The Ice-Cold Executive Gets A Wife Novel - Chapter 95
Chapter 95: Are You Avoiding Me?
He pushed the door open and saw Sophia focused on her work. Her gaze was focused, her hands were on the keyboard, her feet were pressed together, and she looked serious.
Her hair fell over her face, covering half of it, giving her a mysterious and unapproachable sense of beauty.
Sebastian smiled, and he couldn’t help but want to get closer. He saw her side profile, and now he could clearly see the fine, soft hairs on her face.
He took a greedy breath. His heart skipped a beat when he smelled the faint scent of her body.
He got closer and closer. She wasn’t distracted, didn’t notice him, and seemed to be troubled by something. Sebastian reached out, wanting to touch the space between her eyebrows that wrinkled tightly.
Before he could get close to Sophia, she grabbed his wrist.
Sophia was not very strong, but he was caught off guard. He stumbled in Sophia’s direction, but he caught himself.
Sebastian was a little surprised. He looked at the fair and slender hand gripping his hand. He felt a slight chill on his arm and his body temperature slowly flowing into the cold hand that slowly became hot.
Sophia grabbed his arm and used a little strength, as if she was afraid that he would escape. This was something he had never experienced before, but he was enjoying it now.
He often felt emotional toward Sophia, but most of the time, he felt distanced. Was it because she was pregnant with someone else’s child?
“What’s wrong with you?” Sophia asked. Did she read his mind?
“Nothing.” Sebastian tried his best to hide it. He looked at Sophia’s face, which was a little strange. In his memory, Sophia was not the same person as the one in front of him.
“Why are you always avoiding me? Are you still angry at me?” Sophia asked straightforwardly. She looked a little confused. She looked at her hand and pulled it back. This damned sense of distance had returned. But Sophia was still staring at Sebastian, waiting for his answer.
“I just don’t want others to misunderstand,” Sebastian explained. He didn’t want others to think that there was something unusual between them. Especially the unusual way he treated her,
“Misunderstand what? Bro?” Sophia broke the ice and asked, and her tone suddenly changed.
The word ‘bro’ made Sebastian’s body go numb. Ever since Sophia started working at NRTE, he had not heard her call him that.
“What did you call me? Say it again.” He ignored her question. He liked to hear Sophia call him that. He wanted to hear Sophia call him ‘bro’.
“Bro.” Sebastian closed his eyes in pleasure.
When he opened his eyes and saw Daisy, he immediately pushed her away. “It’s you! Why are you here?”
Sebastian noticed a thin layer of cold sweat on his forehead.
It turned out to be a dream. He felt something weighing his heart down.
In the dream, Sophia and Daisy’s faces were intertwined. He only recognized them at the last moment. Was it Daisy who had sex with him that night, calling him ‘bro’?
He felt an unspeakable discomfort at the thought of Daisy’s face. It would have been better if it had been Sophia. He imagined Sophia approaching him and holding her in his arms.
Why was he avoiding her? Did it bother her?
But in the days since Sophia had moved up to his floor, Sebastian saw Sophia buried in her work. She was putting in the effort. She knew exactly what she wanted, and she was working in that direction.
Sebastian often wondered, ‘Was she like me?’
He knew that Sophia had made Wright’s forms, and he was even a little disappointed in her. In his heart, Sophia shouldn’t be like this. She should be perfect, and nothing she did should be flawed.
After that day, although he spent most of his time on the twenty-third floor, he tried to avoid bumping into Sophia. Even when he was there, he was mostly with other people. When he passed by her occasionally, Sebastian only glanced at her from the corner of his eyes.
He did not talk to her. On the one hand, he was busy. On the other hand, he always felt that it was best to keep a distance from women, especially at work. But knowing that Sophia was on the twenty-third floor, sitting right outside, made Sebastian feel inexplicably at ease.
After the error in the form, he didn’t punish Sophia, but let Wright take over. Although he was disappointed, he was more considerate. Maybe when Sophia became more skillful, when he was more clear about how to deal with the relationship, Sebastian could teach her something she wanted to learn.
Sebastian had never thought that he would one day go to all this trouble for a woman. A woman who appeared in his life out of nowhere. A woman who was carrying that Norman’s child. The world was crazy. No, he was crazy.
He stood up, intending to leave his office, but when he did, he stopped in his tracks. It was a dream, and he seemed to yearn for it. He wanted to hold on to it.
He stood at the window and looked around. There weren’t many people in the building at the time, but most of them were busy. Sebastian stopped at the window for a moment, then walked over to Sophia’s seat..
