The Death List Novel - Chapter 6
Chapter 6 Biochemical Crisis
“Quick, quickly block the door with the medical cabinet … Eh, you’re a prisoner. Strange, I think I’ve seen you before!” The nurse cried out nervously. When her gaze fell on Qin Lun, it was as if she had discovered a new continent. She widened her eyes and probably forgot about the murderer who had just been examined a few days ago.
“Little Lotus, come back. He’s Joey Foster!” Hu Fei’s face was tense as she pulled the nurse back to protect her. Compared to Little Lotus, who was confused, the iceberg beauty had a much better memory.
“Ah, I remember now. You are the Great Devil King Qin Lun!” The little confused nurse finally remembered and cried out in alarm. She retracted her head behind Hu Fei and stared at Qin Lun with her big eyes flashing.
Great Devil King! Qin Lun sniffed shyly and glanced inside the infirmary. “The smell of blood here is very strong. What happened? And what are those things outside?” He said indifferently.
“See for yourselves!” Hu Fei looked at Qin Lun in surprise. After a moment of silence, she pulled Xiaolian away from her seat.
Qin Lun and Lin Feng exchanged a glance and walked into the infirmary. The infirmary’s inner hall was in a mess, and the medical instruments were scattered all over the place. The most surprising thing was that on the right side of the stretcher bed was a federal soldier without a sky lid. The red and white objects were painted all over the ground.
“He’s a dead man!” Xiao Lian grabbed Hu Fei’s waist and said weakly.
“It’s all like this. Of course, it’s a dead person!” Lin Feng turned around and rolled his eyes. He had seen many dead people in the Death Race, so he didn’t feel any discomfort.
“No, I mean, he was a dead man before we beat him to death!” Xiaolian unconvincingly waved his small fist.
“Xiaolian means … he’s a living dead man!” Hu Fei smiled bitterly and shook her head, explaining, “He was originally going to the infirmary for a routine medical examination. After the accident at the base, when Xiaolian and I woke up, we found that he no longer had any pulse or body temperature. However … ten minutes later, he was alive again and attacked us …”
“Wait, what you mean … he’s a zombie!” Lin Feng looked at the two incredulously, “Am I mistaken?”
“This is the truth. That zombie bit Sister Hu Fei before I killed it!” Xiao Lian said embarrassedly after a moment of pinching.
“I believe you!” Qin Lun, who had been silent all this while, suddenly revealed a smile. “Did you lock the door just now because there were other zombies outside the infirmary?”
“Yes! There’s still a group outside!” The two beauties exchanged glances and nodded like chickens pecking rice.
“There’s more outside?!” Lin Feng was shocked. He hurriedly ran to the door and looked out through the crack. When he saw more than ten figures staggering towards the infirmary in the corridor, his expression changed greatly. “You guys, hurry up and block the door with me!”
“Don’t block the door!” Qin Lun smiled and waved his hand. He turned around and asked the two beauties, “You two weak women can kill the zombies that the Federation soldiers turned into. These things shouldn’t be difficult to kill, right?”
“En, this … seems to be the case!” Hu Fei frowned and recalled, “I have a bit of strength, but my body is not flexible. Like an old man in his sixties or seventies, I only know how to open my mouth and bite people.”
“Bring the medical kit and find some longer iron rods or brackets. We’ll rush out. Otherwise, when these things block the door, we’ll have to wait for death!” Qin Lun shouted harshly, but the smile on his face did not diminish by half. He was still full of spring breeze.
The others were stunned. Lin Feng and Hu Fei immediately moved. Xiao Lian, however, puffed up her cheeks and glared at Qin Lun fearlessly. “It’s all your fault that you knocked on the door too loudly just now. Otherwise, we would definitely be able to hide until the rescue arrived.”
“There won’t be any rescue in the near future. I’m afraid that more than 99% of the people in this base have turned into zombies. Those who survive will only be able to protect themselves if they escape from this base!” Qin Lun shook his head and smiled. “These zombies probably relied on their instincts. The infirmary is filled with the smell of formaldehyde. That’s why they temporarily isolated the smell of blood. As time goes on, those things will still smell your scent!”
Xiaolian was slightly stunned and stopped arguing. Although she was a little confused, she did not lack discernment. Hu Fei and Lin Feng’s faces turned pale. Just now, the two of them had softly communicated about the situation in the cell area.
With the survival rate of one in ten miles in the cell area, there probably weren’t many people left in the base other than the escaped death row. The reason was very simple. Zombies had no intelligence and were slow to move. The greatest threat to the survivors was the period when they had just woken up.
The zombies in the cell block would probably not be able to open even if the iron door was broken. The surviving prisoners had just woken up and escaped the attacks of the group of corpses. On their way out of the cell block, regardless of whether they saw humans or zombies, they were all enemies of the prisoners. Unless they were trapped in a dead end by hundreds of zombies, it would be extremely easy for disciples like Hansen.
Apart from a few lucky survivors, most of the other survivors in the other parts of the base would probably die in the mouths of the zombies. Few survivors realize that their former colleagues and comrades-in-arms who staggered to their feet are no longer alive, and that the modern weapons in their hands are a piece of scrap metal.
