[Simulation Count: 2]
In the training ground, as Milton Cheney’s final sword strike swung out, the attribute panel popped up before him.
Two months passed, and Cheney mastered both the Star Fire Arrow and Armor
Splitting Slash, breaking into the skilled level.
This was the result of Cheney’s diligent practice day and night.
It should be noted that Cheney has spent significantly more time in the training ground and shooting range than sleeping over these two months.
This was the result of his real-life cultivation, not relying on the external plugin, the simulator.
Like Cheney had expected, the simulator count could indeed accumulate, which was the most significant result.
Cheney was not sure if there was an upper limit to the count; he just had a sense that it wouldn’t have one.
But of course, without trials, no conclusion could be reached.
Without using up the newly accumulated simulator count, Cheney turned off the blue transparent light screen.
He was surprised not to have encountered a single assassination attempt over the past two months.
It was clear that the Golden Lion Family was making its move; in the simulator, he had faced multiple assassination attempts within that year.
Being backed by the Golden Lion Family, Cheney just needed to focus on training every day without being disturbed by other matters.
After turning off the transparent screen, Cheney sheathed his long sword on his belt and left the training ground.
But on his way back, Cheney bumped into an unexpected figure.
“Mr. Elm, is there something you need from me?”
Cheney looked at Elm Wein, who clearly had come seeking him, and gently asked.
Even though Cheney hadn’t seen this man since he arrived in this world, Elm Wein wasn’t a stranger in his memories.
That was because Elm Wein was one of Earl Arthur – his father’s right-hand men, also known as the Dark Night Knight, a Grand Knight.
Elm Wein looked Cheney up and down. It had been some time since he had last seen his young master.
The young master’s changes over the past few months had been so substantial that he found him almost unrecognizable.
“Young Master, our family is hosting an auction. The Old Master asked me to see if you’re interested,” Elm said, watching Cheney closely as he spoke.
“Auction?
Cheney blinked, not immediately declining or accepting.
After a moment of contemplation, an idea sparked in Cheney’s mind.
“Mr. Elm, do you know when the auction will take place?”
“In ten days, at the Golden Lion Auction House in the Far East Territory,” Elm replied.
Upon hearing this, Cheney fell silent, reflecting.
What Cheney was considering was, of course, his safety.
His father, Earl Arthur, entrusting Elm with this message signified that the threat of the Black Robe Seekers’ Club had been accounted for.
Although Cheney knew the chance of danger was minute, he had to be thorough.
After all, real life wasn’t a simulation; he only had one life to live.
“I’ll think about it. I’ll tell my father my decision three days before the auction starts.”
Cheney didn’t immediately agree but replied that he’d think it over.
He wasn’t really contemplating but wanted to use the simulator to assess the situation.
If there was any risk, he would lay low. Otherwise, it would be a good opportunity for him to broaden his horizons.
Elm nodded at Cheney’s response, which was within his expectations.
Elm had been investigating the ongoing affairs of the Golden Lion Family, so he knew about some inside stories.
Having bid Elm farewell, Cheney returned to his room at the small estate.
Without hesitation, Cheney focused his consciousness on the Simulator Count on his transparent screen.
Having decided to use the simulator for reconnaissance, Cheney didn’t hesitate.
The simulator count wasn’t going to multiply on its own, after all.
Now that he confirmed that the count could pile up, he could use it any time he wanted.
[Would you like to start the Life Simulation?]
“Yes”
With Milton Cheney’s affirmation in his heart, a stream of black text began to appear.
Milton Cheney zeroed in on the black words representing this round of his simulation.
[Life Simulation started, due to an outdated version of the Simulator, you are
only provided with a Text Simulation.]
[Seventeen years old: After hearing the news of the Auction House you chose to broaden your horizon rather than rejecting the opportunity. You encountered many treasures in the Auction House, which greatly increased your insight. One of the auction items was an inconspicuous Ancient Bronze Key, which was obtained by a black-robed man. You found that man unusual, but didn’t give it a second thought.]
[Eighteen years old: This year, the assassination attempt on you did not occur and your father, Earl Arthur, revealed that the Black Robe Seekers’ Club had disappeared. The club’s plan to target the Golden Lion Family was also ceased.]
[Nineteen years old: As you trained as usual, you attended the annual Hunting Day; although it was not presided by Nellie Lilith as usual. You were a bit disappointed but there were not any lingering emotions. After all, losing distraction from the opposite sex helped you improve your sword drawing speed.]
[Twenty years old: You continued to train as usual and nothing unusual happened this year.]
[Twenty-three years old: You continued training, your father allocated you a territory, and you married a daughter of an Earl.]
[Twenty-five years old: You started to develop a strong resistance to the
Golden Lion Secret Medicine, and your advancement in the Breathing Technique slowed significantly. You planned to use a Magic Potion for cultivation and informed this to your father. Earl Arthur promised to help you find a useful Magic Potion for the Breathing Technique.]
