The Ice-Cold Executive Gets A Wife Novel - Chapter 88
Chapter 88: Ask That Intern To See Me
Sophia didn’t understand what Bruce meant when he said, “Especially you.”
When he said that, Sophia couldn’t hear anything off. Was he reminding her not to make a mistake or mocking her for being extra careful?
Sophia didn’t know that even though she hadn’t received any work in half a day, she was exhausted from all the networking and gossips.
She looked at the interns and saw that they were still lively and energetic. Their eyes were glowing, and they were eager to live out their future as interns there.
This made Sophia suddenly miss the time when she wasn’t pregnant. Back then, her mind could work quickly, and her body would never feel tired, even when she was working through the night on her thesis.
But now, everything seemed different.
She had to be extra careful and work extra hard to compete with the interns who were just as good as her.
But was she really good?
Alan might look silly, but when she saw his full name on his badge, she recalled who he was. Alan Chris, in addition to his outstanding grades in finance, he was diligent and studied on his own, leading him to win first place in the National University Math Competition.
Felix, who had a great talent for mathematics, from Rotary University came in second.
Decca was good at communication. Although he looked as old as Sophia and the others, he was about to graduate this summer. Be it his education degree or social experience, he was far ahead of the other three interns.
Jessica, who didn’t like to talk much, looked like Sophia. Usually, Sophia was confident that she could win against Jessica.
After she analyzed the three interns, she became a little uncertain.
“Ah, it’s already noon! I’m hungry. The staff cafeteria is on the fifth floor. Let’s go eat together,” Decca suggested as he looked at the interns in the office and walked to his desk.
“You go ahead. I’m not hungry yet.” Sophia felt a little nauseous due to her fatigue, but she did not want the other interns to see it. She knew that her pregnancy had somewhat affected their opinion of her. She hadn’t forgotten what she claimed she could do during the interview, but when she was here for real, she realized that they were two different things.
Pregnancy did bring a lot of inconveniences, especially in the workplace. But Sophia did not intend to give up. She wanted to prove to everyone that even if she was pregnant, she might not be inferior to them.
“Then, we’ll go first.” No one insisted that she joined them. For a moment, they did not know how to establish a conversation with a pregnant colleague.
So, the three walked to the elevator together.
“Is the chefs cooking today not to your liking?” Wright noticed that the food placed in front of Sebastian was untouched. He asked carefully, “How about I ask them to make a new set?”
“No need. I’ll go to the fifth floor today. ” The fifth floor? Sebastian had never been to the fifth floor since the company was founded.
Although he had informed Bruce what to do, Sebastian was still worried about Sophia.
He cotild tell from Bruce’s expression that he disagreed with Sophia’s special treatment. Sebastian even began to wonder if his decision was too impulsive.
In the past, he had never doubted any of his decisions.
It did not take long for nausea to subside, and Sophia finally felt hungry. She decided to go to the fifth floor to catch up with the three interns who had just gone down. At the very least, she would have some company.
“Have you heard that the financial analysis department has hired a pregnant intern this year?”
“That can’t be. The financial analysis department has always been very strict with male interns.
No matter how outstanding a female employee is, being pregnant will affect her work. ”
The few people in the elevator saw Sophia looking at them, thinking that they had bothered her.
They smiled apologetically at Sophia then lowered their voices, but Sophia could still hear them.
“Right? That department has always been the core of the company and has the largest workload. Two interns from last year’s batch left before the term ended because of the intensity of the work. Pregnant women should stay at home and take care of their health.”
“If they are interns, that means that they haven’t graduated yet, right? Gosh, do they not how to plan their lives properly and have a sense of priority? I don’t understand why the financial analysis department would hire such a person…”
Sophia didn’t think that she would become a topic of discussion in the other departments on the other floors. Even though her nails digging into her palms were starting to hurt, she didn’t relax her grips.
‘I’ll prove myself to you all.’ Although she didn’t say anything, she felt her motivation come back, stronger than ever. She decided to prove her capabilities with actions.
After the crowded elevator stopped on the fifth floor, people left one after another.
At the back of the elevator stood a man with a gloomy expression. He watched as the elevator door slowly closed.
“Wright, ask that new intern to see me this afternoon.”
Wright, on the other end of the phone, obviously knew who the intern he was referring to was..
