“Don’t worry,” Yang Guang said with a disgusted expression. “I don’t want to dirty my hands from punching you. It’s just a waste of energy. You two can even keep the 50,000 Xiaolian just gave you, but with one condition.”
“What is it?” Wu Daming asked.
“Swear that you will have nothing to do with Xiaolian ever again. I want her out of your family,” Yang Guang ordered.
Wu Daming was shocked by the demand and turned to look at his mother.
“Yang Guang, drop the act,” Sun Guihua scoffed. “I won’t believe a word you say until you show us the money.”
“Like h*ll I care if you believe me or not. I have the say in this. Do you agree or not?” Yang Guang roared.
“I’ll agree, if you can give Lai Laosi his money,” Sun Guihua said.
Wu Xiaolian’s face turned pale, and she bit her lips when she heard that her mother was willing to abandon her.
“Very well!” Yang Guang nodded and turned to Lai Laosi. “Get over here. I’ll transfer you the money.”
“Are you serious? Where did you get the money from?” Lai Laosi was completely dumbfounded. He had not expected that Yang Guang was serious about paying him back.
“Why does that matter? 150,000 is a small number for me. Do you want it or not?”
“O…of course I do! I’m no idiot!” Lai Laosi nodded and took his phone out.
Yang Guang’s flip phone did not have the function for him to access his bank account to make the transaction. However, he had transferred a part of his money to Xu Ling to prepare for the greenhouse.
With all that was happening, Yang Guang had decided to push his plan to build a greenhouse back and solve this problem at hand first.
Xu Ling took her phone out and transferred the money to Lai Laosi.
When the middle-aged man saw the 150,000 in his account, he raised his head and smiled like an idiot. “Brat, not bad! You actually found yourself a rich girlfriend.”
“F*ck off! That’s my money!” Yang Guang cursed and ignored Lai Laosi. He then turned to Wu Xiaolian and smiled, “Xiaolian, let’s go home.”
“Okay…” Wu Xiaolian replied in a low, weak tone.
Seeing the state that his sister-in-law was in, Yang Guang turned to Xu Ling and said, “Ling, can you take Yaya back on my bike? I’ll take Xiaolian back with yours.”
Wu Xiaolian’s heart had been broken by her family. There was no way Yang Guang could let her ride back on her own as it would be dangerous.
Xu Ling also saw the state Wu Xiaolian was in and nodded in understanding. “Okay!”
She put the baby sling with Yaya sound asleep inside over her shoulder and started Yang Guang’s bike.
The whole village was dead quiet. Not one person dared to make a sound.
Yang Guang didn’t even want to spend another second in this village. He dragged Wu Xiaolian out of her mother’s home and sat her on the back of Xu Ling’s bike.
When he drove out of the village, he could feel her wrapping her arms around his waist while resting her head on his back.
Her body was trembling, and he soon felt his back getting wet. Knowing that Wu Xiaolian was crying, Yang Guang quickly comforted her, “Xiaolian, don’t worry. I’ll always be there for you.”
Wu Xiaolian did not say a word but nodded.
Just like that, the two of them headed back to Qingshan Village without any conversation while Xu Ling followed behind them with mixed feelings.
Not only had she had never seen anything like what had just happened back there before, but she also had never heard about such a thing before.
When she personally witnessed what Wu Xiaolian had had to go through, she couldn’t help but sympathize with the widow. It also made her think of something else.
Even though Sun Guihua’s cold heart was one of the reasons for that to happen, being poor was also an important factor.
There were people who would abandon their families for money.
When they finally got back home, it was already very late.
Yang Guang stopped the bike in front of his door, and Wu Xiaolian got down first.
Just as she was about to take a step, she lost all the strength in her body and fell toward the floor.
Fortunately, Yang Guang managed to let go of the bike and catch her in time.
Xu Ling also saw what happened and quickly parked her bike as well. “What happened?”
“She’s just heartbroken. She’ll be fine after some rest,” Yang Guang said and helped Wu Xiaolian back to her room.
“I’ll let Yaya rest in my room then. I’ll go and check up on Xiaolian after that.” Xu Ling nodded and took Yaya back to her room.
Yang Guang helped Wu Xiaolian back to her room and let her sit on the chair. He then smiled bitterly and said, “Xiaolian, don’t think too much about what happened tonight. Get a good rest and everything will be fine tomorrow. It’ll be a new start for you when you open your eyes.”
Yang Guang wanted to comfort her, but after saying that, Wu Xiaolian started to sob and hugged Yang Guang. “Guang…why is my life so hard?”
Hearing her cry brought tears to Yang Guang’s eyes as well.
Xu Ling also heard the crying and stopped in front of Wu Xiaolian’s room.
Even though Yang Guang was hugging Wu Xiaolian and could feel her body heat, his heart was very heavy. He kept patting her back and tried to comfort her.
After standing outside for a while, Xu Ling decided to turn around and return to her room.
Yang Guang had no idea how much time had passed until Wu Xiaolian stopped crying and fell asleep in his arms.
He was scared to move, worrying that any slight movement would wake her up.
However, realizing that it wasn’t comfortable for her to sleep in such a position, he decided to slowly pick her up and put her down on her bed.
Yang Guang was stunned when he saw the sweat on her forehead and his heart began to hurt.
Since his arm was still under Wu Xiaolian’s waist, he was about to slowly pull it out when she suddenly hugged him.
“Huh?” Yang Guang exclaimed, knowing that Wu Xiaolian had woken up.
However, he noticed that she kept her eyes shut but her cheeks were starting to turn red. Yang Guang did not know how to react.
With Yang Guang still stunned, Wu Xiaolian suddenly pulled him down toward her.
Just as he was about to fall onto her, Yang Guang quickly stopped the fall by pushing against the bed. He then slowly moved toward the side and lay down next to her.
Wu Xiaolian was still hugging him but she had stopped moving.
Yang Guang’s eyes were opened as wide as possible He couldn’t believe what was happening.
Wu Xiaolian suddenly nudged him a little to look for a comfortable position and fell back asleep.
What is happening? Does she want me to stay with her?
Yang Guang couldn’t help but think. He then convinced himself that she needed someone to be by her side after suffering such a huge shock.
Every woman would need a man who she could rely on, but there was no one for her except for Yang Guang.
Yang Guang understood that Wu Xiaolian was too embarrassed to ask him to stay as it might cause some misunderstanding. Thus, she pretended to pull him down while she was asleep so that he would stay.
Since that was the case, Yang Guang decided to play along and not leave.
However, there was no way he could fall asleep with something that soft in his arms. Their bodies were so close to each other that he could even feel her breathing. That was his first time experiencing such a thing.
But he was afraid to move as well as it might wake Wu Xiaolian up.
Just like that, Yang Guang could only stare at the ceiling throughout the whole night.
It wasn’t until the sun finally rose and the roosters started to crow that Wu Xiaolian finally let go of him and changed position.
When Yang Guang looked at Wu Xiaolian, who was now lying sideways, and noticed how curvy her body was, he couldn’t help but gulp.
Not long after that, he could hear someone tiptoeing outside, which was quickly followed by the door creaking open a little.
When Xu Ling looked inside, her eyes met Yang Guang’s, and both of them were completely stunned.
Yang Guang saw Xu Ling’s eyes widen, and he knew she must have misunderstood the situation. He quickly got up and left Wu Xiaolian’s room.
“It’s not what you think,” Yang Guang said in a low voice.. “It’s definitely not what you think.”
