The Death List Novel - Chapter 477
Chapter 477 Evil Spirit
As Dr. Shahr commanded his subordinates to pull open the curtains covering more than a dozen amniotic fluid tanks, the creatures inside revealed their true colors to people outside the millennium bug organization for the first time.
To Kieran and Grant’s surprise, not all of these amniotic tanks contained nutrient amniotic fluid. Most of them smelled like formaldehyde. Three more are vacuum boxes containing specimens cut into pieces by Y2K scientists.
These creatures had died many years ago, and it was only because of vacuum preservation that most of them retained their lifelike faces.
Dr Shahr pointed at the only humanoid skeleton among these creatures and said: “Her name is Mina Huck, the basis of our initial research. She belongs to the first generation of vampires-the only woman Earl Dracula had in the Middle Ages and Dracula’s lover.”
“Legend has it that Count Dracula was subdued by the vampire hunters after the battle with Van Helsing, and Mina Huck returned to human form and died at that time.” Montana added softly, “During World War II, Romania was on the same side as the Axis Powers, and the Aryan Ark Corps found her grave and took it away as valuable research material.”
“Vampire Hunter Fan Haixin … is there really such a legend?” Grant asked curiously.
“Yes, it is said that Van Helsing also possessed a vampire bloodline in his later years. Now, the controller of the HELLSING mechanism, Indra van Bronk Van Gates Hering, is a human descendant left behind by Van Helsing before his bloodline changed.”
The Montana Major’s eyes flashed with a cold light as he said indifferently, “Our biggest and imaginary opponent, the trump card vampire of the HELLSING mechanism-Alcatel, whose name is Dracula’s reverse spelling, is suspected to be Earl Dracula himself!”
“Gerthard, Gerthard?!” Grant turned to look at Qin Lun with interest, only to be surprised to discover that the young man was not listening to them at all, nor was he paying attention to Mina Huck, whom Dr. Shahr had highlighted. Instead, he stared fixedly at the other specimen that was soaked in the amniotic fluid tank, as if he wanted to find a flower from the corpse that had been dead for decades.
The specimen looked like a strange-looking lizard with a tortoise shell on its back. Its body had many pitch-black exoskeletons on its surface, and its head resembled a human. Three blood-red crystals were embedded in its eyes and between its eyebrows.
Qin Lun knew that he had never seen such a creature before, but for no reason, he remembered a monster he had encountered before, and that was the Illusory Demon of the Illusory Demon World.
The strange lizard in front of them was like a combination of Chillusorm and the Three-eyed Illusory Demon. Although the Illusory Demon modified by the human deceased was slightly different from it, Chillusorm and the Three-eyed Illusory Demon also had a black cuticle that resembled an exoskeleton. The blood red crystal on the head of the “Lizard” was exactly the same as the Three-eyed Illusory Demon.
For example, frogs may be large or small, gray or colorful. But even if they weren’t biologists, ordinary people could tell at a glance that they belonged to the same species.
Of course, apart from the exoskeleton-like cuticle and blood-red crystal, the two monsters were still very different in appearance. What really made Qin Lun feel like they were the same species was the unconcealable smell of blood.
Illusory Demons had exactly the same taste as this monster. Even though there was a strong smell of formaldehyde mixed within, it was unable to conceal this strange smell of blood.
Qin Lun knew that he had never seen the creature in front of him, but he could faintly feel that this was one of the Illusory Demons. The only difference was that the Illusory Demons he had seen in Paris belonged to the Illusory Demons that had been modified by the dead. And this monster in front of him seemed to be an original Illusory Demon Archetype!
Apart from Mina Huck’s skeleton, most of the amniotic water tanks in front of them were these strange primitive illusions.
Apart from the turtle-shelled lizard, there was also a monster that looked like an eagle-shaped human head. This bird-like illusory demon had pure black feathers. Its beak and head were also covered in a pitch black exoskeleton, and its eyes were also replaced by purple-red crystals.
“Major, this is an evil spirit! An evil spirit from a mysterious wormhole!” Dr. Shahr smiled and walked over to Qin Lun. “Are you interested in this kind of thing?”
“Haha, I remember seeing this kind of creature when I was in the army!” Qin Lun laughed dryly twice, hiding his expression. He turned around and asked, “Doctor, what’s going on with the evil spirits and wormholes? Can you give me a detailed introduction?”
“Of course! Major Gerhardt, do you remember the Green College you fought with before?” Dr. Shahr gently pushed his glasses and said, “Actually, the original purpose of Green College was to nurture Green Hunters who specialized in dealing with evil spirits …”
Through Dr. Shahr’s introduction, Kieran and Grant learned once again about the secrets of a world. Seventy to eighty years before World War II, tiny wormholes had appeared in the depths of mountains and forests of Eurasia.
These wormholes had existed for a very short period of time, and their locations could not be fixed. They were mostly located in the mountains of Eastern and Northern Europe, and there were fewer other corners of the world.
