The Death List Novel - Chapter 647
Chapter 647 Assassination
“Lago, run again. After nightfall, bring the others over.” A cold light flashed in Qin Lun’s eyes. “We won’t take a detour from the foot of the mountain anymore. After killing these three troll sentries, we’ll directly go over the mountain.”
“Ferrar, this won’t work. The troll’s observation post on both sides of the town isn’t necessarily the only one. There are a lot of low mountains in this area.” Said Mustacha with a frown.
“I know, so we need to find out how many troll sentries there are in the vicinity before nightfall.” Qin Lun said with a faint smile.
“Are you planning to kill all the way there?” Said Mustacha, surprised. “If there’s a problem with one of the sentries, we’re all finished. Why don’t we go a little further?”
“There’s no way around it. This Giant Demon Town is so big. In order to feed so many people, their hunting range can be imagined.” Qin Lun pointed at the foot of the mountain. “The forest is filled with trolls’ hunting squads. Once a hunting squad finds out, we will be running into their encirclement.”
On the other hand, since there were Giant Demon Sentinels in the low mountains near the town, the large wild beasts here should have been cleaned up, much less their hunting grounds. “As long as we kill the sentry on the mountain top, we won’t be discovered by the other trolls. This is already the least risky method.”
“How boring!” Mustacha murmured, but she no longer insisted on her opinion.
As an outstanding adventurer, the Highland Elves knew what Qin Lun said. However, at the end of the day, everyone had a sliver of luck. On the contrary, people as calm and cruel as Qin Lun were rare.
“I’m going to explore a few other mountains nearby!” Mastasia said softly.
“No, let Elistine and my hunting companions go. They won’t be exposed easily.” Qin Lun grabbed Mastasia and lifted his chin towards Elistine.
Elistine nodded and rolled on the ground, transforming into a petite black lynx. The purple-gemstone-like cat’s eyes blinked humanely before turning around and rushing into the bushes. Afterwards, the Shadow Gale Leopard, summoned by Qin Lun, also ran down the mountain from another direction.
“Can Lago bring them over?” Mastasia was slightly worried.
“It doesn’t matter. Hill has a telepathic ability. I will pass on the mirror image to him. He should be able to avoid the troll watchtower on the mountain top.” The Yin Yang Fish pattern in Qin Lun’s eyes flickered slightly, and the black and white sketch images were fed back to the guild channel for Hill and Rand’s reference.
As the sun set, night slowly enveloped the mountain peak. During this period, the troll watchtowers at the top of the mountain underwent a change of guard, but they did not find the two Elves lurking under their noses.
By the time the sky was completely dark, Elistine and the Shadow Gale Leopard had returned. They were lucky enough to discover another troll post nearby.
The sentry post was much more concealed than the watchtower at the summit of the mountain. It was in a concealed cave at the side of the mountain, with huge rocks covering it from top to bottom. If it weren’t for the change of posts in the middle, Elistine probably wouldn’t have noticed.
“Hill, are you ready?” Lago did not bring the rest of the team to meet up. The Blood Stabbing Trio, Hill, and the others went straight to the sentry post. They were going to attack together, eliminate the two troll sentry posts at the same time, and then take advantage of the darkness to bypass the troll town.
“There’s no problem with us. Do you really not need help? Why don’t you let Largo run around again?” Hill asked cautiously.
There were three trolls in each of the two troll sentry posts, and Hill had a total of six battle prowess, including a Dragon Vein Mage. There were only three people on Qin Lun’s side, so his strength was a little weak.
“It doesn’t matter. The terrain of your sentry post is too dangerous. A little more people can prevent accidents.” Qin Lun shook his head and refused, giving the two Elves beauties by his side a look.
“Remember what I told you, don’t let the troll take action to light the wolf smoke. Otherwise, it will be over.” Mastasia instructed her two companions solemnly.
Qin Lun and Elistine nodded, and the three of them gently stroked towards the summit. Very quickly, three pairs of cold eyes appeared at the edge of the flat platform on the top of the mountain.
Perhaps it was because the three trolls had lived a peaceful life for too long, so they didn’t have the slightest bit of vigilance. Two of them were sitting beside the campfire, drowsing their heads. Their snoring could be heard clearly by Qin Lun and the others, who were more than ten meters away from the campfire.
The last troll did its duty and leaned against a half-man tall rock to look down the mountain. However, it seemed to be looking in the direction of the Giant Demon Town, not paying attention to the sparse woodlands below the mountain.
The Giant Demon Town occupied an enormous area. The meandering river crossed through the middle of the town. The watchtowers on the left and right sides of the town were not set up to defend against foreign enemies, but to guard against magical beasts in the mountain range.
