The Death List Novel - Chapter 3
Chapter 3 Temporal Teleportation
Qin Lun leaned against the wall and looked outside through the window with a calm expression. He was in a dozen-odd square cells, with fist-sized windows on the steel door and alloy plates on all four walls. There was only a single folding bed on the steel wall and a composite flush toilet.
Through the air window, Qin Lun could see a row of cells of the same type in the distance. Only a portion of these cells were occupied by prisoners. He soon discovered that most of the prisoners were as quiet as he was, and that the cell area was deathly silent.
In the corridors of the cell area, guards would often pass through, and some newly promoted prisoners would join the ranks of the guests. Qin Lun originally thought that there was an unexpected delay in the death sentence, so he was transferred to another prison. But very quickly, the murderer overturned this judgement, because the guards who occasionally passed through the cell area did not look like prison guards.
These guards were dressed in federal military uniforms and held standard particle guns. Their movements were filled with unconcealable elegance. Clearly, they were no ordinary prison guards, but rather regular federal soldiers.
“Puchi! Puchi!” A strange sound came from the corridor in the cell area.
Qin Lun’s expression changed slightly. He was very familiar with this sound. It was the sound of footsteps from the steam confinement device. It seemed like there was an additional heavyweight guest here.
It had been almost a week since he had been given a tranquilizer by nurse Xiaolian. During the week, Qin Lun had seen several prisoners wearing steam confinement devices passing through the cell corridor. In other words, he was most likely not the only murderer in this “prison” controlled by the federal military.
…
“I finally saw you, Killer Qin Lun!”
In a spacious surveillance room, there were several white coats accompanying a handsome youth watching Qin Lun’s stereo projection. The young man was dressed in gorgeous clothes and had a domineering manner. A mocking smile hung on the corners of his mouth, which was incompatible with the surrounding researchers in white coats.
Looking at Qin Lun’s three-inch three-dimensional projection, the youth’s eyes revealed a trace of fanaticism.
“Arrange it for me. I want to see him!”
“Young Master Lin, this … is too dangerous!” A middle-aged man in a white coat behind the young man pushed the golden spectacles on his nose and said awkwardly, “Don’t look at Qin Lun like this. He has schizophrenia, and there is another murderous demon in his body …”
“Alright, I know more about Qin Lun than you do!” The young man waved his hand impatiently and interrupted the middle-aged man. “Hurry up and arrange it for me. I can’t wait to see him!”
After saying that, the young man reached out and took Qin Lun’s “Death List”. He turned around and walked straight towards the cell area. Behind him, two black-clothed bodyguards silently followed him.
“Doctor, do you really have to do this?” A graduate student approached the middle-aged man in front of his white coat and whispered, “Qin Lun is an S-class felon. This will violate the rules of the base!”
“Letting Lin Feng enter Area 91 has already violated the rules of the base!” The middle-aged doctor pushed his glasses and helplessly said, “Who told him to be General Lin’s only son? General Lin is the military representative of District 91. He controls the allocation of funds to the base. We can’t afford to offend him. Tell the guards in the cell area to anesthetize Qin Lun and put a steam confinement device on him.”
“Normally, Lin Feng wouldn’t be so unreasonable when he came to the base. What’s going on this time?” The young graduate student asked with a puzzled expression.
‘”What do you know? I heard that he is a big fan of Qin Lun and has collected a lot of information about his case. He even bribed police officers and took out a lot of murder props from the Handan police station as evidence.”
The middle-aged doctor glanced around and whispered as he looked at the student he valued the most. “Lin Feng and some young masters of aristocratic families organized a death tournament for rich and powerful people to watch. Killer devils like Qin Lun are all ace players in the tournament.”
“What?” The graduate student’s entire body trembled, and his eyes shone with disbelief. “So, every time Lin Feng came, those prisoners who died suddenly were all killed by him …”
“Shut up. It’s good that you understand. There’s no need to say it out loud. Otherwise, your research work here will be over!” The middle-aged doctor gave his student a stern look.
…
Qin Lun woke up in a daze. There was still a faint trace of dizziness in his mind. He moved his hands and feet and found that his body looked exceptionally heavy. It was as if he was wearing a steam trap again, and his mobility was restricted. He could only stand still.
“Killer Qin Lun!” A handsome face appeared in front of the prisoner.
Lin Feng stared at the pair of clear and pure eyes in the steel mask. His gaze slowly revealed a trace of fanaticism. He put aside the “Death List” that contained Qin Lun’s information and slowly approached the steam confinement device.
“Young Master Lin!” The two black-clothed bodyguards exchanged glances and stepped between the steel monster and Lin Feng.
“Get lost!” Lin Feng angrily pushed away the black-clothed bodyguard in front of him. He opened his arms and held the steam trap in his arms. He gently rubbed his face against the steel mask as he muttered in a low voice.
