The Anarchic Consort Novel - Chapter 399
Chapter 399: His Highness Was Jealous
Being in the dream realm caused Helian Wei Wei’s beautiful eyebrows to scrunch tightly. Her black hair was completely drenched in her sweat and plastered firmly against her forehead.
Baili Jia Jue clearly noticed her reaction. Hence, he reached out in a swoop and locked her securely in his embrace, kissing her ruthlessly and violently. It felt as if it was a punishment of pure wrath.
Helian Wei Wei moaned as she muffled in pain, but Baili Jia Jue seized the opportunity of her open mouth and bit her lips.
“Hmm… Uhm…” He seemed to be truly infuriated…
Helian Wei Wei pondered in a daze, wondering how the Third Prince would punish her this time.
Then, she heard his low whisper echoing next to her ear, “If you hurt yourself again, I will take the advantage to make love with you while you are blacked out!”
His raspy voice was surprisingly tinged with a slight sense of yearning.
Helian Wei Wei dared not face Baili Jia Jue. Her broken left arm had already been pinched beforehand by someone else.
She merely leaned her head sideways, wiping away the slivers of his saliva that were stuck on the corner of her lips with the back of her hand. However, she did it too forcefully and the friction left a trail of redness on her skin.
“Stop wiping,” Baili Jia Jue ordered as he halted her moving hand. It is merely a scratch on the corner of her mouth, does she hate the kiss that much? Feelings of anger, jealousy, and outrage tangled, hovered and intensified inside him, surging into his chest and aching him.
Helian Wei Wei simply obeyed him. It was quite confusing to her as she could not comprehend how the relationship between her and Baili Jia Jua had reached this stage…
As she was letting her imagination roam free, she heard Baili Jia Jue took a deep breath. He uttered in a deep voice as he opened his stunning narrow eyes, “If you do not wish to sleep, we can do something else.”
His voice was seductively raspy and his intention was clear as day to her. However, Helian Wei Wei merely felt numb in her ears and instantly hid under her blanket to sleep.
So that is how much she doesn’t want to be touched by me. Baili Jia Jue clenched his teeth as he scanned over her laidback figure, feeling so offended that he could almost explode. Words of interrogation almost escaped his mouth but he halted when he saw Helian Wei Wei’s expression. Her delicate lips were pursed and her cheeks were slightly flushed in crimson red. She seemed to be a little nervous.
Ha.
How rare.
Even a sly fox can feel nervous.
As they both lay on the same bed, he embraced her in his arms with his chin resting on top of her head. However, a shuddering chill emanated from his eyes.
When Helian Wei Wei woke up, the other side of the bed was already vacant and only damp moisture remained on that side of the blanket.
Initially, she was dumbfounded. Later, she called Qing Zhan over and found out that His Highness had returned to the palace to prepare for the selection of his secondary consort. It was quite fortunate that he had asked for the name of that person.
No one knew that everyone in Tang Sect had undergone a rigorous regime of training before joining the Tang Sect.
If anyone attempted to investigate the news about Young Master Tang, his body would have a fundamental response.
Of course, Helian Wei Wei had never undergone any training aforementioned.
However, she too would never mention his name.
After all, he was the only one she would want to protect in the 21st century.
However…
“What happened yesterday?” Helian Wei Wei asked Yuan Ming, “Didn’t you tell me that there will only be a reaction on the Full Moon night?”
Yuan Ming smiled devilishly. “There has been a change in his Qi. That man possesses a Qi that all magic practitioners would kill for.”
“So, I should still stay away from him.” Helian Wei Wei reached for her neck, massaging her aching muscles.
Yuan Ming suddenly stood up and exclaimed, “Something’s not right!”
“What is it?”
Helian Wei Wei had barely finished speaking when they heard a loud piercing screech echoing from the Superior Compound. That scream was exceedingly abnormal, it was imbued with an unspeakable horror as it filtered through the pitter-patter of the pouring rain.
“Someone was murdered! Someone was murdered!”
Indeed, there had been a murder. Furthermore, the deceased was killed in an extremely peculiar manner.
All the blood in the victim completely evaporated by an extraordinarily bizarre method. Her corpse was sucked dry and had completely shriveled up, as the skin sunk deep into the barren skeleton.
Helian Wei Wei furrowed her brows as she lay her eyes on the dead body, uncertainty slowly rising deep in her heart. She was wise to not reveal an ounce of her emotion and merely lowered her gaze as she hastily analyzed the situation. The deceased female was aged between 17 and 19 years old and had died due to excessive blood loss, presumably, sometime between 9 am to 3 pm. However, there were no obvious signs of injuries caused by an assault. The body was in perfect shape and health, thus, ruling out any possibilities of mugging for monetary gain.
However, the state of the corpse was extremely grotesque, thus arousing a fair amount of discomfort in anyone that witnessed it.
The incident happened in the White Academy, which was located quite a distance away from the Capital.
It would be impossible for people from yamen to reach there immediately.
Helian Wei Wei could only acquire most of the information from the first murder scene.
The deceased was a young lady from the reasonably well-off Bai family and had a prim and proper appearance. All this while, she had spent her time playing musical instruments in her house. According to her servant, she had been practicing playing music diligently as she had hoped to stand out among the others in the upcoming Selection Ceremony in the Capital.
The servant was bawling uncontrollably as she spoke.
When the maid was sobbing, Helian Wei Wei took the opportunity and managed to swiftly explore the entire house.
It was quite odd as all the doors and windows were locked from inside the room and there was zero evidence of trespassing, even the floor was sparkling clean.
There were no clues of struggling. Other than the lifeless corpse lying on the ground, everything was perfectly normal.
What a strange case indeed.
She had initially suspected that the assailant was extremely highly-skilled, therefore leaving absolutely no traces or evidence behind.
She only realized that her deduction was incorrect when she remembered that it rained yesterday night.
Although the Third Prince’s martial Qi was unparalleled, the humidity of the wet air would still dampen his clothes when he ventured out.
It would be the same now. As it was still raining outside, anyone who entered the house would definitely leave a trace.
Unless the murderer did not enter the house from outside…
This murder case might appear simple but in reality, it was mind-bogglingly complicated.
There was no question that this was a troublesome case of a murder in a locked room.
Helian Wei Wei had never taken part in any case investigation before but even she understood that a murder in a locked room would be the most difficult case to crack.
Yet, this exact incident happened to the Battle Spirit Forces.
“The White Academy has a history of over 100 years and there has never been an incident like this,” Tu Sufeng looked over and faced the four people who just joined him, namely Helian Wei Wei, Yun Biluo, Little Seven, and Han Yu.
“The people from yamen will arrive here soon.” Tu Sufeng spoke gravely, “I know their methods well. If they manage to find any minute hints about the incident, it would greatly disturb the peace of the entire academy.”
Han Yu’s eyes darted toward him, “Does the dean mean that there will be more murder cases to come?”
“It is highly possible.” Tu Sufeng looked down. “In order to prevent further casualties, all of you must quickly find out who the murderer is without revealing your identities.”
“Yes,” Their resounding voices reverberated throughout the Underground Palace.
On the other hand, Helian Wei Wei merely furrowed her brows…
