The Ice-Cold Executive Gets A Wife Novel - Chapter 160
Chapter 160: A Crush
Phillips had not seen Sophia for more than a month.
When he heard that Sophia had been offered an internship at NRTE, he did not know why, but he was genuinely happy for her. He had an inexplicable sense of pride.
He knew that Sophia could do it. She was the one person who would not be defeated in any situation.
Perhaps no one would believe it if he said that he had ‘heard’ things about Sophia. After all, Phillips and Sophia were in different batches, and the boys in the math faculty were generally not as gossipy as the other faculties’.
However, one thing was certain. Phillips’ feelings for Sophia were genuine. He loved Sophia from the bottom of his heart.
It was just that sometimes he didn’t seem to understand the feeling. Sophia was more complicated than his math problems, which made Phillips feel a little frustrated.
Maybe it was because there was a charm about Sophia? It somehow made him want to be close to Sophia. He knew he should give up on her, but he couldn’t.
Phillips’ life was as peaceful and fulfilling as ever. He would briefly think of the stubborn and beautiful girl when he couldn’t solve the problems.
Every morning he would go to the restaurant on time for breakfast. He did not like to be late, so he would get up at eight o’clock, wash up, change his clothes, and then go out.
Recently, he found that he was slowing down. He was unsure if it was because of his weakening mathematical ability or because of an average man’s longing for women. He would occasionally stare at Sophia’s cell phone number in a daze, and he did not know why he had to send her a text message.
Ask her how she was doing? Maybe ask about the internship? Did she learn anything new? How was the job?
Or how was the baby? What was her plan for the future?
Phillips felt that these were too boring, and he couldn’t ask them too directly either. If Sophia misunderstood, that would be bad.
Misunderstood? Misunderstood what? Misunderstood that he liked her? But, did he not like this girl whom he had not seen much of?
If the child in her belly were his, that would have been great. Although he had planned everything for his life a long time ago, and he felt that his first child should be born when he was thirty-five years old, if it was with Sophia, he didn’t care when this child would arrive.
He knew that for Sophia, the best choice was not to have this child now. After all, the child’s father didn’t intend to take the responsibility. But Sophia wouldn’t give up the child. He felt it irrational, but he still admired her courage and even wanted to share some of the burdens with her.
“Hey, hello, classmate,” this was the first sentence Sophia said to him.
One afternoon a year and a half ago, Sophia came to the mathematics faculty and saw Phillips. She saw him reading something seriously and attentively. She walked up to him and gently knocked on the table.
“Excuse me… who are you looking for?” Phillips looked up and asked in confusion.
The sun shone before him, making him a little dizzy. He could only see an outline, a lovely figure with a soft glow around her.
“I’m looking for Phillips. My name is Sophia,” Sophia replied.
Hearing Sophia’s voice, Phillips was stunned. Then, he looked up from the book and stared at Sophia’s side profile, his heart throbbing hard.
“I’m Phillips.” Phillips was a little embarrassed and shy. There were few girls in the math faculty, and girls like Sophia were the belles on campus.
“Hello, my lecturer gave me a paper on financial analysis. There is a mathematical model on it, and I have some questions. He said that you are the author of the model, so he asked me to see you,” Sophia said politely.
“Oh, I see.” Phillips nodded. “Wait a moment. I will go and get my notebook.”
After Phillips returned, he sat down and began to teach Sophia.
When Phillips lectured, Sophia listened attentively. This surprised Phillips a little. He had never seen a girl who was patient enough to listen to him explain mathematical equations that were boring to most girls. And she always asked questions at the right time, which meant that she was trying to digest the information, making him admire Sophia a little.
But later, he mostly only saw Sophia’s name on the list of some competitions. Occasionally, when he met her on campus, Sophia would be looking ahead and joking with her friends as if she didn’t remember him.
It was no wonder as the boys in the math faculty always dressed the same. It was no wonder that she didn’t recognize him.
A few months ago, his good friend in the laboratory had a sudden idea and invited him to a party. It was not his type of scene, but he decided to go when he heard that Sophia would attend the party..
