Chapter 523: Deleting The Surveillance Videos Entirely

Jiang Ningbei felt that these captains were too naive. Although he did not see it with his own eyes, judging from the car alone, he could tell that the driver was none other than Fu Zhi.

Why did she not want to help the International Crime Unit? The reason was simple. During the time when she was not actively taking any tasks or missions from the International Crime Unit, everyone in the organization including him kicked her away and replaced her position.

Had it not been for the new member, or the current captain of the 1st division, the one who replaced Fu Zhi would be the captain of the 2nd division.

The last enemy Jiang Ningbei wanted to make was the Fu Corporation, so he was against the plan.

However, the rest of the captains thought that he was just being gutless and they all looked down on him.

However, he waited for a long while yet he did not receive any response from the captain of the 1st division. Just when he was getting impatient and about to press on, a voice rang out, “No. We can’t do anything to the Fu Corporation.”

The captain of the 2nd division was stunned, as he did not expect the answer as well.

“Are you afraid of the Fu Corporation as well?”

“Fu Zhao has not been very active in recent years, so I don’t think there’s anything we should be wary of.”

“We just need to know the information of the driver. The surveillance video is practically unrecoverable. Then, he turned and looked towards the chatbox of the captain of the 1st division. He had no idea why but he had a hunch that this captain was hard to get along with and that he was much capable than all of the captains here.

Just as the thought surfaced in his mind, the man said, “Send me the link to the video. I will try my best to recover it.”

Jiang Ningbei was startled when he heard what the man had said. The bad hunch inside of him was getting stronger and stronger. He hastily pulled his phone out and sent a text message to Fu Zhi.

[Can the surveillance video that you deleted be recovered?]

It took Fu Zhi about 5 minutes to reply to him. [It’s virtually impossible if you’re the one who tries to fix it.]

Jiang Ningbei was speechless.

It went without saying that the surveillance video could be recovered, not to mention that Fu Zhi did not get the chance to clean up the traces since Li Nanli had woken up.

After roughly ten minutes, a clump of silver which should be the sports car appeared on the screen. Then, the registration plate of the car became clearer. In the next moment, just when they were about to see the face of the driver, the screen blacked out again.

Then, the captain of the 2nd division said, “This happens to us as well. Whenever we’re about to see the face of the driver, the video would crash.”

After multiple failed attempts, even the captain of the 2nd division, who was the best of them, gave up. He even wondered if the driver had an issue with them. Or else, why would he torture them like this?

“This is taking too much time. Let’s just hack into the Fu Corporation’s database.”

Li Nanli did not say anything. He changed into a new interface and tried again.

Everyone waited with bated breath.

The interface of the surveillance video crashed several times, and it really intrigued Li Nanli.

His eyes shone with excitement and his typing speed became even faster.

“Got it,” he said as he sat up from the bed.

The rest of the captains hastily asked, “Who is the driver?”

Li Nanli did not reply. He zoomed into the video, and then a delicate face appeared in his vision. Even though the driver was wearing sunglasses, Li Nanli was still able to recognize who she was at the first glance and he froze.

“Hello? Are you still there?” Captain of the 2nd division asked, “Can you tell us who is the driver now?”

The captain of the 3rd division chimed in, “Yeah, right. Hurry up!”

It was only then Li Nanli snapped himself back into reality. His fingers began to move nimbly around the keyboard and deleted the recovered surveillance video completely.

After roughly 10 minutes, he said, “I’m sorry. It’s a mistake. I couldn’t recover the video as well.”

The rest of the captains were stumped. They all fell silent for a few minutes straight, as they did not know what they should say. Then, after what it seemed like ages, the captain of the 7th division said something, shattering the silence, “Well, this hacker is pretty good, so don’t feel too bad that you can’t recover the video. Can you send the link back to us?”

“About that,” Li Nanli said as he took the cup of warm water from the desk, “I’m sorry but I’ve accidentally deleted it as well.”

“What?!”

All of them were stunned.

Initially, they all thought that Li Nanli might be able to do something about the video, but they did not expect that not only was he not able to recover the video, but he even deleted the link!

That being said, the captains of the 4th and 5th divisions really wanted to shout at Li Nanli, but unfortunately, they did not have the gut to do so.

However, the captain of the 2nd division did not think so. He was only a rank lower than Li Nanli, so he was not afraid of him at all. He said, “How can you make such a low-level mistake? Could it be that you know the driver, so you don’t want us to get to him?”

“Who knows,’ Li Nanli said, “Maybe both of us are entwined by the red thread of fate.”

The rest of the captains became speechless..

“Since the captain of 1st division doesn’t agree to the plan and we have lost the link to the video,” the captain of the 2nd division said as he pinched at the center of his eyebrows, “Captains of 4th and 5th divisions, you guys are to wait at Mount Qiu Ling and see if you can run into the driver or not. Captains of the 6th and 7th divisions, you guys are going to Myanmar today and help them to capture Matthew. We must get to him this time, whatever it takes!”
