Chapter 281 – The Milu Rabbit’s Life is Also a Life
“So, this is an undead?” Zauna asked as she looked at the severed head that Alice had placed on the dining table. Although she was a little scared of it, her curiosity quickly overwhelmed her fear.
It was also fortunate that the undead did not have blood flowing in their bodies, the lack of blood making Little Death’s severed head look more like a talking puppet head rather than an actual severed head. This served to reduce the fear Zauna felt.
“Hello, little girl,” Little Death greeted Zauna when she saw the other party looking at her curiously. “You can call me Little Death. I will be helping the D… I will be helping Alice for the foreseeable future.”
Before bringing Little Death back, Alice had naturally warned the undead girl not to reveal her identity as the Demon King. Meanwhile, although Little Death didn’t know why Alice was reluctant to reveal herself as the Demon King, she still readily complied with Alice’s request. And because the undead could not lie, Alice felt relieved when she heard that Little Death was willing to cooperate.
As a side note, Alice had recovered the Torres Royal Coin from the leaves and dirt that covered the forest, thanks to Little Death’s help. The coin was connected to the undead girl through some means, so Little Death could easily locate the coin.
Anyway, compared to Zauna, Lalu was much less courageous. So, she was terrified when she came across Little Death’s severed head. At this moment, the loli elf had holed herself up inside her room and refused to come out no matter what. From this situation, it would seem that while the loli elf might hold great curiosity toward the world outside the Elven Forest, she still couldn’t handle psychologically impactful things.
“Fresh meat is here!” Little Death suddenly cried out.
A moment later, a large cart was pushed into the dining room, the cart carrying piles of meat from various animals. Upon seeing this cart, Alice’s eyes were immediately drawn to a pile of Milu Rabbit meat. It was fortunate that the Milu Rabbit hanging off her waist was still unconscious. Otherwise, she didn’t know whether this gruesome sight might traumatize her Milu Rabbit.
The person pushing the cart was Luna. As Alice’s maid, she would naturally be the one to carry out Alice’s orders. Meanwhile, following Luna was Heris. It wasn’t an easy task to acquire so much meat on such short notice. So, it was necessary to pull some strings.
“Is this enough?” Luna asked as she looked at the severed head placed on the dining table, her gaze not at all kind. After all, this undead girl was seemingly trying to vie for the position of Alice’s maid as well. This situation upset her greatly. First, there was Lacey. Now, there was Little Death. Since when did the position of maid become such a hotly contested position?
Little Death didn’t mind Luna’s hostile gaze. Instead, she wobbled her head in a failed attempt to nod and said, “It’s enough! Thank you!”
Little Death was quite polite for an undead. She didn’t behave like the walking corpses recorded in history books. Her thought process and speech made her feel much more like a human or demon than an undead. This situation made Alice wonder how the Torres Royal Family had managed to create an undead like Little Death.
However, considering that Little Death was the only powerful undead capable of serving the various Demon Kings, Little Death was most likely an exception that the Torres Royal Family had created accidentally. Otherwise, there’d be no reason why the Torres Royal Family wouldn’t create hundreds of undead like Little Death and take over the world. Even the Hero would fall if they had to face dozens or hundreds of Four Heavenly King-level combatants simultaneously.
Regardless, because Little Death was nothing more than a head right now, she didn’t have a way to eat by herself. So, Alice had no choice but to feed the undead girl.
Meanwhile, Little Death’s manner of eating was incredibly simple and crude, just like her ability to manipulate mana. As soon as Alice put an entire skinned Milu Rabbit near her mouth, she swiftly devoured the entire thing.
Subsequently, Alice saw a layer of muscles grow underneath Little Death’s head. Then, once the muscles grow to their intended shape, a layer of deathly pale skin grows on top of them. It would seem that Little Death had directly assimilated with the Milu Rabbit meat she had swallowed and turned it into a part of her body, the efficiency of the process stunning Alice.
Of course, the conversion rate wasn’t perfect. Even after consuming an entire Milu Rabbit, Little Death had only recovered half of her neck. Had the conversion process been perfect, Little Death should have regenerated her entire neck. So, it would seem that a lot of meat was lost during the conversion process.
“By the way, this maid of yours is quite something. I have never seen someone who isn’t a Demon King have such an exaggerated amount of dark mana,” Little Death softly whispered to Alice while chewing on a large piece of Kaier beef. “She’s a human-demon half-breed, right? Honestly, I sometimes think she is more of a Demon King than you, who will only release an explosive amount of dark mana when casting a dark-type taboo.”
I know, right? Alice mentally replied, dryly laughing at Little Death’s comment.
Luna was someone who had experienced the Demon King’s Power’s modification. All of Luna’s mana had been converted into pure dark mana. So, even when Luna wasn’t using magic, anyone with a sufficiently powerful spirit would notice the large amount of dark mana dwelling within Luna.
Alice’s mana, on the other hand, remained attributeless normally. Only when she was casting a taboo would her mana transform to the corresponding attribute. If not for Frenzied Screech unleashing an extraordinary amount of dark mana, Little Death might still suspect Alice’s identity as the Demon King even now.
Thankfully, I had a pair of black panties on hand. I should stock up on a few more pairs the next time I visit Rosa’s place, Alice thought.
“I’ll feed her, Alice.”
When Luna saw Alice holding a hushed conversation with Little Death on top of feeding the undead, her irritation skyrocketed. So, she walked up to Alice and took the initiative to take over the job of feeding Little Death.
Alice didn’t object to Luna’s suggestion. Little Death had only regrown her neck after eating several large pieces of meat. At this rate, it would take over an hour before Little Death would make a full recovery, and it would be quite tedious to do nothing but hand-feed an undead for over an hour.
“Oh? You’re going to feed me?”
A look of interest appeared on Little Death’s face when she saw Luna taking away the Doka Bird meat in Alice’s hand. It looked like she had something she wanted to say to Luna. However, as soon as Little Death opened her mouth, Luna stuffed the entire Doka Bird into Little Death’s mouth…
Someone’s in a bad mood, Alice nonchalantly thought when she saw Luna force-feeding the undead girl. Then, she cast Little Death a sympathetic gaze, wholly unaware that she was the cause of Luna’s bad mood.
