The Death List Novel - Chapter 300
Chapter 300 Board A Boat
The four people in the living room turned around and saw a young man in a white suit standing side by side with a professional beauty at the door. The young man had golden curls, his temples curled up like eaves, a pure white suit, a wide-edged courtesy on his head, and a short silver staff in his hand.
There seemed to be a mocking smile hanging at the corner of his mouth, and a trace of craftiness flashed across his azure eyes. His gentlemanly attire was mixed with a kind of unrestrained temperament, which left a deep impression at the first glance.
Unlike her companions, who were frivolous and carefree, the beauty in a small suit and short skirt had a solemn expression. Her long black hair was coiled into a cloud bun on her head, and her rigid face was full of rigor. From time to time, she used her fingers to support the golden spectacles on her nose. Her black eyes unconsciously revealed a trace of pride and coldness as she looked at the crowd.
“I am Silver Mercury. You can call me Silver. You can call the beauty next to me Lisa.” Silver bowed slightly and smiled. “First of all, congratulations to the four of you for passing our inspection. Next, we will take the four of you aboard the airship and leave Meteor Street for Watt City.”
“When will our tribe receive support materials?” The one-eyed man with a scar on his face asked in a low voice.
“Everyone, please rest assured that the organization will fulfill its promise immediately after you sign the employment contract on the airship. The resource vehicle has been handed over to the Meteor Street Council of Patriarchs. In addition, the search for an adoptive family for the family in the outside world will begin at that time.” As he spoke, Yin’s gaze inadvertently swept past Qin Lun.
They reviewed Qin Lun’s information again last night. There was a request to emigrate to Little Nan and Little Ya. Clearly, the young man’s suspicions were completely dispelled. The existence of two small “family members” of Meteor Street had an effect that Qin Lun had not expected.
After a short conversation, everyone followed Yin and Lisa out of the villa without any further questions.
Silver drove a large RV out of the villa garage. The RV was equipped with armor plates on both sides and an air filtration system. It was a fully enclosed vehicle, presumably designed to isolate the poisonous dust on the outskirts of Meteor Street.
The room in the RV was very large. The original bed had been torn down, and there was a small bar counter at the back, with a small salon arranged in the middle.
“You can get your own drinks and pastries here. If there’s no problem, you’d better not interfere with our drive.” Silver instructed, then went to the front and concentrated on driving, leaving the four Meteor Street thugs with wide eyes.
Qin Lun looked at the two examiners in front of him and sneered. He went to the bar to open a bottle of red wine and began to think about life. The other three looked at each other, and they quickly followed suit and quieted down.
From the villa to the airship on the outskirts of Meteor Street, it wasn’t too far. After about an hour’s drive, Yin stopped to call for everyone to get off.
As soon as the car door was opened, a strong wind pounced into the carriage like a raging dragon. A storm mixed with sand knocked everyone’s clothes violently.
Qin Lun was a little surprised. Although he had heard from Bones that there were poisonous sandstorms around Meteor Street, he hadn’t expected the wind to be so strong. No wonder Meteor Street had been like an island for thousands of years, isolated from the civilized world. Ordinary people were truly unable to cross this natural chasm.
Qin Lun covered his nose and mouth with his sleeves. However, judging from the performance of the others, he seemed to have grown accustomed to sandstorms and walked towards the distance without changing his expression.
In front of the gray sandstorm, the silhouette of a gigantic creature could be faintly seen. This was a huge airship that was 150 meters long and 30 meters wide. Below the airship was a long, closed pod about eighty meters long and twenty meters wide.
Seeing Qin Lun and the others approaching, an iron curtain door was rolled up under the pod, revealing a simple ladder with a simple frame. Qin Lun and the others quickened their pace and boarded the airship.
The interior structure of the airship’s pod was very compact. After passing through the gate, there was a wide public area. There were round glass windows around it that could overlook the city scenery from high up in the sky. In front was the cab that no one was allowed to enter, and in the back was the living room and the lounge.
After boarding the airship, Yin and Lisa’s expressions relaxed a lot. After teasing a few crew members in white uniforms, they brought four mercenaries to the rest area.
Instead of sending the four mercenaries back to their rooms, the two brought them into a small conference hall. After a brief explanation, the four of them each signed an employment contract.
The contract specifies the scope of work and benefits for the four people. Their job descriptions are very general and generally fall within the scope of security work, but the substance is certainly not limited to this. As for the benefits, they were very clear. Not only were there wages and bonuses, but there were also detailed regulations on the grades of employees who received different benefits.
The four Meteor Street thugs, including Qin Lun, had basically become a glorious gangster after signing this contract. Of course, they were still newbies for the time being.
