The Ice-Cold Executive Gets A Wife Novel - Chapter 187
Chapter 187: Courteous Concern
It was not easy for Sophia to transition to work immediately after returning from the university.
The pregnancy made her increasingly tired, and she was also a little lethargic. Her symptoms were normal, but the longer she was pregnant, the more dependent she became. Once she did not have enough rest, she would feel exhausted.
Sophia did not have much trouble at the beginning of the pregnancy. Instead, she was very excited. After all, it was her child. Everything was so fresh and different. She had so many expectations for the future.
But further into the pregnancy, she began to feel a kind of fatigue and annoyance. In particular, she needed to eat very carefully during pregnancy and pay special attention to her diet. This annoyed her as she had always been a little careless about it. Occasionally, she would feel sad because of the inconvenience of pregnancy, and there were even a few moments when she hated the child.
But most of the time, she loved the child so much even though she had never seen him before. Perhaps this was maternal love. They were connected by blood, after all.
Perhaps it was the pregnancy hormones that made her so fickle, but the child felt so real that she could not help but touch her belly and feel all the changes happening there and the baby’s strong heartbeat.
Sophia was used to this feeling. Although she was very tired and wanted to rest, she knew that she must not let her guard down because she was afraid that if she did that, something would happen to the baby. Although she was worried about nothing, it was better safe than sorry.
Sophia would take out the pregnancy books that Phillips had given her from time to time. Some of the knowledge was so practical and easy to understand. She could not help but sigh. “I see! It’s amazing!” She could not help but appreciate everything that Phillips had done.
In the early stages of pregnancy, Sophia would also study the nutrition she needed and learn some knowledge of pregnancy care because she knew it was best for her and a great benefit to her body. She had always hoped that the baby could grow up healthily.
But since she came to the twenty-third floor of NRTE, she had been too busy to take care of her food. Fortunately, Sebastian had taken care of everything for her, so she didn’t have to worry at all. Sometimes, even when she went home on weekends, Sophia would miss Phil’s cooking.
She didn’t know if it was because she had been too tired recently, but Sophia felt that her appetite was very poor. She often vomited, but she was very quickly hungry, which worried her. She also consulted the doctor. The doctor said that this symptom was just a normal pregnancy reaction. She was just a little worried that she was eating so little.
She could feel that the baby in her stomach was getting heavier. If she continued eating so little, it would have an impact on the baby.
While Sophia was still doubting her body, Sebastian was already looking for a professional nurse to stay on the twenty-third floor for some time. However, he did not care too much about her verbally.
Sophia didn’t know why, but she felt that Sebastian’s care for her since she returned was courteous, distant, and different from before.
In the past, Sebastian took care of her meticulously, and sometimes he even remembered everything she did. But this time, Sebastian was much more polite to her. Most of the time, he would order some other people to take care of her.
Sophia had seen the changes in him these days. It made her feel very uneasy. She wanted to know what Sebastian was thinking because she could make further judgments and decisions only by knowing him. Only by understanding him could she know whether he liked her.
These days, they didn’t get along well. Sebastian avoided her, which made her very depressed.
“Bro, what’s wrong with you? Did something happen in the company?” Sophia finally couldn’t help but ask.
“No, nothing!” Sebastian quickly shook his head.
“Why do I somehow feel that you have something on your mind? Or maybe you are avoiding me?” Sophia continued.
“I don’t have anything on my mind, and I’m not avoiding you. Don’t overthink it,” Sebastian said.
“If you have something on your mind, I’ll help you,” Sophia said.
“I don’t. I don’t have anything on my mind. It’s just that there have been too many things happening in the company recently. I needed to handle some official business,” Sebastian said.
“Oh, I see.” Hearing Sebastian’s explanation, Sophia nodded.
However, she vaguely felt that Sebastian seemed unwilling to open up to her. He was avoiding her, which made Sophia very uncomfortable..
