The Ice-Cold Executive Gets A Wife Novel - Chapter 123
Chapter 123: She Didn’t Like Norman
“I found it. Let’s go,” Sophia said with a smile. She turned around and looked at the room again.
There were a variety of medicines and supplies for babies and pregnant women in the room. Sophia knew that Anita’s sister-in-law was only three or four months pregnant like her. However, she had already bought the baby’s clothes and toys.
There was a huge pregnancy photo hanging in the room, and the two adults in it were laughing happily. The man was looking up at the woman and carefully touching her belly.
This was a perfect family. Unlike her baby, the mother and father had a baby who didn’t have a father. This was what she wanted most, but no one could give it to her.
She had always wanted her baby to have such a family, loving and harmonious parents, just like her parents. But it was Norman who had gotten her pregnant.
Why him? If it had been anyone else, the outcome would not have been so bad. Why did it have to be him?
She had never mentioned this idea to anyone because in her heart, if she had chosen to keep the baby, it was her responsibility, and it had nothing to do with Norman. She had to be determined to take charge of her small family and prove to everyone who cared about her that the baby could grow up healthy and happy even without a father.
However, when she saw that other family’s kids were getting a lot of fatherly love, she would still feel a little envious and sad.
“What are you thinking about?” Anita saw Sophia leaning against the wall, so she walked to her side and asked.
“No, nothing,” Sophia denied flatly.
“You can’t lie to me. Your eyes tell me that you’re not in a good mood. What are you thinking about? If you tell me, maybe I can share the burden with you. Otherwise, I’ll feel guilty if your pent-up emotions affect your health,” Anita said, a little worried.
“It’s really nothing.” She glanced at Sebastian and felt a little awkward.
The latter quickly understood what she meant. It was not convenient for her to say it, so he tactfully left the room. But he did not go far. Not only was he curious, but he wanted to understand more about Sophia’s concerns and what he could give to her.
Anita noticed that, too. So, after Sebastian left, she pulled Sophia to a chair for her to sit on, looking like she wanted to listen.
Sophia hesitated for a moment and finally spoke.
“Norman came to me and said that he regretted everything and should have kept the baby. Today, when I saw Joseph had prepared so many baby supplies for Trisha, I remembered that my baby doesn’t have a reliable father. I don’t feel anything for myself, but I pity my baby.
“Although everyone supports me, and I’m very grateful, I’m the one who’s carrying the baby after all. I have always thought that I would be able to carry it on my own. Yesterday, I was not sure if it was because I was working overtime or staying up late, but my body gave me a warning. The doctor asked me to go for a check-up every three days.
“I have always hoped that I would be able to go further on the path of an analyst, but now, I’m not sure. I’m not sure if my body will be able to go that far. I don’t want to risk my baby. Sometimes it’s not easy for the baby and me to not have a father to support us.” Sophia smiled bitterly as she revealed all her thoughts to Anita in one go.
“Oh! My poor Sophia! I didn’t know it was so difficult to be pregnant. I’m sorry, I was even cracking jokes with you today,” Anita said regretfully. “You’re working on the twenty-third floor now, right? How about I ask Sebastian to reduce your workload?”
“Thank you, honey, but I still want to learn more from Sebastian. I think I’m just emotional because of the pregnancy. It’ll be over in a while. You don’t have to worry too much about me,” Sophia shook her head and refused. Although Anita was a very kind woman and her understanding moved her, what she needed now was more training and experience.
Anita nodded. “That’s fine. In that case, you have to take care of your health. But it would be best if you didn’t tire yourself out. If anything happens to you and the baby, I’ll make sure you get it.’
“Okay.” Sophia smiled. “Thank you.’
“So, are you sure it’s impossible between you and Norman? After all, he came to you to apologize, didn’t he?”
“It’s impossible. I have no interest in him at all,” Sophia said firmly. “No matter what, he is not worthy of me, so I will not be with him.”
It turned out that he had misunderstood Sophia and Norman. Sebastian, who was leaning against the wall, thought to himself. She had never liked Norman. Now that the truth was out, his mood suddenly lifted.
It was now that Sebastian realized that he liked Sophia. He didn’t want to admit it because he thought she liked Norman. To some extent, he was afraid that he would be disappointed in having his efforts wasted..
