The Young Urban Doctor Novel - Chapter 13
Chapter 13: Forgive Me For It Is Not The Time To Meet
With just too many people and someone blocking her car, the lady was agitated. She lowered the driver’s window, took out a stack of cash from her pouch, and screamed at Luo Ziling, “Hey! Country boy, you want to cheat me for money, don’t you? Here, take it. Move aside! Don’t block the way!”
Luo Ziling helped himself. He reached out and took the stack of money but only picked out six bills.
“I wasn’t injured. There is no need for you to compensate for anything else. I only need the money for the phone.”
The Redmi phone costs only five hundred and ninety-nine, so Luo Ziling picked out six bills and returned the rest to the pretty lady in the car, along with a single dollar coin he took out from his pocket.
“This is your change.”
Instinctively, she reached her hand out to accept the coin. When she realized what she had done, she got even angrier quickly and threw the coin at him before stepping on the gas pedal and drove away. She could even be heard screaming “bastard!” as she stuck out her middle finger through the window.
When the lady threw the coin back at him, Luo Ziling swiftly caught it with his hands.
He thought about it and stuffed the coin back into his pocket. He figured that if he met her again, he would give the one-dollar coin to her. He had only spent five hundred and ninety-nine for the phone and that is the amount she needed to compensate him.
Additionally, he kept the destroyed phone since it was necessary for him to give it to her for her to settle it herself.
It wouldn’t be fair if he didn’t.
“Woah. That’s a limited edition Ferrari. I think it costs more than five million…” Cao Jianhui, with a darb expression hanging on his face, turned his head as his eyes were glued to the vanishing red sports car.
“A beautiful lady driving a sports car. She might be someone’s sugar baby. Most of the school beauties are taken in by rich folks. She might not be a student here even… Just some young lady living close by.”
“Was that really a limited edition Ferrari?” Wu Longjiang asked curiously. “You know about sports cars?”
“I did my research. I know a little,” Cao Jianhui said, giving off a mysterious vibe.
“I also know that there are less than fifty of that car in China. Average them out evenly throughout the states and provinces, there should be around only one or two in each province. We are incredibly lucky to have seen that car near the campus,” Cao Jianhui explained immediately to flaunt his knowledge of cars, leaving Li Fuming and Wu Longjiang in awe.
Luo Ziling had no knowledge about sports cars and had no interest in that area anyway. He was rather preoccupied with the phone he had just bought.
“This is useless… I have to buy a new one. Again,” Luo Ziling groaned as he held the broken phone; the screen was cracked like a spider’s web. Sulking, he mumbled, “Why am I so unlucky to have had my brand new phone destroyed…”
“Boss, you’re not unlucky. You’re just not good enough in seizing an opportunity.”
Cao Jianhui came over to his side, trying to teach him a lesson with a smug look on his face.
“Did you have a good look at that lady just now? She’s gorgeous! And she drives a luxurious car. So, the two of you got off the wrong foot. You should take this chance and get closer to her. Next time, get her contact. And when you do, you can choose not to demand her to compensate for your phone. Have her treat you for a meal, or coffee, in exchange. You’re handsome. You should get her to look at you more. You too, should look at her more. Who knows, she might actually like you!”
Both Wu Longjiang and Li Fuming listened to Cao Jianhui’s speech and could only watch, eyes widened with admiration.
“Second Brother is giving classic advice to pick up girls! Big Brother, you should cherish it or it would be a waste!” Wu Longjiang said as he shook his head with disapproval. “Shame that it wasn’t me that got shocked by the girl! Ahhh! Why does fate never help those that are ready for it!”
With someone’s validation, Cao Jianhui’s ego was inflated. He reached out his hands and patted Luo Ziling’s shoulder hard, putting on a wise-like tone before continuing, “Big Brother, you might be the oldest amongst us but when it comes to the game of scoring girls, you’re just a toddler. Perhaps, you should learn from this big brother. No, wait… You’re the big brother. Ugh… Nevertheless, you should learn from me. I will teach you every way to get a girl’s heart… Burp…”
Cao Jianhui spoke enthusiastically but belched halfway through. When he recovered, he stopped talking, as if he had forgotten that he was actually talking to Luo Ziling not five seconds ago. Instead of finishing what he was saying, he patted Luo Ziling’s back to signify that what he said earlier was meaningful.
“Didn’t you say something about her being someone’s sugar baby?” Luo Ziling refuted coldly.
Cao Jianhui, dazed, scratched his head and patted Luo Ziling’s back once more.
“That is just a random guess. She might actually be from a rich family herself. Commonly, no sugar baby could be that rich to drive that kind of super car!”
Luo Ziling had enough with Cao Jianhui’s drunk talk. He left the three of them for a while to buy the same phone and returned to the dormitory with the guys.
Even though Luo Ziling was unhappy for having had his new phone destroyed, after purchasing a new one, his mood got a little lighter.
Back at his place, Luo Ziling sent a short message to Li Jing and provided her with his contact number.
Li Jing responded quickly, replying with a short message informing Luo Ziling that she had saved his number.
A while later, she sent another message, asking Luo Ziling to add her WeChat account, which was her phone number. After he added her into his friend list, she would then send the pictures she took.
Luo Ziling agreed.
However, the phone was new and many of its features were still unfamiliar to Luo Ziling. He tried and tried but could not add her to his own WeChat friends list.
He then sent another message, apologizing for his unfamiliarity with new technology. He’ll have to wait until he gets used to his phone.
Li Jing naturally agreed.
Seeing as Luo Ziling had sent so many short messages to her, she felt a little guilty and after giving it some thought, she decided to take screenshots and send all of them to another person, including Luo Ziling’s phone number.
The person received the screenshots shortly. After looking at all the pictures, the corner of her eyes started to turn red.
The woman that sat behind a very large desk inside an office was beautiful in every way. All her facial features were so perfect that none could find a flaw. Her hair was tied up high and neatly which exposed and emphasized the slender neck that was equally flawless. Her entire appearance exuded utmost regality, the kind that made men refuse to avert their gaze if they were to lay eyes on her.
After looking through the screenshots, and the number of the sender, she failed to restrain herself and reached for the phone on her desk.
Just as she was about to hit the last of the eight numbers, she put the phone back down and let out a long sigh.
She opened one of the drawers and withdrew a few pictures before looking through them thoroughly.
Her misty eyes started to swell. Tears were rolling down her cheeks uncontrollably. She didn’t bother to wipe them off as she only cared about fixating her attention to the little young boy in the pictures.
His youth, his bashfulness, his cautiousness… and that smile that was as pure as spring water that flows down the mountain… The boy in that picture was all that is…
Her tears flowed harder, faster… The kind only a loving mother could shed.
As she looked at the picture emotionally, her fingers traced the photo, toward the face of the young boy. She whispered to herself, “It has been nineteen years and you are already twenty years old. How time flies… I have done what I could to seize the best of opportunities for you to come to Yenching. Forgive me for not showing myself. Forgive me… They wouldn’t allow us to see each other yet. But rest assured, we will soon meet each other again…”