The trolls were the actual rulers of the trolls’ claws. Normally, the magical beasts in the mountains would not take the initiative to attack the towns, but sometimes they would attack the beast bars on the outskirts of the towns. If there were severe natural disasters, the troll claw’s herd would not be able to survive the cold winter before a wave of beasts attacking troll towns would erupt.
Individual magical beasts sneak into the bars to steal food, so it’s not worth the watchtower on the top of the mountain to send out a warning signal. Most of the time, these sentry posts were for decoration. No wonder the trolls on duty were so bored that they fell asleep.
Qin Lun pouted angrily at the two Elves beauties, signaling for the two trolls to return to them, while he quietly circled around half a circle and touched the still awake trolls.
A cold light flashed in Qin Lun’s eyes as he looked at the gigantic devil who was smiling foolishly, as if he was immersed in some kind of imagination.
According to a legend in Ferren Continent, trolls had a bloodline relationship with mountain giants. Qin Lun wasn’t sure if this legend was true, but judging from the Giant Demon’s powerful body defense, it wasn’t impossible.
Trolls possessed excellent affinity for earth elements. Some gifted trolls would awaken the “power of the earth” when they reached adulthood. They had an innate ability-throwing giant stones.
Giants’ skin had good resistance to physical and magical attacks. Even with legendary weapons like Wind Chasing Frost, it would be very difficult to cut off their limbs at once, unless they were pure swordsmen or machetemen with extremely high swordsmanship.
Even though Qin Lun had mastered one-handed cold weapon expertise, he was obviously unable to do so. Therefore, he had to find a weakness that could severely injure trolls.
The neck, heart, and other vital physical attacks might not work on trolls. The true vital points of trolls were few and far between. The eyes, ears, mouth, and anus could only be considered fatal if they could directly injure the trolls’ organs.
Of course, it wasn’t easy to accurately attack these parts. Trolls weren’t wooden people. Instead, they had rather cunning minds.
Qin Lun crawled towards the troll from the side. He had already sprayed a kind of potion that Mastasia had given him. It smelled like grass to prevent the sensitive trolls from discovering it.
“Almost there!” Qin Lun felt very lucky. Even when he was within five meters of the troll, it still didn’t notice. Obviously, the perception of ordinary trolls was as weak as Mastasia had said. This was one of the few weaknesses of this creature.
Qin Lun did not make a sound. He used all his strength to jump up from the ground and flipped 180 degrees. He faced the night sky on his back and spread his arms in mid-air. His back swept over the Giant Demon’s head.
Just as his back flashed past the troll’s head, Qin Lun twisted his waist and drew a beautiful arc with his open arms. The evil dagger in his right hand flashed with a black light and fiercely stabbed into the troll’s ear.
Qin Lun felt as if the Evil Dagger had pierced into an extremely tough piece of leather, and it was only less than two inches deep that it was powerless.
“Puchi!” A hot and fishy liquid splashed all over his head and face, but Qin Lun’s heart still trembled. The corner of his eyes shone as he saw the pierced troll turn its head, its fierce eyes still carrying a trace of confusion.
Isn’t this kind of trauma fatal enough? Qin Lun was shocked. Although the dagger had only pierced two inches, it had already hurt the Giant Demon’s brain. It was actually able to react.
In the next moment, the giant devil that had suffered a severe brain injury finally felt an unparalleled pain. Its eyes were a little slack, and its ugly face began to distort. Countless bloodlines burst out from its ferocious eyes.
Even though the mind was in chaos, its powerful vitality prompted it to react instinctively.
The troll opened its mouth wide, and the heavy sound wave struck deeply into Qin Lun’s mind like a drumstick. The volume of this roar wasn’t loud, but the shockwaves contained within it were extremely powerful. This was the Giant Demon’s battle roar talent.
“Not good!” Qin Lun felt dizzy. His left hand reflexively slapped the hilt of the Evil Dagger like a hammer, knocking the blade of the dagger into the Giant Demon’s mind. At the same time, his right hand stirred the dagger in his hand and spun it around with difficulty, causing the Giant Demon’s brain to turn into a paste.
Following this force, his waist and abdomen twisted and his legs wrapped around the troll’s thick neck like the roots of an old tree. He tightly clamped onto its throat, causing the battle roar to stop abruptly and only let out half a sound.
“Bang!” The troll’s legs softened and it fell to the ground. Its tenacious vitality still prevented the giant beast from dying immediately. However, without the command of its brain, its limbs instinctively swung around, smashing rocks into the ground, but it was no longer able to harm the enemy on its back.
Qin Lun exhaled a mouthful of turbid air and finally had time to look up and see the battle on the other side. After personally battling the troll, he subconsciously realized that things might not be as easy as he imagined.
At this glance, he discovered that the two Elves beauties had indeed made a mistake in their sneak attack on the two sleeping trolls. Interestingly, the one who made the mistake was not Elistine, but Mastasia, who had more combat experience.
