This Earth Is A Bit Fearsome - Chapter 82
Chapter 82: The Falling Star of Mount Tai Incident
“Decent progress indeed!”
Lu Xuan patted Lu Shanshan’s head and found that she had been progressing well indeed.
However, her progress was actually nothing short of absolutely frightening when compared to the world at large, as she had not been training for long.
Even really talented people would have been regarded as geniuses if they were able to get to level three Hidden Energy level after training for ten years before spirit qi was restored to the world.
But then again, her progress would have been on the faster side, nonetheless, even if spirit qi was indeed restored to the world.
In Lu Xuan’s eyes, however, his sister was only doing decently due to her constitution being extraordinary to begin with. Such a rate of progress was nothing to brag about at all.
Said progress was achieved without Lu Xuan being able to provide ample cultivation resources to his family. If they had been training in some sacred grounds of cultivation he knew of back in his past life, he would have been able to provide the best resources to further their training. Lu Xuan had seen his fair share of astonishing geniuses capable of solidifying their foundation in just a single night.
The one who progressed the quickest in his family, at the moment, was not Lu Shanshan, whom he had high opinions of, but his mother, Liu Wanrong.
His mother’s progress was unlike any other, given how she was able to work while spending time training. She was already at Level Three at the moment, trying to make the breakthrough into Level Four.
Lu Shanshan was the second fastest after his mother, who was about to make it to Level Three.
Lu Guoguo and his father, Lu Tianxiang, were still quite a distance away from reaching Level Two.
Lu Guoguo was such because she was still too young to sit still. Getting her to sit down and train would have required a lot of guidance. His father, Lu Tianxiang, on the other hand, was unable to progress quickly due to an inherent lack of talent.
But then again, if outsiders were to found out the rate at which the family progressed, they would have probably been astonished nonetheless.
“That so, eh?” Lu Shanshan laughed and made a v-gesture with her hand, continuing, “Didn’t I say that I was a girl genius?”
“Hey, since you spent your days cooped up in the house cultivating, you aren’t gonna get yourself a girlfriend, you know that?” Lu Shanshan took a look at Lu Xuan and said, “Mom said nothing happened between you and any girl she introduced to you to, and that it was quite a waste. Lin Miaoyi sure looked pretty—well, not as pretty as your girl genius little sister here, but you won’t be messing up the genes of the family marrying her. It’d sure as hell be a good way to ensure my nieces and nephews have good genes!”
Lu Xuan was both amused and exasperated by how cheeky his sister was. He then ruffled her hair and said, “You’ve gotten quite bold, I see, daring to tease your brother with such things and all.”
Lu Shanshan huffed and puffed as she swatted her brother’s hand away, continuing, “Oh please, brother. What era do you think we’re in now? Do you know of anything called ‘middle-aged people’? Anybody older than 20 and still not dating is considered middle-aged. And people like you are veterans when it comes to being middle-aged!”
Lu Xuan then glared at Lu Shanshan and said, “We single men are known as ‘single dogs.’ Do you know what they call people like you without boyfriends?”
Lu Shanshan asked, “What do people call us?”
“Bane-of-dogs,” Lu Xuan shot a condescending look at Lu Shanshan and said.
However, he quickly shot a warning look at his sister and continued, “But I’m telling you, you’re still too young to date, and you best keep that in mind. I’d break the guy’s leg if you dare did anything.”
Lu Shanshan shot a ridiculous look at her brother and said, “Yeah sure, I’m not gonna date anyway. The guys I know are all childish pricks and little more.”
Lu Xuan put any pent up animosity away after seeing his sister giving such a definitive answer.
“Alright, enough chatter. Get back to cultivating, and don’t bother coming out before making your breakthrough. Come to me if you have any questions,” Lu Xuan added.
“Will do.” Lu Shanshan nodded.
His gaze became increasingly sharp and menacing after seeing his sister walking back to her room. He did not have much time left. There were only three months left at most.
According to what he remembered, the restoration of spirit qi would have gotten more profound before long, and peculiar happenings would have taken place with increased frequency. The government would not have been able to keep things under wraps for long and would have to tell the world what happened.
He had to be powerful enough before that happened.
It was especially so due to the presence of the Luo Clan, which was like a Sword of Damocles to him. However, he did not have any certainty of being able to handle the backlash from the Luo Clan and the Taichu Path, which was the force behind the clan, after he was done wrecking the clan.
He would not have wanted to suffer serious retaliation of failing to get rid of the likes of the Luo Clan once and for all.
Since he intended to get rid of them, he saw it fit to be thorough with it and be strong enough to quell any retaliation.
As such, Lu Xuan saw it fit to hold all his killing intent in at the moment, waiting for better opportunities to make his move in the future.
He also had no intention of alerting the enemy before that, wanting to maintain the illusion of the Luo Clan being capable of easily wiping him out any time they fancied, not knowing that he was amassing power at an unbelievable rate.
Time seemed to fly as one cultivated. Ten days passed before he knew it.
As time passed, more and more peculiar happenings took place in society. A lot of surreal things happened around everyone.
The existence of cultivators began to gradually spread in smaller circles.
The government chose to continue to stay quiet about it all, not even bothering to bring any of it up.
Lu Xuan, who was cultivating in isolation for the night, received a call from Yun Sheng out of the blue.
“Chief Yun, what made you call me at such a late hour?” Lu Xuan asked, feeling something was off.
“Mr. Lu, very urgent matters!” Yun Sheng’s anxiousness from the other end of the phone was unmistakable.
“What happened?” Lu Xuan looked serious all of a sudden. He knew that Yun Sheng would not have called him all so suddenly if what happened was something they could have handled.
“Have you heard the news about a meteor hitting Mount Tai two nights ago?” Yun Sheng asked.
Lu Xuan recalled something right away when Yun Sheng brought that up. The news that caught everyone’s attention for the past two days had been the thing about a meteor crashing from the sky.
It happened two days ago when the sky had just turned dark. A huge meteor fell into Earth’s orbit and crashed into Mount Tai at a frightening speed.
There had not been many tourists getting off the mountain at that time, and some who had gotten off of the mountain were resting at the base.
All of them caught sight of that astonishing phenomenon.
That would not have been that much news if that was all that happened. What made the scene so eye-catching was how Mount Tai burst into a towering glow the very instant the meteor hit the mountain, which was bright and dazzling enough to turn night into day.
The dazzling lights actually turned into a huge barrier that shrouded the entire mountain. That meteor vanished into thin air as soon as it crashed into the mountain.
The sighting spread throughout the world in just a single night. Many took pictures of that surreal happening on their phones.
It could have even been said that Mount Tai became world-renowned in just one night.
However, all talk about what happened at Mount Tai disappeared the next day. Everyone understood that someone clamped down on the news, yet the rumors about Mount Tai nonetheless circulated overseas, and many circumvented the censorship to see videos of that spectacular happening.
That happening that came to be known as the “Falling Star of Mount Tai Incident.”
