The Ice-Cold Executive Gets A Wife Novel - Chapter 138
Chapter 138: The Intern’s Dissatisfaction
‘Are you free tonight?’
Alan’s profile picture was as honest and handsome as he was.
‘Yes. What do you want?’
Daisy knew that Alan had liked her since the first day he joined the company. He had also been trying to be nice to her, but that was only limited to the company.
‘I’d like to invite Miss Daisy to dinner. Is that okay?’
Alan sent her a location. He had done a lot of research on the internet before choosing the place. The environment was pleasant, and he would not make it too formal and put too much pressure on the girl. Seeing that Daisy did not reply, he hesitated on the other end of the phone for a long time before sending a new message.
‘If you find it inconvenient, I won’t bother you.’
‘There’s nothing inconvenient about it. I’ve never been to that place, and I’ve always wanted to go there. Let’s meet at the restaurant at six o’clock in the evening.’
Alan made a reservation at the restaurant called Carlisle’s. He sat by the window and waited for the dishes to be served. It was a great surprise to Alan. He hoped that everything would be perfect tonight.
When Daisy arrived at the restaurant, she found that Alan was already there. He had finished his glass of lemonade. Seeing her come in, he smiled and waved at her.
“I’m sorry to have kept you waiting,” Daisy said politely.
“It’s okay. Have a seat.” Alan stood up and helped her into her seat. He was very gentlemanly.
“Thank you.” After Daisy sat down, she smiled at Alan.
After the waiter had served the food that Alan had ordered, he turned around and left.
“Why didn’t you come in today?” Alan asked. He had gone to the administrative department earlier and wanted to ask Daisy out personally to show his sincerity. But he was told that Daisy was on leave today.
“Oh. It’s nothing. I felt a little unwell earlier,” Daisy said perfunctorily.
“Why do you feel unwell? Have you been too tired recently?” Alan asked worriedly.
“No, I’m fine.” Daisy shook her head. She did not want to tell Alan the real reason. “By the way, how is your internship in the investment department?” Daisy changed the topic.
Firstly, she wanted to find out about the recent developments there. After all, even though Sophia worked on the twenty-third floor, she was still in the investment department after all.
Secondly, if the pleasantries continued, this meal would be too dull and worthless.
“It is going well. Everyone has been working hard recently, and everything is going well,” Alan replied. His gaze swept over Daisy’s face from time to time as if he wanted to take in her expression.
“But…” Alan suddenly stopped, deliberately keeping her in suspense.
“But what?” Daisy asked.
“But someone is very dissatisfied with this internship.” Alan looked at Daisy as if he wanted to glean something from her face.
Dissatisfied? What was Alan referring to? Daisy was intrigued by Alan’s choice of words. She signaled him to continue with her eyes.
“Someone is saying that this internship is unfair. I’m telling you, don’t tell anyone.” She didn’t know when Alan had learned to beat around the bush like this.
“Definitely not. Don’t you trust me?” Daisy said.
“It’s not that I don’t trust you, but gossip isn’t good.” Alan sounded slightly worried.
“Are you afraid that I will spread it? Don’t worry. I’m not that stupid,” Daisy said quickly.
“Well, then I’m relieved.”
Daisy learned that Jessica was very dissatisfied with Sophia’s special treatment from what Alan said. From the first time they were given an access card, Daisy could see that Jessica did not have a particularly good impression of Sophia.
They were both interns, but why did the interns on the seventeenth floor have to work so hard while Sophia could freely enter and leave the twenty-third floor as the CEO’s assistant?
This was not fair at all. In fact, not only Jessica but also Decca and Alan felt a little uncomfortable because their internship at NRTE was not like what they had imagined, where they could get access to significant cases. Most of them only dealt with some data-entry tasks that investment analysts did not have time to do.
They were somewhat dissatisfied when they thought of Sophia getting different tasks on the twenty-third floor. But boys were always more magnanimous than girls, and they often chose to keep their thoughts to themselves.
They could not stand this kind of differential treatment as time went by. However, they knew that they were only interns in NRTE. Their abilities were limited, so they could only put up with it silently.
However, now that they saw Sophia working on the twenty-third floor, they could not help but feel jealous. Everyone felt very depressed about this. Sophia had been performing well these days, and the resentment and jealousy in their hearts grew stronger.
Among the four interns, Sophia was ranked at the bottom in terms of background and education, but she could do so well at NRTE.
“Oh, I’m sorry. I forgot that you guys are friends. I shouldn’t have said this. ” Alan suddenly realized that he was whining too much and scratched his head apologetically.
“It’s okay. 11m not close to Sophia,” Daisy said with a smile..
