The Tale of Hero Alice's Social Death - Chapter 169
Chapter 169 – Finally Meeting the Other Kings
“Long time no see, Lord Hero.”
Hatter’s familiar voice came through the phone, and he sounded like he was in a pretty good state. He no longer sounded tired like when Alice first met him. It would seem that he had mostly recovered from the aftereffects of having the Demon King’s Power influencing his mental state.
“Is it convenient for us to talk now?” Hatter asked.
“I’m alone right now, so just say whatever you have to say,” Alice said after looking around her room. She was by herself in her room since Zauna and Lalu had gone to attend their elective classes, while Luna had returned some books to the library.
“Alright. Do you still remember the matter we discussed a few months ago? The thing about holding a meeting with the other kingdoms’ kings,” Hatter asked. “We had to postpone it because of an unexpected incident.”
Upon being reminded by Hatter, Alice quickly remembered that she had indeed been invited to meet the human realm’s kings a few days after she became the Hero. The meeting was meant to get her acquainted with the rulers of the human realm and prove to these rulers that she was indeed the Hero.
However, the Ymir Kingdom’s king had suddenly died from a heart attack at the time, and the entire Ymir Kingdom had fallen into chaos as a result. To avoid leaking the Hero’s information to the demons, they had no choice but to postpone the meeting until the Ymir Kingdom managed to choose its new king.
Alice had done some research on the Ymir Kingdom. Meanwhile, she found that the person who ended up inheriting the throne appeared to be the late king’s son. In other words, the Ymir Kingdom’s prince.
The prince was a middle-aged man named Celt. He had a majestic appearance, and public opinion of him in the Ymir Kingdom was relatively good. Although he seemed to have a little dark history when he was young, he had become much more mature now.
The succession ceremony was completed about a week ago. When Alice was browsing LINK a few days ago, she had seen the words “succession ceremony” appearing on the trending list, but she didn’t pay much attention to it at the time.
Although a week had passed since the succession ceremony, the Ymir Kingdom had experienced chaos for over a month after the late king died. Thus, after taking the throne, King Celt needed to spend time managing his country’s internal affairs, and only now did he have time to attend the meeting between kings.
“Although the other kings have already seen your picture, we didn’t send your picture to the Ymir Kingdom because of its rather chaotic situation before,” Hatter said, a smile forming on his face when he talked about this matter. “So, the new king still doesn’t know what the Hero actually looks like. I wonder if he’ll be shocked to see you at the meeting?”
“You have really poor taste in jokes…” Alice said. Then, she chuckled as she asked, “By the way, since the other kings have already seen my photo, they should’ve found out that the Hero is your ‘daughter,’ right? Did they not say anything about it to you?”
“Cough… This identity was prepared to give you a more convenient time in the March Academy, so, of course, I told those kings the truth,” Hatter said, his voice turning a little strange when he talked about this matter. He honestly did not expect Catherine to go as far as to arrange Alice as his illegitimate daughter.
“So, when will we meet?” Alice asked after she was done messing with Hatter. “I still need to apply for leave from my teacher.”
“You’re the country’s princess. Even if you don’t ask for leave, who would dare criticize you for skipping class?” Hatter said, chuckling. “The meeting is scheduled for a week later. I’ll have Luna escort you back to the palace once it’s time. Speaking of Luna, she feels different recently. She’s no longer as cold and reticent as before. Do you have any idea what happened?”
“How would I know? Maybe it’s because she likes following me around?” Alice responded nonchalantly.
Alice naturally knew what had happened for Luna to undergo such a change. Luna hid nothing in front of Alice, and she would answer whatever questions Alice asked. Thus, Alice already knew the full story about Luna’s past.
Of course, Alice wouldn’t tell anyone about Luna’s past. She had no idea how others would treat Luna once they knew her history. After all, that was the Demon King they were talking about. Even if the Demon King’s Power had already left Luna’s body, the fact that it had once inhabited her body proved that she used to harbor deep resentment toward the human race.
Alice had personally witnessed the Demon King’s Power leaving Luna’s body, so she naturally believed that Luna’s hatred for humanity had subsided. However, those who hadn’t seen this happening with their own eyes would think that Luna was only hiding her hatred to fool those around her.
Hence, if others learned that Luna used to be the Demon King, the way her surroundings treated her would become incredibly negative.
“Well, whatever the case may be, this is a good change. Luna is incredibly capable. Not only is she strong in combat, but she is also skilled in intelligence gathering. Feel free to ask her for help if you encounter any problems,” Hatter said, not bothering to look too deeply into the matter. A person’s personality could change for many reasons, so Alice wouldn’t necessarily know what had caused Luna’s change. “By the way, I heard you fought against the Demon King in the Elven Forest last month?”
“You’re only asking that now?”
Alice laughed helplessly. Half a month ago, which was also half a month after she left the Elven Forest, news of the battle between the Hero and the Demon King had already made the headlines in various places. Naturally, this piece of news had also occupied the trending list of the human realm’s LINK and the demon realm’s LINKS.
Moreover, some elves had secretly taken pictures and videos of the battle, so the Hero’s grandiose figure had also officially appeared in everyone’s view for the first time. Nobody doubted that this person was the Hero, either, since his description matched what was written on the Hero’s official LINK account.
In addition, the videos the elves took also allowed everyone to realize just how powerful the Hero and the Demon King were. Whether it was the Hero’s Burning Sun or the Demon King’s Dragon’s Shadow, both had left everyone in awe. At the same time, everyone also understood that not just anybody could interfere in the battle between these two transcendental existences.
Yet, despite the huge commotion, Hatter had never called Alice once to inquire about the fight. For a time, Alice even thought that Hatter might have drowned to death in the ocean of documents in his office.
“That’s because I knew you won,” Hatter said, laughing and expressing his confidence in the Hero. “But how did you manage to disguise yourself to look exactly like your fake description? It looks so realistic…”
“Well… Let’s keep this a secret for now. You’ll find out in the future,” Alice said, chuckling. “Is there anything else you want to tell me?”
“That’s it for now. We’ll save our conversation for when we meet next week,” Hatter said. “See you next week, Lord Hero.”