Regarding this contract, neither the three authentic Meteor Street thugs nor Qin Lun had any disagreements or opinions. The three Meteor Street thugs were confused, but Qin Lun didn’t care at all. As long as it wasn’t a soul contract, the paper document didn’t bind him at all.
Silver and Lisa exchanged a glance after putting away the contract that the four of them had signed, and their expressions eased up a lot. In a sense, these four people were already in the same group as them. As long as there were no major problems in the future, they would sooner or later become their companions.
“Alright, relax. The airship has already taken off. There won’t be any more dangers here. Except for some cabins that are forbidden from entering, you can walk around. Anyone who wants to rest can go back to their rooms and rest.”
Lisa revealed a rare smile that flattered everyone else. Apart from Yin and Qin Lun, the other three Meteor Street thugs did not recognize this elegant professional beauty. In fact, she was the maid who brought them tea and water yesterday.
“Oh, right, there are still some people on the airship who are participating in the Hunter Examination organized by the Council of Elders. Remember not to clash with them. This is high up in the sky. If you fall, your body will be shattered.” Just as they were about to leave, Yin Zhuo narrowly blinked at them.
After leaving, the relaxed expressions on Yin and Lisa’s faces immediately disappeared.
“There are actually only four people who have completed less than half of the target.” Silver smiled bitterly and said, “Those old fellows from the Council of Elders are really sinister. They insisted on putting the selection time during the Hunter’s Examination to deliberately cause trouble for us!”
“People are poor and short-sighted. Aren’t they still thinking of airships? If they come together at this time, the examinees will be able to use the airships of the organization and save them a lot of freight.” Lisa pushed her glasses and said coldly, “Let’s go. Since we’re all on the airship, it’s convenient for us to pull people. I hope we can fill up the remaining indicators.”
…
“The Meteor Street thugs participating in the Hunter exam are also on the same airship?” Qin Lun was greatly surprised by Silver’s inadvertent reminder.
After spending some time together, he had basically figured out the background of the other three people beside him. From some habitual details, it could be seen that the alertness and combat talent of these three people were very strong. However, without systematic training in martial skills, they should all belong to the wild path of fighting on the streets.
Although they might have awakened their mindfulness, they were no match for him in terms of theory. As for Yin and Lisa, Qin Lun didn’t dare to rashly use them. Since the two of them could be used as examiners by the underworld gang, they were obviously shrewd people. If one of them did not arouse suspicion, it would affect the main mission behind them.
Thinking of this, Qin Lun stood up and pushed the door open. Standing on the aisle outside the conference hall, the young man suddenly remembered something. He lowered his head and looked at his body. Immediately, his eyebrows raised. He was still wearing clothes from the shattered starry sky to conceal his identity, a tattered and dirty T-shirt and jeans.
Because the airship itself belonged to the gangs, the conference hall they were in belonged to the core area of the airship’s pod. The entire area included the conference hall, more than ten rooms, and a small bar. There were also some beautiful waitresses in uniforms.
Qin Lun reached out and stopped a passing waiter. He smiled and asked, “Is there a clothing hall on the airship?”
“Please follow me, sir!” The waiter was very professional. His gaze did not stop on Qin Lun’s clothes at all. He smiled and turned around to lead the way, as if he was used to such a thing.
A dozen minutes later, Qin Lun brushed his shiny back and appeared on the front deck of the airship’s pod in high spirits. He had changed into a black gown, a tie, a glass of red wine in his right hand, and a trouser pocket in his left, and he looked like a well-educated young gentleman.
However, to his disappointment, there weren’t many people on the deck at this moment. At a glance, only a few uniformed airship crew members made his attempt to probe the members of the Hunter Examination futile.
Actually, Qin Lun had overlooked one point. The Meteor Street thugs who took part in the Hunter’s Examination were different from them. They had experienced a fierce battle last night. Even if he wasn’t injured, he still hadn’t recovered, so he naturally wouldn’t wander around like him.
As time passed, the airship slowly flew out of the sandstorm on Meteor Street, and bright sunlight shone through the airship’s bulletproof windows. Perhaps because of the sunlight, the airship’s window did not condense any mist. Instead, a layer of blurry steam was pasted on the inside of the glass.
Qin Lun took out a silk handkerchief from his gown pocket and wiped it on the steam. He looked down through the bulletproof glass.
Looking down from this angle, the entire Meteor Street was like boiling porridge, churning with a layer of pale yellow mist. Perhaps because there were too many metallic particles in the dust, the reflected sunlight produced a long and gorgeous rainbow above Meteor Street.
“Isn’t it amazing that such a beautiful scenery can be found in the forgotten violent streets of the world?” A familiar voice suddenly came from behind Qin Lun.
