The Ice-Cold Executive Gets A Wife Novel - Chapter 108
Chapter 108: Shouldn’t Have Come Back
“Why are you back at this time?” Sophia’s brother, David, was in his pajamas. He went downstairs to open the door for Sophia.
“Didn’t you tell me to pick you up tomorrow?”
Sophia knew that if she asked David to come down, he would interrogate her. However, she didn’t plan to go home, so she didn’t have the key.
After a day of ups and downs, she didn’t want to stay at her rented place alone. She wanted to go home.
“Brother, I’m tired. Let’s talk about it tomorrow.”
Sophia told David that she only wanted to go home, wash up, rest, and forget about everything else.
“If you’re tired, go and rest.” David looked at his sister’s condition. He felt that she was not in great shape and needed to rest.
“Okay. David, I’ll go to my room first.”
Seeing Sophia walk into her room and close the door, David turned around and walked up the stairs. After David left, Sophia immediately went into the bathroom. She was very sleepy now. She wanted to take a good hot bath.
Soaking in hot water, she gradually felt better. She was not alone now. At least she had a home.
After a long day, she finally felt safe.
Sophia took a shower and lay on the bed in a loose nightgown, closing her eyes.
She did not know why, but she felt a little cold. She hugged herself tightly and curled up into a ball, hoping to be warmer, but the cold was from the depths of her heart. It was a feeling of ice and fire; she felt very sad. There was an inexplicable grievance in her heart. She felt very lonely now.
Norman’s appearance made her understand that she was pregnant with his child. It was impossible for her and Sebastian. She thought of Sebastian and Daisy again. There were too many people between them.
She was slowly realizing that she needed to stay away from Sebastian.
However, they worked together on the twenty-third floor, after all. She had to think about it again.
As she thought about it, Sophia fell into a deep sleep…
The following day, Sophia woke up and saw that it was already eleven o’clock in the morning. No one in the house had woken her up. They all wanted to allow her to sleep a little longer. She hurriedly got out of bed to wash up.
After washing up, she changed into a white dress, and her long curly hair draped over her shoulders.
She looked at herself in the mirror, and a smile appeared on the corner of her mouth. She looked much better now than she did yesterday. At least, she had started to accept the things between Sebastian and Daisy.
“I didn’t agree at first. NRTE is one of the top companies, but look at how tired Sophia is!” her father Carl lowered his voice, afraid to wake Sophia.
“I only wanted to make Sophia happy. You saw how happy she was when she got the offer. Who would have thought that she would be exhausted?” Laura sobbed in self-blame.
“As I said, we can’t let her go back to this job. It’s not like we can’t afford to support her!” Carl sounded like he was going to help Sophia make a decision.
“Yes, yes, yes. My salary is pretty good now, and I can afford to support her, too.” David also supported Sophia in not going to work.
“But, we still don’t know what Sophia is thinking… sob…” Laura began to whimper. Although she felt sorry for Sophia, she still respected Sophia’s opinion.
“Does it matter what Sophia thinks? She is not sensible. Are you going to mess around with her?
We are adults. We have to make decisions for her when the time is right.” Carl was still insistent.
“Yeah, Mom, you didn’t see her. When Sophia came back yesterday, she looked haggard, as if she had been bullied by someone. My heart aches when I see her!” David sounded concerned for his sister.
“She is my daughter. I can raise her well on my own. If she wasn’t pregnant, fine. But it’s not like you don’t know how difficult it is to be pregnant. And to still work overtime until 11 or 12 0’clock for that sh*tty NRTE. We only know about yesterday, but we don’t know how long this has been going on! How can such a company be chill?” Sophia’s father rarely swore. At this point, it seemed that he didn’t want Sophia to go to work at all.
“Besides, she’s pregnant with our grandchild. I disagree with her going to work! I think my grandchild doesn’t agree either!”
“But… Sigh! What you said makes sense.” Laura sighed and said, “Then, let her sleep a little longer. I’ll persuade her when she wakes up.”
“Mom, what’s there to persuade? Don’t you know Sophia’s temper? You know her character too,” David said.
“Sigh! Her temper isn’t like your father’s.”
“Well, I think I’d better forbid her to go to work directly.” Carl was already anxious to go against the grain.
“Dad, Mom, David, I’m up.” Sophia came out of the room and quickly interrupted their conversation.
The three people looked at each other. They didn’t know how much Sophia had heard.
‘I’m so stupid! I really shouldn’t have rushed back last night.’ Sophia thought..