[Twenty-eight years old: Your elder brother returned to inherit the title of Earl, the same year your first daughter was born, and you resolved to travel across the Kingdom.]
[Thirty years old: You returned from the Kingdom tour, and that same year your first son was born. You began managing your small territory and continued to strengthen your Life Seed day by day through practicing the Breathing Technique.]
[Thirty-two years old: Your elder brother, Nicholas Wesley, bought you a Magic Potion. After consuming it, you discovered a significant growth in your Life Seed.]
[Thirty-five years old: The Grand Duke Goshawk initiated a Lord Wars. Your elder brother led the Golden Lion Family to join the Grand Duke Goshawk’s camp resulting in remarkable victory and territorial expansion. Your elder brother was conferred the title of Marquis by the Kingdom and was known as the Marquis of the Golden Lion. The influence of the Golden Lion Family grew even stronger.]
[Forty years old: Your elder brother Nicholas Wesley joined the royal family. You inherited the title of Marquis and the same year your second son was born.]
[Forty-two years old: Your power reached its zenith and the Golden Lion Family flourished under your rule.]
[Forty-five years old: You failed to break through to become a Grand Knight despite having the whole family resources at your disposal. However, you have as many as four Grand Knights under your control, each one of them you named one of the Four Horsemen of Apocalypse.]
[Forty-six years old: Even though your father had retired, he has not given up on cultivation. This year, he broke through to the realm of Epic Knight, leading to great celebration within the family.]
[Fifty years old: You were still an Official Knight, but at the top level, mastering countless Knight Skills, comparable to a Grand Knight.]
[Fifty-one years old: The Lord Wars broke out, but unlike the previous ones, you were the manipulator this time. With an Epic Knight in the background, the Golden Lion Family easily crushed its competition sparing innocents and forcing countless households to yield due to its great power.]
[Fifty-three years old: You were granted the title of Duke by the Kingdom, becoming Duke of the Golden Lions. You joined the Kingdom Parliament and the entire East River Province fell under the territory of the Golden Lion Family.]
[Fifty-five years old: You began to seek the Wizard Path. You found several Wizard Apprentices, gave a countless number of gifts but were disappointed as the Meditation Technique couldn’t be taught directly. If one wishes to practice the Meditation Technique, they must go to the Wizard Continent. The Wizard Apprentices in the Kingdom were actually those who had returned from the
Wizard Continent.]
[Sixty years old: At this point, the Golden Lion Family had developed into one of the largest families in the Kingdom under your rule, their power even surpassing that of the Grand Duke Goshawk.]
[Sixty-two years old: You passed on the title of Duke to your eldest son, Zeus Wesley. The thirty-two-year-old Zeus was already a true Grand Knight.]
[Sixty-five years old: Even though your body was getting old, you set sail for the Wizard Continent ignoring objections from your family.]
[Sixty-six years old: You were lucky, you successfully arrived at the Wizard Continent which was two continents away from the Subcontinent.]
[Sixty-seven years old: You died, you were burnt to ashes by a Flame spell, a
Zero Ring Magic released by a Level 3 Wizard Apprentice.]
[Simulation Ends, Please choose your reward!]
[Retain Realm] or [Retain Technique]
“This…”
Milton Cheney didn’t immediately choose to Retain his Realm or Techniques. He needed to digest this round of simulation first,
He didn’t expect that an exploration trip for an auction in his dreams would turn out to be his longest simulation to date.
Not only was he not killed in the dream this time, but he even became a Grand Duke of the Kingdom and finally arrived at the Wizard Continent. If the simulator were a game, his rating for this round would be at least S grade.
Seizing the moment before the black letters went away, Milton Cheney ran through this simulation again.
Upon re-evaluating, he finally found the butterfly that flapped its wings.
[Among the items auctioned was an inconspicuous Ancient Bronze Key. This item was won by a black-dressed man, who you found strange but did not care much for.]
“Ancient Bronze Key, was it because of this Ancient Bronze Key?”
If there was any distinction between this simulation and the previous ones, the only probable one was the Ancient Bronze Key mentioned by the simulator when he was 17 years old.
“So the one who won the Ancient Bronze Key was from the Black Robe Seekers’ Club?
Because of this key, the Black Robe Seekers’ Club stopped targeting the Golden Lion Family?
That’s why the Golden Lion Family flourished later on?”
Milton Cheney pondered. He was not sure yet.
However, he knew a way to figure it out.
“Retain Realm!”
After whispering these four words in his heart, Milton Cheney felt the changes in his body.
Another string of black letters floated before him. [Would you like to start the Life Simulation?]
‘Yes!”
Yes, he planned for a second simulation to verify his hunch along with another guess he had in mind.
