The Death List Novel - Chapter 396
Chapter 396 Yespike
A bird with a tuft of white fur above its head drew a beautiful arc around the merchant ship, flapping its wings and resting on the crossbar of the main mast. It stood side by side with several of its predecessors and tilted its head to stare at the bow of the ship.
White-headed magical gulls with hooked beaks are the most common carnivorous birds of the Sea of Glory and Steam Lakes. They are small and feed on shallow sea fish. Before storms arrived, they would often shuttle through the sea in groups, emitting loud and clear cries, allowing sailboats on the sea surface to avoid storms ahead of time, and were regarded as auspicious symbols by sailors who lived on the sea all year round.
However, the group of white-headed magical gulls that had stopped on the main mast did not gather because of the storm. But because someone at the bow was fishing to feed them out of boredom.
“Ferrari, hunting for entertainment violates the teachings of Reiffen. You should stop blaspheming now!”
Seeing Qin Lun pull up the fishing rod again and throw an Aria herring into the sky, allowing the flock of white-headed magical gulls to fight for its prey, Elistine blushed and indignantly stopped it.
“Elistine, this isn’t a forest. Besides, the White-Headed Demonic Gull is Cesilla’s pet. I’m serving a divine attendant. It’s not like I’m blaspheming the faith of a hunter, is it?” Seeing the elven druid’s complexion change from white to purple, Qin Lun hurriedly threw the last big green fish to Venus and raised his hand to surrender. “Alright, if you win, I’ll stop now!”
“Oh right, where’s that guy Milleras?” Qin Lun stood up and poured the sea water from the fish bucket out of the ship’s side.
“He’s in the cabin, and he’s unconscious again!” Elistine smiled bitterly and shook his head. “The other four Rangers are similar to him.”
“Poor fellow, it’s been three days since we boarded the ship, yet we haven’t adapted yet. I really don’t know how they managed to cross the Falling Star Sea. That sea is five to six times larger than the Steam Lake. Could it be that the Cannes Fishman’s sea demon is much more stable than this kind of merchant ship?” Qin Lun rubbed his chin, shrugged his shoulders, and looked at the deck behind him.
The ship they were on was a medium-sized three-masted merchant ship with a flat bottom and a square stern, and the main mast was a yawning sail. It was well suited for sailing in a less stormy inland sea like the Lake of Steam. Although the speed was not ideal, the higher bow and stern tower and spacious cargo hold could carry more cargo, making it the most cost-effective merchant ship amongst medium-sized ships.
“As long as the Fishman Priest uses the Underwater Breathing Spell, travelers can ride tamed sea demons underwater to avoid the turbulence of the wind and waves. Large sea demons can also swallow travelers’ cheeks like luxury carriages. Long-distance travel is much more comfortable than merchant ships like ours!”
Behind Qin Lun came a middle-aged man wearing a triangle captain hat. He explained casually and asked cautiously with a flattering smile, “Sir Ferrar, we’re going to get close to Yespike in half a day. Do you want to get off the ship according to the original plan?”
“Yes, but we don’t get off at the harbor. You just need to find an uninhabited beach near Jesus Park!” Qin Lun’s eyes lit up and he patted the captain’s shoulder with a smile. “I’ve troubled you for the past few days. I wonder if those gold coins are enough to make up for the delay in our journey.”
“Enough, enough! Even if you buy our ship’s specialty products, it will be enough. You are truly a generous lord!” The middle-aged captain wiped the sweat off his forehead and forced a smile to compliment him. As for whether he was cursing Qin Lun or not, only the heavens knew.
Compared to the gold coins in his hands, the human captain was really worried that these unbridled mercenaries would kill and silence them after disembarking. Now, he regretted letting Qin Lun and the others board because he was greedy for money.
His ship was not originally on the current route, but crossed the Lake of Steam to the port of Delaske in the Kingdom of Shaya on the north bank. Sailing westward along the south coast to Jespike now was a complete opposite direction.
The middle-aged captain had traveled all these years and admitted that he had some eyesight. Originally, he would not risk letting a mercenary group of more than 20 people board the ship. However, there were many elves in this mercenary corps, and the two elves leading them looked like respected great figures, completely unable to match up to the vicious pirates. That was why they became greedy.
He hadn’t expected that the mercenaries would turn against each other shortly after they left the shore. Relying on his tyrannical strength, he forcefully defeated more than 30 sailors on the ship, forcing them to change their course and head towards Jespec.
This was also part of Robin’s plan. Santalin didn’t know which route they were on or which merchant ship they were on, so the chances of intercepting them at sea were minimal.
Even Qin Lun admired the beauty’s meticulous mind when he recalled the rigor of the voyage plan. Even if he were to arrange it, he probably wouldn’t be able to do it any better.
“Ferrari, aren’t we going too far?” Seeing the middle-aged captain’s worried departure, Elistine asked guiltily.