…
“Bang!” Lin Feng lifted the iron bracket and smashed it onto the head of a zombie, knocking it to the ground. If a normal person was hit like this, it would at least be a concussion, and he wouldn’t be able to get up for at least half a day.
“Ao!” However, the zombie only shook its head, as if it was enraged. With a roar, it staggered to its feet and pounced towards Lin Feng again.
In the movies, the scene of the zombie’s head being chopped off with a knife, like smashing a watermelon, did not appear in front of everyone. Not to mention that these zombies had just died, even if their bodies were rotting like mud, their bones would still be difficult to decay. Moreover, the human skull was the hardest part of their bones.
Facing the more than ten zombies in the corridor of the infirmary, everyone with only a few iron shelves could only fight and retreat, slowly advancing towards the safe passage.
In the short preparation process just now, everyone had already discussed where to escape from the base. The entire base of Block 91 was a huge niche structure. Since the death row prisoners themselves were prepared to teleport through space and time at any time, the cell block was located on the top floor of the building, about ten floors away from the base exit below.
At present, the elevators and the transfer tracks in the base were ineffective, and they could only go down the safe passage to the base exit. However, because the zombies were unexpectedly difficult to deal with, everyone quickly fell into a predicament.
Although the zombies chasing after them couldn’t catch up with them, as the crowd fought in the safe passage, the zombies on the lower floor heard the commotion and gradually entered the safe passage. Although the scattered zombies were unable to stop the advance of the crowd for the time being, as more and more zombies surrounded them, the speed of their advance had to slow down, and they were in great danger of being pinched back and forth.
“Hu!” Lin Feng panted as he waved the iron rack and looked at the ten zombies in front of him helplessly.
When he first left the infirmary, he looked at the slow movements of these zombies and didn’t think much of it. However, when he fought until now, his arms felt weak and his entire body was powerless. An uncontrollable fear surged out of his heart once again.
Observing the difficult situation on his side, Qin Lun, who was in charge of blocking the pursuit, finally lost his smile. His face was pale, and beads of sweat slowly oozed from his forehead.
Realizing that they might not be able to get out of the safe passage and be buried in the mouth of the zombie, Qin Lun suddenly felt a burst of dizziness in his mind. He trembled, bent down, and leaned over to retch.
“Hey, what’s wrong with you? Get up! Those things are coming!” Seeing Qin Lun’s painful expression, Xiaolian hesitated and stopped. He turned around to support the young man’s arm.
“Ignore me, you guys leave now!” Qin Lun’s left hand trembled as he covered his face. His perspiration-soaked bangs pressed against his forehead, looking extremely painful. His right hand, which was supporting the passageway, stretched out its fingers and dug out five strangulation marks on the wall. A deep roar came from its throat, “Hurry up, he … he’s coming out …”
“What’s wrong with you? Don’t scare me. You are the Great Devil King Qin Lun. How can you die here like this!” Looking at the zombie who had already arrived behind Qin Lun, Xiaolian’s voice carried a hint of tears. His bright eyes flashed with sparkling tears as he struggled to pull Qin Lun’s arm, trying to help him up.
Lin Feng, who was at the forefront, finally noticed Qin Lun’s abnormal state. His expression suddenly changed. His exhausted body suddenly erupted with power, sending several zombies flying. He quickly rushed down the corridor, widening the distance between him and the other three.
“Xiaolian, let go of Qin Lun, come over here!” Looking at Lin Feng’s movements, Hu Fei seemed to recall something. Her calm and tranquil face finally changed slightly as she anxiously shouted.
“Why?” Xiaolian was slightly stunned and a little confused. However, he suddenly felt the man’s arm stop trembling. He suddenly pulled it out of his embrace and almost staggered her.
“You” The young girl pouted angrily and turned around. However, her body immediately froze and a chill appeared in her heart.
Qin Lun, who was standing in front of her, had already straightened up, and his face covered by his left hand revealed a smile again. However, the depths of his pupils, which had revealed a corner between his fingers, were already covered in a wisp of bright blood.
This man’s originally warm smile, at this moment, beneath the palm that covered his face, appeared to be so sinister and twisted, like a ghost from hell, carrying an evil aura that could not be concealed.
“Bang!” Qin Lun’s right hand gripped a black dagger that looked like a pair of sharp scissors. Without turning back, he stabbed his hand into the eye sockets of a zombie behind him. The black tip of the blade pierced out from the back of the zombie’s head. Along with the zombie’s spasmodic trembling, a string of yellowish brain fluid dripped down from the tip of the blade.
“Hey!” Qin Lun covered his left hand and stretched out like lightning. He grabbed Xiaolian’s snow-white neck and pulled her in front of him. The two of them instantly clung to each other like lovers.
Feeling the huge elasticity of the two fat meatballs in front of her chest, the murderer pressed against Little Lotus’s cheek, extended his tongue and licked the soft earlobe, gently blowing a warm and wet heat towards the beautiful woman’s earlobe.
“I’m not your Great Devil King Qin Lun. You can call me Joey, Joey Foster!”
