The Tempestuous Consort - Wilfully Pampered by the Beastly Highness - Chapter 375
Chapter 375: Feng Tianlan’s Confession
Luo Yunzhu shouted from the back, “Tianlan did not mean what she said! She likes you. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have wanted you to be the first to see her restored looks.”
Hearing these words, Feng Tianlan ran faster. Si Mobai was in a good mood since he’d allowed her to take him along.
“I was the first to see your restored looks?” Si Mobai smirked. Judging from Luo Yunzhu’s astonishment when she’d seen her best friend, he believed that he indeed was the first to see Lan’er’s restored appearance.
There was no garden in the inn’s backyard, just a little vegetable patch with some seedlings in it.
Feng Tianlan let go of his hand. She looked at the small vegetable seedlings in front of her and pursed her lips. After a while, she nodded and said, “Yes.”
After receiving this response, Si Mobai raised his eyebrows and smirked. His peach-blossom eyes filled with traces of a smile. It was as if he had glimpsed the world of flowers. There were no words to describe his happiness right now.
“You restored your looks because of me?” Because of his happiness, one could even feel the warmth coming from his usually icy voice.
Si Mobai felt that he was the most blissful man in the world. His affection was finally being returned. Feng Tianlan had feelings for him at last.
Feng Tianlan placed her hand on the fence and said, “Actually, it wasn’t really like that.” However, there was no denying that he was part of the reason.
She did not bother much about her appearance, beautiful or ugly. She disliked a look that was too pretty because beauty brought trouble. However, now that there was someone whom she liked, she cared about what Si Mobai thought of her looks.
“That’s still because of me,” Si Mobai stepped forward and said. He wanted to hold Feng Tianlan in his arms.
“Don’t move. I have something to tell you.” Feng Tianlan moved to the side and avoided Si Mobai’s hug. She was afraid that she could not say what she wanted if he was hugging her.
Si Mobai’s arms froze in mid-air. His newfound happiness was instantly cut short. His cheerfully beating heart became anxious all of a sudden. After staying silent for a while, he conceded in a deep voice, “Alright.”
She’d said that she’d wanted to tell him something since last night. He did not dare guess at what she was about to say.
She grasped the fence, looking at vegetable seedlings, which were standing upright against the wind. She then looked at the small trees with withered leaves in the corner and revisited every single memory she’d shared with Si Mobai since being reborn.
Nothing significant had yet happened between the two of them, but he’d still silently, carefully broken into her world. This was something she could not deny.
The silence made Si Mobai even more nervous. He put down his somewhat moist hands, which were covered in a cold sweat. Thinking about everything they’d been through up until this point, he wanted to laugh. The first time he’d ever killed a human being, he had not even been nervous. He had not been nervous when facing thousands of armies.
However, looking at Feng Tianlan right now was another story. His palms were sweating over some words that she hadn’t even uttered yet. His heart beat wildly, making him felt like he was really a good-for-nothing.
“Si Mobai.”
Just when Si Mobai thought that they were going to remain in silence forever, Feng Tianlan spoke up.
“Yes,” Si Mobai replied. He was flustered, somehow, because her tone was solemn—just like the countless times before when she’d rejected him.
Feng Tianlan took a deep breath, gathered her courage, and turned around. She raised her head, looked at him, and said, “Thank you. Your liking…”
Before she could even finish her sentence, Si Mobai interrupted her coldly, “Feng Tianlan!”
He didn’t want her to thank him for liking her. Besides, what she was about to say was definitely another rejection, so he did not want to listen!
“Let me finish,” Feng Tianlan looked straight at him and said. “Or else you will regret it.”
