Warrior's Promise Novel - Chapter 861
Chapter 861: Completely Lost
Su Mo was shocked. He had been retracing his steps back, but now he found that he was unable to return to the border of Mist Mountains.
After a moment’s thought, he shot into the air and charged toward the heavens. He wanted to see if he could fly out of the mist that shrouded the place.
To his dismay, he discovered after flying upwards for 15 minutes that he was still not out of the mist yet.
“This place is truly mysterious!” Su Mo stopped and his brows knit tightly together.
He used his Ghostly Magic Sight Martial Soul to carefully examine the surroundings again. He then discovered what made this place so mysterious.
He found that the Space within the mist would warp slightly with no set pattern.
“I see!” Su Mo now understood that this Space would constantly warp, which meant that there was no fixed direction here.
Walking in a straight line would not get him anyway.
This meant that he had not been retracing his steps earlier, but had veered off his tracks.
He guessed that although he had been flying in a straight line upwards, the Space probably warped as he was flying.
“I wonder where the Blood-striped Seed could be?” Su Mo sighed.
Since he had already found himself in this place, he would make the best out of it. He would now come up with a way to obtain the Blood-striped Seed, then think of how to get out of this place later.
It only took a few breaths for him to descend back on the ground.
He then walked aimlessly in the mist.
There did not seem to be any sign of life within the Mist Mountains, the ground he walked on was hard, stony and covered with sand.
Suddenly, he stopped in his tracks and his blood ran cold for he had sensed killing desire being trained on him.
“What is this?” Su Mo immediately used his Ghostly Magic Sight Martial Soul to sweep the place.
He immediately exerted the Ghostly Magic Sight to its extreme. Unfortunately, his field of vision was severely limited, so he did not discover anything.
He then used his spiritual consciousness to probe his surroundings. His spiritual consciousness was also affected by the mysterious mist and his probe could not reach for more than 300 meters.
Su Mo immediately went on his guard. He was not afraid of dangers that could be seen, but unknown dangers like these made chills go down his spine.
Su Mo held the Hornet Sword in his hand and remained where he was. His eyes narrowed and his whole body tensed up as he prepared himself to face the dangers ahead.
One breath!
Two breaths!
Three breaths!
Five breaths later, an elusive light suddenly flashed behind him and something appeared like an illusion, heading straight for his chest.
“Die!” Su Mo reacted extremely quickly. He slashed out with his sword just before the elusive light hit him.
Slash!
As his sword radiance flashed, there was a spray of black blood and that elusive light was hacked into two. It then landed onto the ground.
Su Mo took a closer look and found that this elusive light was a greyish white small snake. It was only 23 centimeters long and about as thin as a finger. Its piercing fangs resembled as saw, savage and vicious.
Puff! Puff! Puff!
The ground where splattered with black blood started to quickly corrode and soon, a deep hole was formed.
“It had such high toxicity!” Su Mo’s eyes hardened when he saw how corrosive the poison from such a small snake could be.
After a while, he took a deep breath. This Mist Mountains was not just a place where he would lose his sense of direction, it also seemed fraught with danger.
He resolved to be even more cautious as he continued to make his way forward.
Roar!
Soon, something roared and a large animal pounced toward Su Mo.
Upon closer look, Su Mo saw that it was a huge cheetah that was about 9 meters tall and 33 meters long. It was also greyish white and blended perfectly into the thick mist.
It gave off a powerful aura of a Class 7 Lv 5 Demonic Beast, comparable to a Lv 7 True Darkness Realm martial artist.
Swoosh!
The cheetah moved like lightning and pierced through the void as it pounced for his head with its jaws wide open.
“Die!” Once again, Su Mo slashed out with his sword.
Instantly, the cheetah was sliced into two with a flash of sword radiance.
Demonic Beasts of this level were not his match at all.
As Su Mo continued to make his way forward, he was faced frequent attacks from the Demonic Beasts around him. Those beasts below Lv 6 were not a threat to him at all.
Even when he was occasionally attacked by a few Lv 6 beasts, Su Mo managed to kill them instantly.
After walking for an hour, Su Mo found himself at the peak of a small mountain.
The mist was so thick that he could not see the road ahead.
He immediately flew into the sky and rapidly weaved through the mist.
There was not a single patch of grass on the ground, which meant that he was just wasting his time here searching for the Blood-striped Seed.
The Blood-striped Seed was the seed of a rare blood-striped spiritual herb. Su Mo deduced that it would definitely be found where there was lush vegetation.
Swoosh!
Su Mo flew at a low altitude and weaved through the mist in search of a place that matched the description.
After flying for a while, he flew into a dense forest.
The forest was full of towering ancient trees and lush vegetation. Thick vines climbed like snakes up the trunks of the ancient trees.
Su Mo slowed down and started to search the area as he flew.
Swoosh!
The vines that wrapped themselves around the ancient trees suddenly moved to attack Su Mo.
Dozens of thick vines weaved themselves into a large net, trapping Su Mo within.
“Destroy!” Su Mo remained calm and did not slow down at all.
Sword radiance flashed from his sword as he slashed those vines into pieces.
As he moved forward, he continued to face attacks not just from the thick vines, but also flowers that could spit sharp needles. The large majority of the attacks he faced came from demonic beasts.
Fortunately, these demonic beasts were of rather low-level cultivation. The most powerful demonic beast he had encountered was a Class 4 Lv 6 beast.
After Su Mo searched through the forest for more than 20 hours, he still came up empty.
He found many spiritual herbs, but he could not be bothered to take them.
He started to grow irritated as he looked at the thick mist all around him. He felt like he was blinded and this feeling left him constantly uneasy.
He tamped down his frustration and continued to search the place. Another day passed and still, he had found nothing of significance.
Su Mo then stopped his search.
After thinking for a moment, he flew out of the forest and increased his speed of flying.
Since this forest did not have the blood-striped seed, he would search elsewhere.
After flying for three days, Su Mo’s face darkened as he found himself unable to fly out of this forest.
He was completely lost!
