The Death List Novel - Chapter 8
Chapter 8 The Last Victim
“Great Devil King Qin Lun, Wuwu, Sister Hufei is dead” Xiaolian hugged Qin Lun’s neck and sobbed in grievance.
Qin Lun’s gaze darkened as he patted the little beauty’s back and whispered, “I’m sorry! Joey will appear whenever I encounter danger …”
“Let’s go, we’re off the team!” Seeing that Qin Lun had returned to normal, Lin Feng heaved a sigh of relief. The pressure around Joey was too great, and the string in his heart was about to break.
In the next few floors of the corridor, this mixed squad encountered a few more waves of zombies. However, compared to the squad of more than ten people, a small number of zombies did not cause any danger of blocking the passageway. However, two more federal soldiers who had been used as shields had died, and the prisoners were all injured.
After following the group, the few of them learned a lot about the mixed group from their intermittent conversations with Lily the Human Demon. The prisoners who had escaped from the cell area were forced into the control hall of the base by scattered zombies after obtaining some knives and weapons in the cafeteria and other places. They encountered the surviving base researchers and federal soldiers.
Originally, there were more than 50 people in this troop, more than 20 federal soldiers, and more than a dozen base researchers, four times as many as those on death row. Apart from a handful of people hiding in the corner of the base, they already included the vast majority of survivors.
In the beginning, the federals were the largest group. However, they had to take care of the weak base researchers while being afraid of being infected by the zombie virus. When they fought, they shrunk and were gradually eaten up by the zombies. After a small number of people, they finally became the shield of the prisoners.
On the other hand, the prisoners of death were fighting for their lives, fighting the zombies without fear of death. They didn’t have any misgivings in their melee battles, and they did everything they could to survive. From the bloody battle in the control hall of the base to the safe passage, although everyone was injured, only a few people died. In turn, they controlled the gradually decreasing number of people on the Federation side.
With the passage of time, this small group of survivors that only had twelve to thirteen people left finally entered the exit corridor of the base through the safety stairs. The corridor was about seven meters wide and thirty meters long. The ground was filled with automatic transmission rails, but now the transmission rails were no longer able to move.
The iron gate at the entrance of the tunnel was over ten centimeters thick and extremely heavy. Although there were pulleys underneath, pushing it away was not an easy task.
After the team came out of the safety stairs, a zombie had already noticed it in the hall on the ground floor of the base at the other end of the corridor. He started to drag his stumbling steps and slowly leaned over. The hall on the ground floor was very large, and there were almost a hundred zombies. It was simply not something that prisoners with injuries could kill and retreat from.
Only by pushing open the iron gate of the base would they have a chance of survival.
After entering the exit passageway, Qin Lun couldn’t hold on any longer and sat down at the corner of the passageway. He had lost too much blood, his face was snow white, and cold sweat kept coming out from the corners of his forehead.
“Great Devil King, how are you?” Xiaolian squatted in front of Qin Lun and asked worriedly.
“Don’t be too far away from me!” Qin Lun said softly as he glanced at the strangely scattered death row in the distance.
After saying that, he closed his eyes and recovered his spirit, ignoring Little Lotus.
At this moment, the prisoners standing behind the last three federal soldiers gave each other a look and each revealed a ferocious smile. He quietly raised the sharp knife in his hand and fiercely stabbed it into the waist of the three federates.
“Ah!” Three short screams rang out at the same time. The federates collapsed to the ground with hatred on their faces. The prisoners dragged one of their feet and threw it to the other end of the corridor, blocking the path of the corpses.
During this period of fighting with the zombies, the prisoners had discovered that the zombies were neither infected with the virus nor had the slightest bit of intelligence. They had only left behind the instinct to eat. As long as there is “food” nearest to them, they will even turn a blind eye to others in the distance.
The best way to stop them was not to fight, but to place a corpse in front of them, so that everyone else would be safe until the food was eaten.
“Three corpses don’t seem to be enough for a hundred zombies!” One of the bald men on death row revealed a gloomy smile. “It would be best if there were a few trash who could make a little contribution to everyone,” he smiled sinisterly.
The bald man’s name was Chekov. He was the leader of the Russian Mafia and also a serial murderer. His nickname was Chameleon.
Chekov was about two meters tall, with a tiger’s back and a bear’s waist. He weighed at least 240 pounds and stood there like a city wall. Although his muscles weren’t as muscular as his disciple Hansen’s, they were also clearly outlined, and he wasn’t an obese man. Compared to Lily, the thinnest human demon among the prisoners, it was simply the difference between a child and an adult.
Seeing that no one else responded, Chekov narrowed his eyes and tore apart his tattered prison uniform, revealing the blue and purple tattoos that covered his upper body. This was also the source of his nickname “Chameleon”.
The Russian prisoner’s face was full of flesh and blood. He looked fiercely at the others, and his gaze first fell on the smallest human demon, Lily. Looking at Chekov’s ferocious gaze, Lily shivered and looked at her disciple, Hansen, for help.
