The Tale of Hero Alice's Social Death - Chapter 77
Chapter 77 – Morning, Maid, Gigantic Club
After seeing Luna leave, the first thing Alice did was to give everything in the room a touch with her right hand. Of course, she wasn’t doing so because she had suddenly developed a hobby for sexually harassing inanimate objects. Instead, she was trying to check if the Demon King’s Power had tainted anything in the room. If the Demon King’s Power had tainted something in the room, it would mean that Alice would have her every action monitored by the Demon King.
However, to Alice’s surprise, there were no traces of the Demon King’s Power in the room.
Could Chris really be a good guy?
Chris was the Demon King’s Power’s host. If he held malicious intent toward Alice, he would definitely wiretap this room to ensure that he had constant surveillance of Alice’s actions.
Yet, Alice had failed to find anything tainted by the Demon King’s Power in her room. In other words, Chris might not hold any malicious intent toward her after all.
Forget it. I should still be careful even if I’m not being watched.
After thinking it over, Alice felt that she should still limit her actions even if she didn’t find anything tainted by the Demon King’s Power. Of course, she would still take the necessary measures to ensure her safety.
Having made up her mind, Alice took out the small box storing the Hero’s Sword from her bag and opened it. Immediately, the dazzling Hero’s Sword fell out of the box and hit the ground, the sword seemingly trying to complain about the injustice it had suffered through its ungraceful fall.
Not only did it receive a terrible name, but it was even being kept in the cheapest of spatial weapon storages. If the Hero’s Sword had its own conscious thought, the first thing it would do would be to cut Alice.
Unfortunately, the Hero’s Sword did not possess its own consciousness. So, it could only suck it up and accept the fact that its name was “Okay.”
Alice picked up the Hero’s Sword, not worried that Chris might be spying on her. Chris already knew that she was the Hero, in any case. So, there was no need to hide the Hero’s Sword.
After holding the Hero’s Sword in her hand, Alice muttered a short prayer in her mind and quickly noticed a change to the Hero’s Sword’s weapon information.
…
[Weapon: Hero’s Sword – Okay]

Fearless Will (Passive Skill. You will not be affected by mind magic. Individuals or objects that try to apply mental magic on you will suffer a backlash)]
…
It actually worked…
Alice was a little surprised when she sensed the Hero’s Sword’s change. She did not expect the unreliable Loli Goddess to respond so quickly and add the buff to the Hero’s Sword already.
The Fearless Will buff was something Alice had previously seen on Aird. When she thought about how she could resist the Demon King’s Power’s mental attacks before, the first thought that came to Alice’s mind was this buff. So, she relied on the Word of God skill and prayed to the unreliable God for this buff.
Regardless, with the presence of this buff, so long as she wielded the Hero’s Sword, she wouldn’t have to worry about the Demon King’s Power’s mental attacks.
However, Alice quickly discovered a problem—Luna.
Although Luna was currently working as Alice’s maid, her actual job lied with the intelligence agency. Even if Luna currently showed herself to be a competent maid, nobody could tell whether she would do something inappropriate for a maid, such as arbitrarily barging into Alice’s room to wake her up…
…Alice felt that the possibility of Luna doing such a thing was high.
I need to find something to wrap it…
With such thoughts in mind, Alice approached the large wardrobe and opened it. Then, after digging through it for a moment, she found a bedsheet and used it to wrap around the Hero’s Sword, transforming the Hero’s Sword into a large bundle of cloth. Apart from camouflaging the Hero’s Sword, the bedsheet also served to bind the sword with Alice’s right hand, which would prevent the sword from slipping out of Alice’s hand when she fell asleep.
Although the end result of Alice’s work looked a little uncomfortable, the bedsheet’s fabric was soft and comfortable, so Alice didn’t feel any discomfort whatsoever. The only problem with this setup was that her body’s movements would be more restricted when she slept. However, this was a small price to pay for protecting herself from the Demon King’s Power.
After disguising the Hero’s Sword, Alice sat on the bed and let out a yawn. Although she wanted to ask God about the Demon King’s Power right now, she was too tired to do so. Thus, after giving it some thought, she decided to wait until the next day before dealing with the king’s problem.
Perhaps it was because of her uncomfortable rest on the train, or perhaps it was because of this luxurious and comfy bed, but Alice quickly fell asleep after her head hit the pillow. However, partway through her slumber, Alice suddenly shuddered as she felt an inexplicable sense of danger, the dangerous feeling suffocating her.
Alice’s Mind and Control stats had received an 8,000-point bonus thanks to the Hero’s Sword, so any danger she perceived in her current state was undoubtedly real. Thus, upon sensing the danger, she instantly woke up, opened her eyes, and looked toward the source of the dangerous feeling.
Alice was naturally in a sleeping position when she opened her eyes. Meanwhile, the not-so-obvious morning glow coming through the window told her that it should only be five or six o’clock in the morning right now. Yet, despite this early hour, her maid, Luna, had already barged into her room…
…and was currently sitting on her body while wielding a gigantic spiked club that was shrouded by curling black mist with both hands.