Every time the wormhole appeared, it would produce a blood-colored crystal on the spot. These blood crystals are highly volatile and almost impossible to preserve, but they can indirectly affect plants and animals in certain areas. As long as the affected creatures, including humans, survived, they would become the evil spirits that Qin Lun saw now.
Over time, the number of wormholes would increase every year, and the number of evil spirits would also increase. The Church Cultivator School, which had originally only trained ordinary Demon Hunters, had finally turned into Green College, which specialized in dealing with evil spirits.
“Seventy or eighty years ago during World War II?” Qin Lun and Grant exchanged a glance and immediately recalled the spatial rift that had appeared in 1866.
‘”It seems like you two have guessed it! The general view in the scientific community now is that the spatial-temporal rift in the sky above the earth is not the only one. Those wormholes are also one type of spatial-temporal rift. It’s just that the energy of the wormhole is not stable enough, and the time it takes for it to appear is too short, so it just closes on its own.”
Dr. Shahr smiled and said, “Germany occupied more than half of Europe during World War II, but unfortunately, we were unable to find the Green College’s base and they escaped.”
“Doctor, why are they called evil spirits?” Qin Lun asked curiously, “Isn’t the so-called evil spirit a spirit creature?”
“Haha, there is a reason why they are called evil spirits. After death, most of these monsters will ignite spontaneously. Apart from the blood crystals and a pile of ashes in their bodies, there is almost nothing left. They are just like ghosts without a physical body. That is why they are called evil spirits by the locals.” Shahr explained with a smile, “These specimens of the tissue were preserved because of some special factors. They are of great research value.”
Qin Lun nodded thoughtfully. This was very similar to the Illusory Demon. After the Illusory Demon died, it would not be able to leave a corpse behind. In the end, it would only leave behind a blood droplet in the ashes. The remaining soul power was the best supplement for the Life Slaying Legacy.
“Did Dr. Shahr, Captain Hans, and the two lieutenants use evil spirit transformation techniques?” Qin Lun’s eyelids suddenly twitched as he remembered the familiar smell of blood he had smelled on the training ground.
He originally thought that it was a vampire bloodline, but now he thought that the vampires only used blood as food. In life and battle, they didn’t smell any blood.
The reason why he felt so familiar at that time was precisely because the smell of blood was exactly the same as the smell on the Illusory Demon’s body. Qin Lun had stayed in Paris for a few days in the Illusory Demon World, and his nose was filled with this kind of smell. How could he not be familiar with it?
“Yes, and no!” Dr. Shahr and Major Montana looked at each other meaningfully, and the doctor explained, “As most evil spirits fail to leave behind a physical body, our understanding of evil spirits is not as profound as that of Green College.
Most of the Y2K bug’s organization members’ body transformation and basic technology came from Mina Huck, but later on, they were mixed with some evil spirits’ research results. Lieutenant Hans and the others have superhuman bloodlines that are a mixture of vampires and evil spirits. ”
“Doctor, you are truly fearless. No matter what kind of mixed bloodline it is, it is easy to cause problems. Aren’t you afraid of harming the captain and the others?” Qin Lun couldn’t help but smile bitterly. He had already fused two bloodlines. However, if he didn’t have the profession prompt from the starry sky, he wouldn’t dare to act so recklessly.
“Captain, they all volunteered!” The one who answered was Major Montana, and he had a helpless expression. “Gerthard, I once said that there was a time when the organization lost hope of reviving the empire. Everyone decided to perish with their enemies and didn’t care about these things at all.”
Fortunately, we have Dr. Shahr, the world’s best superhuman researcher, and with the exception of a handful of soldiers who lost their lives, most of them were eventually transformed. ”
“You’re flattering me!” Shahr smiled and bowed to Qin Lun. “Major Gerthardt, Captain Kluger, I heard from the major that Captain Hans and the two lieutenants weren’t as strong as they expected in the previous duel. If that’s the case, please tell me what you really think!”
“No, the three of them have their own characteristics. The reason why they are at a disadvantage in the competition with us is because they don’t have enough combat experience. It has nothing to do with their strength.” Qin Lun thought for a moment before replying, “But since their bloodline comes from Mina Huck, and Mina is the descendant of the vampire that the enemy has just embraced, will they be kidnapped when they meet that Alcatel?”
“Yes, I had similar worries before. That’s why I added the research results of evil spirits to their bloodlines.” Dr. Shahr pushed his glasses and said, “After that, it has largely made up for the lack of bloodline.”
“For example, Captain Hans and the others are different from ordinary vampires. They are not afraid of sunlight and silver. They have a strong ability to recover themselves and are free from their natural obedience to the higher vampires …”
Qin Lun’s eyes lit up. He frowned and asked, “Then, have the common weaknesses of the vampires and evil spirits increased as well?”
