The Beautiful Time With You - Chapter 81
Chapter 81: The Great Demon King Is Cramping Up (1)
Halfway through, his phone rang. It was from the driver. “Young Master, there is one thing I forgot to tell you. Miss Shi said that she intends to visit Old Master Lin at the hospital later in the afternoon…”
“If she wants to visit Grandfather, so be it…” Lin Jiage replied leisurely as he wondered if there was something wrong with the driver. Why was the other party calling over to inform him that Soft Bun wanted to visit his grandfather?
With such thoughts in mind, he moved the phone away from his ear, intending to hang up.
But barely after he lowered his phone to his neck level, Lin Jiage suddenly froze on the spot, as if someone had sealed his acupoints[1].
Noticing that Lin Jiage had suddenly stopped in the middle of the road, Xia Shangzhou and Lu Benlai also halted their footsteps in bewilderment as they shot questioning gazes toward him.
“Boss, what’s wrong?”
“There’s a really grave look on your face. Who’s calling?”
Ignoring the chattering duo, Lin Jiage lifted his phone back to his ear, and this time, his tone was devoid of the nonchalance it had a moment ago, “Why didn’t you inform me earlier that she wanted to visit Grandfather in the afternoon?”
Before the driver could explain himself, Lin Jiage had already continued on, “Didn’t you inform me last night that everything is settled? Is this what you meant by settled?”
In the midst of his words, Lin Jiage had already turned around and began dashing for the school gates.
Lu Benlai: “Boss, you’re heading the wrong way! The classroom is over there…”
Xia Shangzhou: “Boss, we only have a minute before the Great Demon King’s class! While he does favor you a lot, if you skip his class without a valid reason, he will prepare an entire stack of tough questions to drown you in the next lesson…”
I would really be walking the wrong way if I were to follow you lot!
Putting aside the Great Demon King, even if it is Abbess Miejue[2]’s class, I would still have to skip it regardless of the cost…
Paying no heed to the shocked exclamations of the duo behind him, Lin Jiage hung up the phone and hastened his footsteps.
A few steps later, his brisk walk had already turned into a sprint.
…
Speeding all the way to the hospital on a taxi, Lin Jiage hurriedly passed a few bills to the driver and rushed out without even waiting for his change.
There were many people queuing up for the lift. Lin Jiage waited impatiently for ten seconds before decisively opting for the emergency stairs by the side instead. Running up two steps at a time, he rushed up ten floors in a single shot.
Just as he barged out of the emergency staircase, he saw Shi Yao’s figure strolling into his grandfather’s ward.
What a relief… She just got here too…
Not even daring to spare any time to catch his breath, Lin Jiage rushed straight for his grandfather’s ward.
Just a second after Shi Yao closed the ward door, it was forcefully pushed open by him. The huge ruckus he had caused drew confused gazes from the alarmed crowd upon him.
Auntie Sun was the first to react, “Young Master, what’s wrong? You’re completely soaked in sweat!”
Still basking in the relief that he had made it in time, Lin Jiage stood on the spot silently, trying to calm his unsteady breathing.
Meanwhile, Grandpa Lin had been leisurely sipping on a cup of tea on his elevated bed when the two guests suddenly arrived. He first shot a questioning gaze at Shi Yao, who hadn’t informed him of her visit prior, before turning his gaze toward Lin Jiage, whose arrival was also as abrupt as Shi Yao’s. It took just a mere second for him to adjust his expression to one that was deeply ill, and with a feeble tone that reflected the same, he turned to Auntie Sun and said, “This cup is a little too heavy. Bring me another one.”
Auntie Sun quickly did as she was told.
Grandpa Lin ‘strenuously’ took two sips of tea before saying, “Auntie Sun, I’m feeling a little tired. Help me into a resting position.”
Auntie Sun followed through with the instructions she was issued.
When Grandpa Lin was finally lying in a comfortable position on the hospital bed, he turned his gaze toward Lin Jiage once more and asked, “Shouldn’t you be in class right now?”
[1] This is a Wuxia reference, most notably in Jin Yong’s books. To give a brief idea of it, ‘acupoints’ are major junctions where energy flow through, and there are some acupoints, when sealed, would prevent one from moving.
[2] Abbess Miejue is one of the major antagonists in Jin Yong’s ‘The Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber’. Despite being a nun and the head of the E’mei Sect, her entire mind is filled with vengeance and a desire to dominate the pugilistic world. In order to further her goal, she forced her disciples to turn against their loved ones. In modern day settings, her name has occasionally been used to refer to teachers who are extremely frightening and strict.
