This Earth Is A Bit Fearsome - Chapter 320
Chapter 320: A Sword Taking on Lightning Bolts
“So, you set us up too then?” Cain looked at Lu Xuan with a wary expression as he asked.
Lu Xuan snickered as he replied, “I was once a nobody, and I’ve been met with countless powerful enemies on my journey of cultivation. I had also resorted to whatever means I had at my disposal out of desperation. But do you people really think I’m still who I once was?
“You lot really think highly of yourselves, don’t you? Do you really think I need to even lay out traps just to snare the lot of you?” Lu Xuan’s voice shook the air around him, making him look extremely imposing. The effect was so pronounced that one could hear him clearly despite being in a blizzard.
“You really know how to talk big.” Cain laughed coldly as he heard Lu Xuan talk.
The Dark Spellcaster Emperor was unable to sit around anymore after hearing that, interrupting their chatter right away. “Enough chit-chat. We’ll just have to kill him and be done with it. I’m gonna make a specimen out of his dead body. I’m really interested in looking into just how is he different from common humans.”
He then performed a seal with his hands right away. A frighteningly bolt of black lightning came blasting from above right onto where Lu Xuan stood.
Boom!
A huge rumble was heard as the black lightning cleaved through the air, enveloping Lu Xuan’s entire being.
Lu Xuan was shrouded in a golden dragon construct in a split second.
The lightning bolt came crashing down onto the dragon construct but was quickly reduced to smoke as soon as the attack connected with that golden dragon.
The Dark Spellcaster Emperor was dumbfounded by what he just saw. He totally did not expect Lu Xuan’s Shield of Vigor was that resilience.
People who trained in the dark arts or dark beings alike were very wary of the power of lightning.
That was because the power of lightning was of the extreme Yang end in the Yin-Yang spectrum, which made it something that could completely overwhelm the dark art practitioners or dark beings.
However, things were different in that Dark Spellcaster Emperor’s case, as he acquired a way through some encounter, for training in such dark lightning arts.
That dark lightning bolt attack was the complete antithesis of the usual lightning, as it was at the extreme Yin end of the spectrum instead. Anyone who was hit by such an attack would have ended up encroached by dark powers, even if they were to be of Airborne Realm and if they somehow managed to survive.
It was just like a blot on a piece of white paper, which was near impossible to do so. As such, that attack itself struck fear into the minds of many common cultivators.
However, he had never seen the likes of Lu Xuan, who took the attack unperturbed.
“What? This is all you’ve got? It seems like the title of ‘Dark Spellcaster Emperor’ isn’t much of a big deal after all.”
Lu Xuan then continued while looking at the other man, “If this is all you people can bring to the table today, I’m afraid the Covenant of Darkness will no longer exist from here on out.
“There shall no longer be a Covenant of Darkness on Earth, starting from today.”
Lu Xuan then grabbed at the air as soon as he finished. The Dragonslayer appeared in his hand. He was finally getting serious about killing those before him—the members of the Covenant of Darkness, who went out of their way to set him up and kill him. He was about to bring his strongest means to get rid of the covenant.
Clang!
The Dragonslayer shot to the air as it rang furiously, shooting into the air like a beam of a rainbow.
The Dark Spellcaster Emperor smirked and broke out a scepter in his hand.
The scepter was fashioned in the form of a lightning bolt. What was different was that the bolt of lightning was pitch-black.
The Dark Spellcaster Emperor then extended his scepter and brought about a bolt of lightning about as thick as a bowl’s diameter, blasting at Lu Xuan right away.
Lu Xuan simply retaliated with a frightening blast of sword aura, which shot into the air, cleaving that bolt of black lightning apart.
While the lightning bolt attack was extremely fast, Lu Xuan was by no means slow as well.
Boom!
The sword aura connected with the lightning bolt right away. Both were moving at extreme speeds as the clashing of the attacks exploded.
The Dark Spellcaster Emperor never expected Lu Xuan to be able to react so quickly. It seemed to have taken him only an instant to react to it.
The feat of cleaving a lightning bolt with sword aura was deemed to be something ungodly.
The Dark Spellcaster Emperor had seen people giving it their all in resisting the blast while some others simply evaded the attack reflexively. However, he had never seen someone capable of meeting his lightning bolt attack with an attack of their own.
A bolt of lightning traveled at the speed of light, which was 300 kilometers per second, after all.
Lu Xuan took another swing with his sword again after cleaving that bolt of lightning apart, aiming for the Dark Spellcaster Emperor instead.
The Dark Spellcaster Emperor, on the other hand, never expected Lu Xuan to be able to resist his lightning attack, to begin with. As such, he was totally unprepared to take on an attack from his opponent. He had also never expected Lu Xuan to be able to react that quickly.
“Sh*t!”
The sword aura blast connected squarely on him before he was even able to react.
Pfft!
The Dark Spellcaster Emperor spat up blood right away as he reeled from the attack. That attack did not manage to cut him in half, but that was only because the attack triggered a dark spell that he had embedded in his body a long time ago.
That dark spell was a defense spell. While its presence remained inconspicuous in most situations, it was something that was triggered instinctively when the user was in mortal danger, and it was frighteningly powerful.
However, usual circumstances dictated that he would have been able to emerge totally unscathed after the spell was triggered right away.
Yet, he was still injured by that blast of sword aura nonetheless. He was still reeling in shock at that moment. That attack from Lu Xuan had exceeded the very limit he could imagine.
“You’re still alive?” Lu Xuan frowned, noting that the other man had a lot of tricks up his sleeve. However, Lu Xuan continued to show a complete lack of care, as the sheer power of ample magnitude could bulldoze its way over all trickery and maneuvers after all.
No means of complex techniques could hold water when faced with absolutely overwhelming powers.
Shoop!
Lu Xuan brought yet another blast of sword aura right at the Dark Spellcaster Emperor.
The Dark Spellcaster Emperor, given his state, was totally unable to react in time. He had never expected his opponent to be so overwhelmingly formidable, bringing about one slash after another. It was as if Lu Xuan actually intended to overrun through everything with his sword.
Lu Xuan did not give him any chance at all.
Just as the blast of sword aura was about to hit its target, a fury and huge fist connected with that sword aura attack, dispelling it in midair.
Lu Xuan saw the one who rescued the Dark Spellcaster Emperor to be none other than Ivanov the Wolf King.
Ivanov the Wolf King was able to transform in the nick of time and bashed through Lu Xuan’s sword aura attack with his fist alone. He saved the Dark Spellcaster Emperor at that very moment of crisis.
The Dark Spellcaster Emperor was relieved; however, he quickly discovered that Ivanov’s fist was completely bloodied, and the Wolf King’s knuckles seemed to have cracked.
He was completely stunned by what he saw. He had worked with and fought against that old rival of his throughout history. He knew all too well just how formidably resilient the other man’s constitution was.
The werewolves were incapable of casting spells or other types of mystical feats. All they had to rely on was their unbelievably resilient body.
To his knowledge, Ivanov’s resilience had reached such a frightening degree that he could actually take blasts from missiles squarely without flinching. That fury pelt all over his body served as his strongest shielding.
It was just near impossible to actually deal any damage to Ivanov, to begin with.
