Chapter 966: Stranger and Founder

“Haa… You shouldn’t be using an Immemorial Mystical Armament like that.”
The voice came suddenly, and the language it spoke was the common tongue of the Law Realm, but Xia Fei felt like he had been struck by a bolt of lightning!
*Zing~*
Xia Fei’s hair stood on end, while every nerve in his mind tensed up!
This was because the speaker did not also have an understanding of Immemorial Mystical Armaments but also exerted an immense pressure on him!
It was as if a boulder weighing ten thousand tons had been placed on each of Xia Fei’s shoulders, rendering him completely immobile. However, this pressure was only controlling him and did not contain any killing intent, which he found to be rather strange. Xia Fei believed that one either did not attack or attacked to kill! There was no room for anything else, yet this person was clearly an exception.
A dark figure emerged from a distant room. As this person sauntered over, he observed the patterns carved into the building, stroking them with his fingers.
*Bang!*
Xia Fei started to panic. It was not his habit to be controlled by others, so he decided to use the Law of Primal Chaos to counterattack!
“It’s useless. I far surpassed your strength. With your current understanding of the Primal Chaos Codex, you have no means of breaking out of the cage I have laid,” the dark figure said slowly. “Also, the reason I have placed you under my control but haven’t hurt you is that your personality is far too sharp, and you tend to erupt and hurt others. I have no desire to fight with you.”
Xia Fei pursed his lips. This person was telling the truth. His personality was such that, if he was not instantly suppressed, he would straight up engage in mortal combat with this stranger.
Xia Fei was racking his brains for a way to break free, but he failed to notice the shock on Radix’s face. As the stranger moved out of the shadows to stand in front of Xia Fei, Radix’s shock reached maximum saturation!
Radix keenly understood what the stranger was doing when he stroked his hand over the patterns. His mouth opened and shut as he tried to speak but immediately swallowed his words again, but his eyes remained fixed on that stranger, radiating light.
The stranger circled around Xia Fei, seemingly very satisfied as he nodded repeatedly. There was a look of surprised delight in his eyes.
Xia Fei carefully examined this person. To his surprise, the stranger was a human! At least on the surface, he did not seem very different from Xia Fei, but his hair was a strange green color, long and loose, exuding an indescribable sense of freedom.
His eyes were as sharp as a hawk’s, and his palms were white and tender, as if they had been maintained extremely well. The profession of warrior did not seem to match him at all.
What truly amazed Xia Fei was that this person had no armor, only some strange garb of white cloth. Perhaps this person did not think that anyone could injure him and simply did not wear armor. A normal warrior would never dare to do such a thing.
“Look. I’ve already amply shown you that I bear no hostility. I even somewhat admire you for being able to kill your way through the chaotic universe and get this far. As long as you promise not to attack me randomly, I’ll let you go,” the stranger said in a gentle tone.
Xia Fei eerily smiled, saying, “I promise. Do you believe me?”
The stranger did not expect this question. He was taken aback, but then he helplessly shrugged and released his control over Xia Fei.
*Whoosh~*
The moment this stranger relaxed, Xia Fei charged out! The fiendish blade Nirvana went straight for the stranger’s face!
In a flash, the stranger changed locations as if this had merely been a projection. This was truly a spatial shift without any sort of energy pulse, an indication of absurd strength!
Seeing that his attack had missed, Xia Fei put away the fiendish blade and stopped around fifty meters away from the stranger. He sternly said, “Now we’re even.”
*Zing~*
Radix’s face shifted as Xia Fei attacked the stranger and stopped. Truly, Xia Fei was someone who always took revenge for even the littlest grievance. His opponent was clearly many ranks higher than he was, yet he had still attacked him with his blade sans hesitation! This attitude left Radix rather speechless.
Of course, this powerful stranger was also left very speechless, helplessly shaking his head.
“Who are you? Why were you spying on me from the shadows?” Xia Fei sternly asked.
The stranger shook his head and helplessly said, “Can’t you be a little more reasonable? I was already here when you barged in.”
Xia Fei did not answer. Who had barged in on whom had never been important to Xia Fei. The key was that no matter how friendly the stranger seemed, he was a threat to him and had to be guarded against.
“You’re truly an unreasonable fellow.” The stranger sighed. He raised an arm and gestured at the massive ruins. “This place was once the residence of the Law Realm’s Founders, the Hall of Theogenesis. This was a place to create gods; alas, because of internal strife, the Hall of Theogenesis was destroyed, leaving only these ruins.”
Xia Fei smiled. “Creating gods? Those guys had quite the ambition.”
