Chapter 294 – I Was Once Taught a Lesson by Alice in Extreme Rage
“It’s normal that you don’t understand since that woman’s mind works differently from the average person…” When Little Death saw the dumbfounded expressions on Alice’s and Andusia’s faces, she casually shrugged and said, “Miriya probably has the worst gambling addiction out of all the Demon Kings I have served. This is also why she chose to believe this self-proclaimed diviner’s superstitious claims about fate.”
Indeed, if Miriya Hampar had a severe gambling addiction, it wouldn’t be strange for her to trust in superstitious things such as fate. It also wouldn’t be strange for Miriya to put her trust in a support magician whose magic was entirely reliant on luck.
“I didn’t think that woman would be a gambling addict…” Alice nodded to express her understanding. Although she didn’t notice any signs of Miriya being a gambling addict when she fought the other party, since this claim came from Little Death, there was an 80% chance it was true. Then, Alice turned back to the busty demoness and said, “In other words, so long as I increase her mana output, she can attach a stronger status to her targets?”
“Wait, what are you trying to do?!” Andusia yelled in panic. When she heard Alice’s words, her instincts immediately told her something was amiss.
Unfortunately, before Andusia could get away from Alice’s hand, the busty demoness waved her hand and cast her magic on Andusia once more.
The busty demoness had cast the spell without chanting any incantations or gathering her mana, completing the entire process with just a thought. Honestly, her spellcasting efficiency was already on par with the spellcasting efficiency of Heroes and Demons. Of course, for this busty demoness, her proficiency was most likely limited to only her trademark status magic.
“You bastard! Why do you keep using me for your experiments?! Couldn’t you try it on yourself?!” Andusia bellowed angrily at Alice, coughing a few times after being blasted in the face by a significantly larger ball of mana. “Rather than experiment on me, wouldn’t you get a more intuitive feel of the status effect if you experimented on yourself?!”
“But what if I get unlucky and receive the ‘vomiting’ status? I’d end up dirtying this room,” Alice responded with a righteous attitude. “On the other hand, your body might have simulated the five senses of a normal person, but you don’t have any functioning organs to speak of. So, even if you do get hit with a negative status like ‘vomiting,’ you won’t have to worry about experiencing discomfort or making a mess.”
“…You might be right, but it’s still annoying for me.”
When Andusia heard Alice’s explanation and how confidently the girl offered the explanation, she couldn’t help but find herself agreeing with Alice. After all, it was a fact that her insides were made out of wood, so any negative status she suffered would have very little impact on her. Even so, she still found it uncomfortable to be treated like a little white mouse.
If Alice had received a system that allowed her to inspect others’ favorability of her, Andusia’s favorability of her would have definitely reduced by ten just now.
“Well? Do you feel any noticeable changes?” Alice asked with a smile after successfully appeasing Andusia. “Did your physical strength increase? Or do you feel like vomiting? Although you don’t have internal organs, you should still be able to feel the sensation of wanting to puke, right?”
“If you’re talking about changes, I did feel my mana pool inexplicably expanding just now.” A frown formed on Andusia’s face as she tried to sense the changes in her body. Then, she skeptically said, “But that boost in mana quickly disappeared while we were talking. Overall, the increase isn’t significant. I might never have noticed if I wasn’t paying close attention to my body’s condition.”
It would seem that despite her complaints, Andusia had still obediently cooperated with Alice and paid close attention to the changes in her body, even while she was ranting at Alice.
“If a large amount of mana was used, the resulting status wouldn’t be something as simple as a ‘minor increase in mana,'” Little Death said. “Maybe it’s a status like ‘mana increases along with anger.’ I’ve seen this status before. At one instance where the demon realm’s army was getting pushed back by the human army, Miriya had this self-proclaimed diviner make a divination for her in a fit of rage and received this status.”
“Oh? There is such a status?” Alice was a little surprised. “How much did Miriya’s strength increase at the time?”
“Miriya was furious at the time because of the loss. After receiving this status, she charged into the human realm’s army and tried to leverage the huge boost in her mana to get rid of the Hero once and for all,” Little Death said. Then, she shrugged and continued, “Unfortunately, the Hero wasn’t with the army that day, so the human army ended up suffering Miriya’s wrath and annihilated. Moreover, as she was still mad that she didn’t get to kill the Hero, her mana pool grew even larger by the time she returned to the demon realm. If I’m not mistaken, that status lasted for around four or five hours.”
“Oho?” Andusia was pleasantly surprised by Little Death’s explanation. Then, she looked at Alice smugly and said, “Hear that, Alice? You best treat me well right now. Otherwise, if I get angry…”
“Ho? So what if you get angry?” Alice smiled coldly. Then, she activated the Forest Crystal’s mana residing in Andusia’s body, instantly forming an illusory barrier around Andusia’s mana core and partially isolating it.
Immediately, Andusia’s confidence deflated, and she began radiating a depressing aura. It couldn’t be helped. Alice was currently in control of her mana core, so she couldn’t get angry even if Alice taught her a lesson.
“Alright, I understand what this fellow’s ability does now,” Alice said, nodding as she looked at the busty demoness. Then, she raised her hand and returned all four Dark Guards into the dagger.
Although Alice hadn’t tested the other three Dark Guards yet, she already knew what their abilities were through the information feedback she received from the dagger. The three other Dark Guards might be strong, but their abilities weren’t anything unique like the busty demoness.
The loli demoness equipped with a massive sledgehammer was a standard melee combatant. She had a special ability that allowed her to go berserker, increasing her destructive power several times. She could even suppress a Heavenly King for a short period. She was a melee combatant through and through.
The short, pretty boy demon was a genius magician. He was highly proficient in many attributes and even had a few taboos in his repertoire. Although he couldn’t freely cast taboos like Demon Kings and Heroes, his ability to cast taboos without any external aid could achieve wondrous results during a crucial moment.
As for the tall tauren warrior, he was the shining star of the tauren tribe. He could also use the taboos unique to the tauren tribe. Moreover, his entire body was akin to a collection of frightening weapons. It was especially true for his horns. His horns could pierce through Legendary-rated equipment easily, and they could even hold their ground against Artifact-rated weapons.
For these reasons, Miriya had stored a strand of these three individuals’ mana to create Dark Guards with.