The disciple’s lips curled into a grin as he quietly took a step forward, blocking Lily’s path, and swept his cold gaze towards Chameleon Chekov. The gazes of the two devils intertwined into a fierce spark in the air.
“Humph!” The flesh on Chekov’s face twitched slightly as he coldly snorted and moved his gaze away.
Although there were many murderers on death row, there was still a difference between murderers and murderers. This difference was mainly reflected in the federal assessment of the dangers of the murderers, which was also a measure of how dangerous the murderers were.
In terms of the number of killings, no one would dare to admit that Hansen was the second on the death row. After all, he was a mercenary. When he was still a boy scout, his hands were already stained with blood. This was also why Federal District 91 had imprisoned him at the highest level of the cell block.
As for the third floor of the cell, the other murderer of the same level was Qin Lun, Joey Foster the Decomposer. Qin Lun’s situation was different from Hansen’s. Although his killing numbers weren’t many among all the murderers, the Federation’s assessment of danger wasn’t inferior to his disciples’.
The reason for that was because many of the targets of the other serial killers were ordinary people. Ever since Qin Lun entered the Handan Heavy Penalty Prison, he had killed most of the prisoners on death row, and even some of the other famous serial killers.
[Decomposer] Joey Foster’s name was a taboo among death row inmates. It could be said that he was a murderer among murderers. This was also why Lily, the human demon, was so scared that she almost peed her pants after recognizing Qin Lun’s identity. Even her disciple, Hansen, was unwilling to walk with Qin Lun.
Realizing that he couldn’t do anything to Lily, Chekov’s fierce gaze swept around again and finally focused his attention on Qin Lun and the others.
The Russian prisoner stared at Qin Lun’s line of sight, revealing a trace of fear. However, when he saw the cowering figure next to the murderer, he finally opened his mouth and smiled cruelly as he strode forward.
Qin Lun, who was resting with his eyes closed, didn’t dare to provoke him. Lin Feng also changed into his prison uniform, and he didn’t seem to have suffered any serious injuries. However, that little beauty in a nurse’s uniform seemed to be the best target at the moment.
Although the nurse was hiding by Qin Lun’s side, Chekov was confident that the “Decomposer”, who was severely injured and on the verge of death, would not care about the life and death of a nurse in the base.
The big Russian opened a praying fan and grabbed Little Lotus by the neck, carrying her in the air like a chick.
“Ah!” Little Lotus stamped her feet in fear, but a pair of pink fists landed on Chekov’s body, like dragonflies shaking trees. It had no effect on the Russian big man at all.
“Haha!” Chekov licked his lips excitedly. His gaze revealed a trace of malevolence as he exerted some strength on his hand.
Xiaolian’s pretty face was swollen with purple. His mouth was wide open like a dead fish, and his eyes slowly turned white. He was about to be crushed to death by Chekov.
However, at this moment, Chekov suddenly saw the faces of the prisoners in the distance change slightly. They all revealed strange smiles and looked at him mockingly, as if they were watching a good show.
The Russian burly man’s heart went cold. He immediately realized that something was wrong and suddenly turned around to look back. The corner of his eyes immediately noticed that at some unknown time, a ghost-like figure was quietly standing behind him. The two bright blood colors in the pupils of the human figure were like ghost flames that suddenly flashed in hell, quietly staring at him.
“You” Chekov was shocked, his face twisted into a ball of flesh.
Seeing Chekov discover him, Qin Lun immediately revealed a sinister smile and waved his right hand behind him.
“Pu!” A black bolt of lightning streaked across the corridor. A black dagger shaped like a pair of sharp scissors entered the Russian burly man’s left temple and exited his right temple, piercing his bald head from left to right.
Chekov’s twisted expression froze on his face as he stared at Qin Lun’s pair of bull eyes, which slowly lost their luster. With a “bang”, his enormous body fell straight to the ground, stirring up a cloud of dust.
“Cough cough!” Xiaolian, who had escaped from Chekov’s hands, lay on the ground and coughed repeatedly.
Lin Feng peeked at Chekov’s corpse with a pale face and tactfully helped the nurse to a corner. He had an indescribable strange feeling about Qin Lun’s violent killing move just now.
The red light in Qin Lun’s eyes quietly retreated. He expressionlessly wiped two daggers on Chekov’s body and sat back in the corner of the wall. He closed his eyes, but his heart stirred up a storm.
The moment he killed Chekov, a refreshing aura flowed into his palm through the black dagger. The egg-shaped pattern on his right palm that had been transformed from the “list of the dead” actually jumped slightly.
When Qin Lun was at the base, he had “seen” a simple tablet computer that stored death row information-his own “death list”-fused with an orange-colored Dolin crystal. At that time, he was only a little curious, and in the process of coming into contact with him, the “death list” merged into his palm.
Now, under the stimulation of this refreshing aura, the “Death List” seemed to have awakened. It emitted a regular pulse, as if another tiny heart had appeared in Qin Lun’s palm.
