The Tale of Hero Alice's Social Death - Chapter 389
Chapter 389 – Stop Scaring Lilith
Lilith’s behavior in her bedroom was no different than that of ordinary female otakus. She ate the cake she had just bought while watching anime. Occasionally, she would also open up her phone’s messaging application to chat with other people. Simply put, she made herself very comfortable at home.
Unfortunately for Alice, Lilith did not wear earphones or headphones when watching anime, opting to use a set of speakers instead. Had Lilith used earphones, Alice might have had an opportunity to sneak out of the room without Lilith noticing. However, with the current situation, Lilith would most likely be alerted if Alice were to sneak out of the room.
“Hey, Andusia, do you have any way to get me out of here without touching anything in the room?”
After spending a lot of time with Andusia, Alice had already learned how to transmit her voice directly to another person using mana. In reality, it wasn’t a particularly hard trick to pull off. So long as a person had enough control over mana, they could easily learn the technique. While it might be tough for the average person to fulfill this requirement, Alice’s Control stat had long since gone beyond the realm of ordinary people. So, she managed to learn this trick very quickly.
Meanwhile, by using this voice transmission technique, Alice could ensure that she could talk to Andusia without Lilith’s notice.
“How can there be such a convenient method… If I have to mention one, it would probably have to be spatial magic,” Andusia answered helplessly. “But spatial magic is similar to healing magic in that both are a little too complex. Like healing magic, spatial magic also requires the assistance of many magic materials to pull off. It’s impossible for one person to use spatial magic without any external help.”
This was why teleportation arrays could only be found in specialized buildings in towns and cities rather than in every individual household. The amount of materials needed to construct a teleportation array was so significant that it simply wasn’t feasible to build one in every household. Even if Andusia had learned how to use spatial taboos, she would need to carry a bunch of magic materials with her to construct a teleportation array on the spot.
However, Andusia obviously wouldn’t have any interest in learning a taboo that required her to carry around a bunch of items with her. Such a taboo was useless to her. She’d be handicapping herself if she were to carry all these items on her while fighting against the Hero.
Hence, Andusia honestly didn’t have a solution regarding Alice’s question, and she could do nothing but shrug her shoulders to express her inability.
Seeing as even Andusia didn’t have a way to sneak out of the room quietly, Alice felt that her only way to leave unnoticed would be to create a commotion to distract Lilith. Then, she would leave Lilith’s home while Lilith was distracted.
However, this led Alice to another problem—what kind of commotion should she cause to distract Lilith? After all, Alice couldn’t leave the room right now, so it’d be unrealistic to try to create a commotion outside to attract Lilith’s attention. If Alice wanted to cause a commotion, she’d have to do it inside Lilith’s bedroom.
But what could be done to attract Lilith’s attention? Moreover, the commotion couldn’t be too small. At the very least, it’d need to be loud enough to cover the sound Alice made when she opened the bedroom door.
How troublesome…
Alice sighed. She honestly didn’t think Lilith would come home immediately after buying a piece of cake. However, after thinking it over, it made sense Lilith would take such a course of action. After all, it went without saying which option an otaku would choose if given a choice between window shopping and staying at home.
Fortunately, it wasn’t difficult to cause a commotion in the room; Alice had already thought of a way to do so. Wasn’t Lilith in the midst of investigating the loli Dark Guard before she switched to investigating Gunst? In that case, all Alice needed to do was summon the loli Dark Guard in this room.
The only worry Alice had was that Lilith might be given a scare. After all, anybody would be scared if a person suddenly appeared in their room and out of thin air. Not to mention, this person was even supposedly an enemy.
Of course, Alice also knew that since Lilith had already come home, it meant that Lilith’s bodyguard—the warrior named Kurse—should be on standby nearby. So long as Lilith came into danger, Kurse would immediately rush into the house to protect Lilith. While doing so, Kurse would definitely cause a huge commotion, so Alice could use the chaos to leave unnoticed.
After planning her escape, Alice acted on her plan without hesitation. Her invisibility would be running out soon. If she wasted any more time, her invisibility would disappear, and she would be caught red-handed sneaking into Lilith’s house.
Seeing that Lilith currently had her attention focused on her computer monitor, Alice loosened her grip over her magic robe and temporarily dismissed her invisibility. Then, she pulled out the dagger named “It’s So Short” and swiftly activated the “Chaos General” skill, choosing to summon the sledgehammer loli.
After doing so, Alice quickly grabbed her magic robe with her right hand and reactivated Mana Concealment, turning herself invisible again. Then, she had the sledgehammer loli boldly walked up behind Lilith and lifted her massive sledgehammer with both hands.
At this time, Lilith finally noticed the danger approaching her from behind. Hurriedly, she turned around, only to see a dark-skinned loli threatening to flatten her with a menacing sledgehammer.
Goosebumps instantly rose all over Lilith’s body. However, rather than wonder how the dark-skinned loli, whom Kurse had killed previously, had appeared in her room, Lilith hurriedly dodged to a side and evaded the sledgehammer that was descending toward her.
Even after missing its target, though, the sledgehammer did not stop its descent. Instead, it continued falling and hit Lilith’s chair, smashing the chair into countless pieces. Then, it hit the floor and smashed the wooden floor into countless pieces as well.
Fortunately, Alice had instructed the sledgehammer loli to hold back. Hence the sledgehammer’s descent stopped once it hit the concrete underneath the wooden floor. Although the impact caused the house to shake a little, the concrete ground did not break apart. Had the sledgehammer loli used her full strength in that attack, the entire apartment complex would have been demolished. Even if the building didn’t break apart, it would have suffered a fate similar to the Leaning Tower of Pisa.
Meanwhile, Lilith naturally realized that the sledgehammer loli was holding back. After all, she knew how powerful Kurse was and what kind of destruction he was capable of. Yet, even Kurse was put at a disadvantage when he tried to clash with the sledgehammer loli using brute strength.

However, Lilith didn’t think too much about the matter. She simply assumed the sledgehammer loli’s plan was to capture her rather than kill her. Fortunately for her, before the sledgehammer loli could take any further action, the bedroom door suddenly exploded and in came Kurse rushing to her rescue. Immediately afterward, Kurse swung the longsword in his hand at the sledgehammer loli.
When Alice saw Kurse taking only seconds to react to Lilith coming under attack and come to Lilith’s rescue, she had to admit that the man deserved his position as Lilith’s bodyguard. She was also right to guess that Kurse was on standby in a nearby house. Moreover, by the looks of things, the man had most likely charged straight through every door in his way to come to Lilith’s rescue as quickly as possible.
Fortunately, Alice had chosen to hide in the corner of the room instead of behind the bedroom door. Otherwise, Kurse would have most definitely crashed into her. Although Alice wasn’t so weak that she would get sent flying by Kurse, the collision would let Kurse know that another person was concealed in Lilith’s bedroom.