‘”Your existence is amazing. You are simply a born star. I have collected everything about you, news, briefings, inside information … I even bribed the police to copy the photos of the crime scene. They are my most valued collection!”
The two black-clothed bodyguards unnaturally turned their heads and followed the young master for many years. They were not surprised by his abnormal behavior. After all, the murderer was imprisoned in the steam device, so it was unlikely that it would cause any substantial damage to Lin Feng.
A sinister smile slowly appeared on Lin Feng’s face.
“What the f*ck do the bigwigs of the club know? They only treat you as a murderous maniac. Only I know how to appreciate your’performance art ‘. You will become my ace and bring me the honor of being the champion in the Death Championship.”
“Oh, right, I brought you a greeting gift!” Lin Feng slapped his forehead and took out a small brocade bag from the lining pocket of his suit. “Look, I replaced the killing props you used in the evidence room of the Handan police. This item was made from meteoric iron fused with those killing props! Isn’t it a work of art? Isn’t it beautiful?”
A crescent-shaped black dagger lay quietly in the brocade bag, a bit like half a blade of a scissors. The blade of the dagger was as thick as a paper cutter, and its spine had a row of sharp serrated teeth, just like the fine fangs in the mouth of a piranha. The hilt of the saber did not have a proper leather sleeve to shake hands with. On the other hand, there was a steel ring at the end of the saber that could fit into the thumb. It was no different from the bitterness of a ninja.
Qin Lun’s killing methods were extremely bloody and cruel, and he had used a lot of killing tools. The bodies of the victims were usually dismembered. Amongst the many dismemberment items, the murderer’s favorite weapon was a variety of dismantled scissors.
The psychiatrist’s analysis to the police suggested that this could be due to the sharp scissors in Qin Lun’s hands when his stepparents and the male nurse at the Children’s Welfare Institute were killed. The indelible mental trauma of childhood made the single scissors the guardian prop and killing weapon on which the murderers depended for their survival.
After seeing the crescent-shaped blade, there was finally a trace of fluctuation in the clear eyes behind the steel mask, shining with Mo Ming’s complicated light.
“Don’t worry, Qin Lun, it will definitely belong to you!” Lin Fengzhi nodded his head in satisfaction. He wrapped the black blade back up and put it into the inner pocket of his suit.
…
At the same time, on the large screen in the control center of Area 91, large amounts of free particles suddenly lit up in the spherical area and contracted towards the center. A tiny sun lit up at the core, and the spherical region collapsed.
A programmer on the console shouted nervously, “General, the spatial rift is about to appear”.
“How is that possible? The free particles have been in a dormant state all week. How could they suddenly become active?” The white-haired chief engineer of the base on the podium widened his eyes, staring at the scene on the big screen in shock.
“Doctor, how much time do we have to transport prisoners to the spatial rift?” The general beside him’s face changed as he turned around and asked.
“It’s too late, too late” The old chief engineer looked at the big screen and muttered to himself.
“Doctor, the activity of free particles has broken through to the highest level in history. There seems to be signs of expansion in the spacetime domain!”
“What?!” The old doctor and the general were shocked at the same time.
The spherical spacetime domain was just above the base in Area 91. If the spacetime domain started to expand, the entire base would be in danger.
“Chi la!” Before the two upper echelons of the base could issue an order, a pitch-black crack appeared on the large screen of the control center, like the vertical pupils of a monster, in the spherical area. The vertical pupils slowly stretched to both sides, and an oval-shaped orange-yellow portal appeared in front of everyone.
“What is this?” The white-haired old doctor cried out in alarm, but his eyes were filled with unconcealable excitement. For a scientist like him, Chao Wendao could die on the verge of death! His passion for exploring the mysteries of the universe far outweighed the importance he attached to his own life.
Along with the appearance of the teleportation gate, the spherical space-time domain shrunk. The diameter of the original space-time domain, which was only a few hundred meters, suddenly expanded tenfold, enveloping all the niches in Area 91.
Whoosh! The shrine-shaped building that represented the Federation 91 experimental base seemed to have shrunk into a toy as it flew towards the teleportation portal. Even the underground parts of the building were uprooted, bringing a large amount of dirt and sand into the teleportation portal.
After swallowing everything around him, the vertical-pupiled teleportation portal slowly closed and disappeared into the air. The expanded spherical spacetime domain shrank sharply again, but it did not return to its original diameter of several hundred meters. Instead, it shrank into a single point and disappeared without a trace.
A gentle breeze blew past, and the spherical spacetime domain that had existed for hundreds of years in the primeval forest of Huaxia District finally disappeared, leaving behind only a circular pit with a diameter of several kilometers.