The stranger replied, “A monkey that has never seen the wider world will always think itself the king of the forest. Only when the wolf comes will they understand that they lack sharp claws and teeth. This is a very common occurrence, nothing more than some sapient lifeforms who don’t know the vastness of the universe amusing themselves.”
Xia Fei raised an eyebrow, a cold glint in his eyes. What confused him was not the story about the internal strife among the Founders but rather the stranger’s attitude. He was treating the almighty Thirteen Founders as monkeys?! Was he even more powerful than they were?!
Gesturing at Xia Fei to follow, the stranger guided him up the shattered stairs and into a large room. There were statues along the walls, each one a thousand meters tall.
“Behold. These are the thirteen experts who established the Law Realm. The somewhat shorter statues across from them are the twenty-seven, who later managed to catch up to the Founders through their efforts. There were forty in all, the strongest of the strong in the history of the Law Realm!” said the stranger as he gestured at the statues.
Xia Fei noticed that the statues of the Thirteen Founders were all still intact, but the statues of the experts who had come after the Founders were all missing their heads, leaving only their bodies behind.
“Forty Founders?!” exclaimed Xia Fei in shock. “So the Law Realm originally had forty Founders?! Why have I never heard about this before? Don’t the legends only mention the Thirteen Founders?”
The stranger smiled. “The reason you haven’t heard of them is that all twenty-seven of those who joined the Founders later are all dead, with no exceptions.”
Xia Fei was given another shock, sternly asking, “Law God experts are all immortal, and these Founders are presumably even stronger. How could they die, and who would be powerful enough to kill these experts?”
The stranger sneered and disdainfully asked back, “Immortal? Law Gods are simply reborn through Seeds of Life, and even if they’re reborn, they need many years to recover their cultivation. How’s that any different from death? Also, there are many ways to kill Law Gods. Don’t you possess one such method?”
Xia Fei dropped his head and said nothing. The Law of Primal Chaos and Nirvana were both capable of exterminating Law Gods, so he had two methods of killing Law Gods.
However, Nirvana had been able to reach this state because of the Law of Primal Chaos. If the Law of Primal Chaos had not subverted the attributes of the fiendish blade when the Celestial Zerohammer was used to forge it, it would have never become this all-devouring fiendish blade!
Thus, for the stranger to say that Xia Fei had one method of exterminating Law Gods made a lot of sense. Truly, he had a penetrating insight! Without the mysterious Law of Primal Chaos, he would not have the fiendish blade and would not be the Xia Fei of today!
What confused Xia Fei was that this stranger seemed to know a lot about him! This was rather unbelievable, Xia Fei quietly raised his guard again.
The stranger sighed and spoke in a low voice. “You’re truly the most paranoid person I’ve ever met. Relax. I’ve already said that I won’t hurt you, so I definitely won’t.
“The ones who killed the twenty-seven Founders were none other than their teachers, who had brought them into the Hall of Theogenesis, the first Thirteen Founders. This is why the Law Realm only has Thirteen Founders at present. No one knew that these experts had once nurtured a batch of powerful disciples.”
“Why?” Xia Fei questioned. “Since they had the relationship of master and disciple, the masters must’ve invested vast amounts of time and energy into bring their disciples to the same level. Why would those masters go and kill their disciples?”
The stranger smiled. “You must not underestimate the wicked nature of sapient lifeforms. This world has always been man-eat-man. Let alone master and disciple, even if they were their parents or children, those people would still kill them if they must. The price just needs to be right.”
The stranger spoke of the price theory that Xia Fei had always subscribed to. Every thing and every person had a value.
For example, if a rich old man saw a beauty, but the beauty did not like the rich man, the rich man could utilize his immense resources to engage in a blatant business transaction. One million might not be enough to make the woman yield, but what about ten million? One hundred million? One billion?
Equivalent exchange was one of the laws of the universe!
There was nothing that could not be traded for. Failure was only because the price was not high enough.
“What you’re saying is that the Thirteen Founders killed all twenty-seven of their disciples because someone paid them a high-enough price?” Xia Fei asked.
The stranger coldly chuckled. “It was an incredibly high price! Only thirteen of the forty could survive, so twenty-seven had to be sacrificed.”
Xia Fei finally understood. The Thirteen Founders had ruthlessly killed their disciples because it was a matter of life or death. No one wanted to die, so the somewhat weaker disciples had become sacrificial offerings.
Still, Xia Fei did not understand. Who could have exerted such immense pressure on the Founders that they would fight among one another. After all, the Founders were existences of the highest plane in both the Law Realm and the universe!
Xia Fei sensed that this stranger had intentionally guided him to the Hall of Theogenesis to tell him about the Founders, but who was he? Why was he doing this?
Did he know that the Skywing had pointed their spear at one of the unfathomably powerful Founders?!