Qin Lun turned around and looked at the calm sea like a pure sapphire. He replied meaningfully, “You think too much. We elves don’t have the qualifications to pity humans. They are Fei Lun’s masters.”
Elistine was stunned, and Elder Edeline’s worried expression flashed through his mind before the two of them set off. The elven druid’s expression immediately fell into a daze and he fell silent. Qin Lun was right. Compared to the mission on their shoulders, some ideas were a bit redundant.
…
Three hours later, before sunset, Qin Lun and the others finally saw a mess of rocks on the horizon. Behind the Chaos Beach was a cliff that stretched along the coastline and into the distance.
Seeing this scene, everyone knew that they should have arrived at their destination. Along the banks of the Lake of Steam, only the Aramir Mountains of the Amraven Peninsula have such seaside cliffs.
The waves crashed into pieces on the ferocious dark brown reef, and rumbling sounds echoed in his ears like muffled thunder.
“Robin, is this the right place?” Kelly frowned slightly as she looked at the monster-like reef on the shore.
This kind of place couldn’t dock and stop the ship. Although it wasn’t a problem for them, at that time, the hijacked merchant ship would definitely escape. Once ashore, there would be no turning back. Naturally, they had to confirm their destination.
Robin raised an oddly shaped triangle and looked at the setting sun in the sky for a while before replying cautiously, “That’s right. Judging from the data provided by the Stellar Gauge, this is indeed the Amraven Peninsula. Compared to the map provided by the Anke Fairy Court, it should be near Jesus Park.”
“Then let’s begin!” Kelly’s face revealed a hint of relief. She squatted down and looked at Milleras, who was leaning against the side of the ship with a pale face. She patted him on the shoulder with a smile and said, “Hold on a little longer, I’ll bring you ashore.”
‘”Kay, Kelly, can you let Ivan and Elistine bring me ashore!” The Sun Elf Prince retched bitterly and said out of breath.
“What? Sister is personally responsible for taking care of you. Do you have any objections?” Kelly raised her eyebrows and hugged her chest unhappily.
“No, no!”
“Then let’s go!” Carrie stretched out her little finger-exposed hand, carried Milleras, and jumped off the deck. A pair of Dou Qi wings instantly spread out behind her, and she jumped towards the distant reef.
The group on the deck watched as Milleras lay on Kelly’s shoulder, his stomach nauseated. They couldn’t help but mourn for the unlucky Prince of the Sun Elves. The violent woman obviously did not know what it meant to be pity for the beauty and cherish the beauty of the jade, and she had caused him a lot of hardship along the way.
“Sir Ferrari, let’s go ashore first!” Stark threw a glance at Qin Lun and grabbed a Sun Elf Ranger who had been tortured half to death by sea sickness and jumped off the ship. He didn’t have Kelly’s Dou Qi Light Wings, but this place was less than a kilometer away from the shore, so he could just swim there.
“Elistine, let’s go too!” Qin Lun turned around and smiled at the elven druid.
“En!” Elistine leapt into the air and transformed into a giant eagle. Qin Lun lightly jumped, grabbed one of her claws, and was brought to the shore.
“Commander Robin, these people” Seeing that the plot elves had already left, Philip glanced at the trembling captain and sailors on the deck and leaned close to Robin, asking softly.
Robin frowned slightly and saw a cold light flash in the eyes of the sailors on the ship. After pondering for a moment, he shook his head. “Forget it, there is almost no chance that these people will have any connection with Santalin. The plot elves are very disgusted with the unprovoked killing. If they are left with too many bad impressions, it will be disadvantageous to the cooperation below.”
…
“It’s Karinshan!” Milleras clutched his blanket with some emotion as he looked down the mountains of the Aramir Mountains on the moonlit night.
“Milleras, have some hot soup!” Qin Lun stood up from the bonfire with a smile and handed him a bowl of clear soup.
“Ferrari, you know what? I never thought I would be able to reach Kalinshan alive. I thought Jondale or Ank Forest would be the end of my life!” Milleras stared at the blurry reflection on the surface of the soup and muttered to himself in a daze.
“We will continue walking until we complete the miracle of returning to the Ancient Road!” Qin Lun pointed at the steep mountain peak in front of him and smiled. “I heard that there is a dwarf castle in the Alamir Mountains. Don’t you want to see the ancient Sanata civilization? Perhaps we can find some treasures in the ruins of the castle that haven’t been seen for tens of thousands of years!”
“Haha, it’s really exciting to hear you say that!” A flush appeared on Milleras’ pale face. He raised his head and drank a mouthful of hot soup. He shook his head and smiled, “Feral, you really don’t look like a sentimental Moon Fairy. Now I really like you!”
“Milleras, this is … really embarrassing! You know, I only like beautiful female elves …”
