Super Gene Ⅱ: Evolution - Chapter 220:
Chapter 220: Chapter 220: Mutant Dragon Fight
Lin Shen quickly ducked and hid, stealthily peering down.
Before long, he saw a creature slowly rising from the blue lava, surprisingly it was a very strange pterosaur.
Lin Shen had seen many creatures inside the Ring Mountain on this planet, although they varied greatly in appearance, similar to various dinosaurs.
But their bodies were all made of a blue-steel material, this was the similarity.
However, this pterosaur was different, its body was black, and the surface looked largely like a nano-coating, with some blue striped light patterns, those light patterns seemed as if filled with blue lava, the intense blue light was very dazzling.
“Mutated Ascension?” Lin Shen was somewhat surprised, this was his first time seeing a mutated ascended creature.
The Mutated Supersource Pterosaur flew out from the blue lava and landed in a hole in the mountainside, shaking off the blue lava from its body.
Lin Shen looked closely and noticed something strange, he had always thought that the blue inside the mountain was lava, but seeing the blue substance shaken off the pterosaur’s body, it didn’t seem to be lava.
Lava, when cooled, should form volcanic rocks or volcanic ash and such, but the blue liquid shaken off the pterosaur didn’t solidify, instead, it evaporated.
“What exactly is that blue liquid?” Lin Shen regretted not reading more books, his knowledge at a crucial time was completely insufficient.
The Mutated Supersource Pterosaur called out a few times with a very unpleasant sound, swinging its head left and right as if searching for something.
“It’s not looking for those pterosaurs, is it? Too bad I’ve already killed them,” Lin Shen thought to himself.
The Mutated Supersource Pterosaur called out for a while, finally quieting down and lying motionless in the pit, as if it had fallen asleep.
Lin Shen didn’t dare to provoke this Mutated Supersource Pterosaur, even killing ordinary pterosaurs was a strain, it was better not to take the risk.
Just as he was about to sneak away down the mountain, he suddenly heard a splashing sound below, and took another look inside, only to see something rush out from the blue liquid again.
“Another mutation!” Lin Shen saw that the creature crawling out from the blue liquid was a Supersource Triceratops.
Only this Supersource Triceratops’s body was also a black-gray color, covered in blue light patterns, very similar to that mutated Supersource Pterosaur.
Looking at the blue light patterns on their bodies, Lin Shen had a sudden thought, “Could it be that the blue liquid inside the Ring Mountain is actually dragon blood, the blood of these Supersource Dragons?”
The more he thought about it, the more possible it seemed, but it was not in the traditional sense of dragon blood, but rather their Ascension Liquid.
Lin Shen had previously killed pterosaurs, and the Ascension Liquid extracted from their bodies didn’t glow blue, but was a kind of transparent liquid, so he hadn’t thought in this direction.
However, seeing the blue light patterns on these two mutated creatures that matched the color of the liquid, he suddenly realized that the blue liquid in the pool might indeed be their Ascension Liquid.
It’s just that after their deaths, the Ascension Liquid inside their bodies lost its activity, and so it no longer glowed or heated up.
While they were alive, the Ascension Liquid inside their bodies should also light up and heat up.
“This isn’t right either, there’s so much blue liquid in the pool, it’s impossible that so many Supersource Dragon-type Creatures were bled that much…” Lin Shen thought it over and felt something was amiss, but couldn’t figure out what was actually going on.
What puzzled him even more was where these two mutated ascended creatures came from.
Lin Shen had been luring and killing pterosaurs here for most of the night, and during that time, he had not seen these two mutations at all.
Now they had suddenly emerged; could it be that they had been hiding in the green liquid this whole time, or were all these Ring Mountains interconnected underneath?
As he was pondering this, he suddenly heard two strange cries. The previously encountered mutated pterosaurs had discovered the emerging mutated triceratops, took to the sky with beats of their wings, and spat out a curved blade with black ash and green electric light patterns.
The curved blade slashed directly towards the mutated triceratops, which opened its mouth and ejected a black trident with green electric light patterns.
The two Life Bases flew through the air at unbelievable speeds; Lin Shen couldn’t make out their flight paths at all and could only see streaks of black and green lightning constantly flashing and clashing within Ring Mountain.
Lin Shen felt secretly relieved that he hadn’t provoked them.
At such speeds, if the distance wasn’t too great, he wouldn’t even have the chance to retaliate before being killed outright.
Waves of shockwaves exploded within Ring Mountain, and, surprisingly, the mountain proved to be unexpectedly sturdy; it wasn’t destroyed despite the terrifying battle unfolding.
As the rocks on the mountainside continuously crumbled and flaked off, after a while, Lin Shen was astonished to find that what he thought was Ring Mountain seemed not to be a natural mountain at all but rather something man-made, resembling a power plant’s cooling tower.
Below the rocks was a black material, similar to a black ceramic coating.
Lin Shen hadn’t paid attention to this black material before, mistaking it for part of the mountain rock. However, as more of the external rock peeled away, it began to look suspicious.
The black material was very smooth and neat, obviously not of one piece with the outer rocks. The more the outer rocks fell off, the clearer it became that the entire Ring Mountain might be made of this black material.
The battle between the two mutated creatures could only leave some marks or pits on the black material and failed to completely destroy it.
The outer layer of rock, falling into the green liquid, quickly dissolved, eventually vanishing in a puff of green smoke.
“This planet must be much larger than the human’s home planet, and everywhere you look, there are such Ring Mountains. If all these Ring Mountains are man-made, who had the means to construct so many of them on a single planet, and what purpose do they serve? Are they simply to contain these Supersource Dragons?” Lin Shen was full of questions, but for the moment had no answers.
The battle between the two mutated dragons continued, but neither could gain the upper hand.
Life Base clashed with Life Base, and the two Supersource Dragons began a close fight, tearing at each other fiercely, turning the skies dark and the ground dim.
After watching for a while, Lin Shen noticed another issue.
Theoretically, both the triceratops and the pterosaurs could fly, with pterosaurs, due to their dragon wings, being even more adept at it.
But whether it was the triceratops or the pterosaurs, during their battles, they would often dive into the green liquid instead of maintaining continuous flight.
Each time they plunged into the green liquid, the electric light patterns on their bodies would become even more luminous.
This led Lin Shen to a new hypothesis: the green liquid might not be their Ascension Liquid, but it certainly could replenish their energy.
The reason Supersource Dragons couldn’t leave Ring Mountain was not due to any miraculous effect of the mountain itself, but rather it was the energy emitted by the green liquid that protected the dragons from the external environment, preventing them from being harmed by it.
“Could it be that Supersource Dragons are not indigenous to this planet but were brought here from outer space to be corralled?” Lin Shen was increasingly convinced this might be the case.
