them stirred up some inexplicable emotions in Qin Chengxi, and she reflexively looked at Shang Qi, who responded with a shrug. He had obviously noticed the interaction between Wen Zeyu and Rong Ying, but he merely pointed at his shoulder. When she took the hint and rested her head on his shoulder, he whispered, “You must be tired after the long flight. Have a shut-eye and rest. Be a good girl and don’t go over your worries in your head. Take a good rest. I’ll wake you up when we arrive.”

She obediently nodded and took his arm as she closed her eyes to rest. There were too many worrying thoughts swimming in her head. At that moment, she really did not want to think about it because worrying wouldn’t solve any problems. She would eventually face the problem anyway and might as well take a good rest to recharge. She learned about this mindset from Shang Qi and she thought that it was sensible. Therefore, she decided to listen to him.

Around six in the evening, the four of them braced the strong winter winds and the drizzle to arrive in An City. Qin Jinhuan had arranged a welcome for them at the entrance of Gloria Hotel.

“Xi, wake up. It’s snowing outside!” Qin Chengxi was still in a deep sleep when she was woken up by Shang Qi. She rubbed her groggy eyes and noticed that the car was parked. When she was led out of the car by Shang Qi, a cold gust of wind blew past her, making her sneeze non stop. Even so, she was trembling with excitement at the sight of snow.

“Awesome! It’s really snowing! The snowflakes are huge! Looks like it’s going to be a heavy snowfall!” She opened her hands to receive the snowflakes falling down from the sky, waiting for them to melt in her palms. Wen Zeyu smiled at her. “The weather forecast said that we’re going to see a record snowfall in these two days, a first in many decades.”

“Really? That’s awesome! At that time, I’d build a huge snowman and I want to…”

“We’ll see about that when you wrap yourself up in a warm coat tomorrow.” Shang Qi was worried that her frail body could not withstand the cold. However, she was insistent. “I can’t wait any longer!”

At the end of the day, Qin Chengxi was still not used to her female identity and she meekly addressed Mu Yu before subconsciously pulling her hand out of the latter’s grasp. Mu Yu instantly understood Qin Chengxi’s embarrassment and caressed her hair light-heartedly.

Due to Qin Chengxi’s frail frame, Mu Yu had always treated her like a teen without noticing that she was only one year older than Qin Chengxi.

At that moment, Qin Chengxi randomly remaked, “You are still too thin. You need to get some nutrition.”

Qin Chengxi hurriedly replied, “Ying arranged for a dietician to fix nutritious meals for me.”

Out of her fear for Qin Jinhuan and the shyness from wearing a female outfit in front of him for the first time, she could not bring herself to look him in the eye and was fixated on her feet when she addressed him.

Wen Zeyu who was standing at the entrance could not stand the cold anymore and pulled her into a hug as he waved at Qin Jinhuan. “That’s enough. Let’s continue our conversation when we’re in the hotel. Xi has always been very weak. Do you want to freeze her? Hey! What was that? Ouch!”

When everyone saw that Wen Zeyu almost stumbled and bumped into the glass doors, they alerted him in unison, “Watch out!”

Luckily, the security guard at the entrance managed to grab him and spared him from knocking right into the glass. Everyone let out a sigh of relief and stared at Qin Jinhuan, confused at his action out of nowhere.

“Huan, what were you doing?” Mu Yu tugged at him gently and whispered. He gave a cold stare at Wen Zeyu who was now standing with an upset face in front of the door. He warned the latter, “Keep a distance from Xi starting today!”

Rong Ying finally understood his intention and quickly agreed with him, “Huan is indeed attentive.”

Wen Zeyu snapped out of his daze and felt even more upset. “I’m also Xi’s brother, alright? Am I wrong for hugging her?”

When he saw Qin Jinhuan’s eyes shooting daggers at him, he hurriedly changed his attitude. “Okay. I’ll take note of it from now on.”

Qin Chengxi did not expect Wen Zeyu to be reprimanded because of herself and stared at him embarrassedly with an apologetic look.

“It’s fine. That’s his personality.” Wen Zeyu did not wish to burden Qin Chengxi with guilt and waved his hands nonchalantly. Then, he turned to Rong Ying. “Ying, the party will start soon. Why don’t you bring Xi to dress up in the room on the second floor?”

Rong Ying nodded at the suggestion. Then, she followed behind Wen Zeyu and led Qin Chengxi and Shang Qi up the stairs.

On the other hand, Mu Yu and Qin Jinhuan went straight to the banquet hall. While they were walking, she could not stop herself from complaining at him. “I know you love and care about Xi. But you shouldn’t embarrass Zeyu in front of everyone just now. He’s still the vice president of the Qing Tian Group. You should save his face.”

To be honest, after he shoved Wen Zeyu, he felt a little sorry too. However, he was too used to arrogance and could not bring himself to apologize, which was why he did not retort when he was scolded by Mu Yu.
