Super Gene Ⅱ: Evolution - Chapter 111
Chapter 111: Chapter 111: There Are Monsters
The Minotaur in red saw Lin Shen fire at him and was instantly startled.
Previously, Lin Shen’s connection to fire out five Mutated Crystal Base pets had been quite terrifying.
Now another one was launched, leading him subconsciously to believe it was another Mutated Crystal Base pet. He slightly adjusted the direction of his double-bladed axe’s descent to meet the swiftly flying pet.
What he didn’t expect was that the pet would split in response to the axe, cut in two as if made of paper—a mere steel pet.
But the Minotaur in red no longer had time to be angry about being toyed with, for he saw Lin Shen leap at an equally rapid speed to his side.
This gave the Minotaur in red another scare. A Steel Level, having such speed? Impossible, not even with stimulants.
Without the luxury of further thought, the Minotaur in red burst forth with all energies, roaring as he forcibly changed the direction of his downward-sweeping double-bladed axe to a horizontal slash at Lin Shen.
The Minotaur in red thought grimly, “You’re in midair, without leverage; there’s no way you can dodge this axe. Even if it means taking a bullet, I will cut you in half at the waist. I am of the Crystal Base; your shot at me wouldn’t even break my guard. A useless Steel, I’ll take your life with one axe strike.”
But the next second, the eyes of the Minotaur in red bulged to their limits when he saw Lin Shen, somehow in mid-air, surge upwards again, avoiding his sweeping axe and flipping over him at an even higher speed.
Upside down, with his head below his feet, Lin Shen passed close enough to be head-to-head with the Minotaur in red, reaching out to fiercely press a point on his neck.
Fingers hot as a glowing red iron bar struck heavily against the neck of the Minotaur in red, sparking a shower of sparks like those from a blacksmith’s hammer upon an anvil.
The Minotaur in red was both shocked and furious; this was not an Ascender, and yet he was able to change direction in midair, a feat too bizarre.
However, he then reasoned that even if Lin Shen could hit him, what of it? A lowly Steel Level wouldn’t even be able to break his defense.
But the moment he was touched by Lin Shen, he suddenly felt as if his body was bound by some mystical force, losing all ability to move and frozen in the posture of wielding his axe, plummeting straight down.
After sealing the acupoint of the Minotaur in red, Lin Shen didn’t wait to land and fired at another battling Crystal Base Minotaur, while with one foot stepping on the other, he propelled himself forward like a bullet.
The other Crystal Base Minotaur, seeing their deputy legion commander floored by a direct touch from that Steel Level human, was thrown into disarray.
In his panic, he dodged the swiftly incoming pet, but he couldn’t handle Lin Shen who had rapidly reached above his head.
With ease, Lin Shen touched a point on him too, sealing his acupoint, then fired and dashed forward again.
The remaining Crystal Base Minotaur was petrified with fear—Lin Shen, feet never touching the ground, had downed the deputy legion commander and a Crystal Base Warrior with mere touches, making him wonder if Lin Shen was somehow an Ascender.
No Base Variant Creature should be capable of such feats; it was as if he could fly.
Eventually, the scared Crystal Base Minotaur was touched by Lin Shen at his acupoint and stood frozen, unable to move.
Lin Shen quickly took the Pet Launchers from all of them. All the pets came to a halt, turning to face Lin Shen, their new master.
“Thank you, Tie, for the gifts,” Lin Shen felt an urge to bow in gratitude to the Minotaur. Five Crystal Base Minotaurs, five Pet Launchers—it was a windfall.
Apart from the Pet Launchers and the pets inside, Lin Shen was even more interested in their helmets and clothing.
Clothes that could permeate Base Mutation substances without damage were far too convenient.
The helmet seemed to have a unique function as well; it was that helmet which had allowed Augustman to spot him lying on the grassy slope.
“I ask, and you answer. Answer well, and you live; answer poorly, and you die,” Lin Shen walked up to the Minotaur in red, pointing Death Powder at him as he spoke.
“Just kill me,” the Minotaur in red still had plenty of fight, ready to die rather than submit.
“Good, I always like tough guys,” Lin Shen went straight for the red-clad Minotaur’s waist with a stab.
With lightning speed and armor-piercing thrusts, he managed to penetrate the Minotaur’s carapace and into the flesh of his waist.
The red Minotaur’s carapace was as hard as a Mutated Crystal Base, and thicker than that of an average person. Even with that stab, only a few inches penetrated, not enough to go all the way through.
But it didn’t matter. Lin Shen pulled out the Death Powder and looked at the red Minotaur again, asking, “How about now?”
“Trash humans, don’t even dream of it. Great Ultra-Burn Warriors will never bow to a garbage species like humans,” the red Minotaur bellowed defiantly with his neck stubbornly outstretched.
“I’m growing fonder of you by the minute,” Lin Shen said, not angry in the slightest, smiling at the red Minotaur.
The red Minotaur continued to curse vehemently, but Lin Shen was not upset, simply watching him in silence.
Gradually, the Minotaur’s cursing subsided, and a look of horror began to spread across his face.
“What… what have you done to me…” the Minotaur felt something amiss with his body. After the acupoint sealing, he couldn’t move, but he could still feel the flow of strength within him.
But now, he felt as if the strength inside him had solidified, his brain not working properly, almost turning stiff like petrification.
Lin Shen watched as the Minotaur’s entire body stiffened with Base Mutation Fluid solidifying into a solid and the Minotaur completely lost vitality, transforming into a lifeless Crystal Base statue.
The remaining Minotaurs looked at Lin Shen as if he were a monster.
“You, make a choice. Do you want to die in agony like them, or become an immortal statue like this one? I suggest you choose the latter, the world will remember your towering figure,” Lin Shen said, glancing at the two Crystal Base Minotaurs on the ground who were about to die in agony.
“I… as an Ultra-Burn Warrior… will never be enslaved…” the Crystal Base Minotaur declared through gritted teeth.
Without a word, Lin Shen commanded the Mutated Black Armored Centipede to bite down, and waves of intense pain began to wash over him.
Initially, the Minotaur endured the pain with clenched teeth, but after not long, he could not bear it any longer and let out a heart-wrenching howl.
“How about you? Will you choose for yourself, or shall I make the choice for you?” Lin Shen turned to the last Minotaur.
“I… what do you want to know…” the Minotaur asked, trembling.
“My question is quite simple,” Lin Shen said with a smile creeping at the corner of his mouth.
He didn’t ask for any secrets, only about how many of the Ultra-Burn Tribe had come, their levels, and how they got here.
Also, he asked about the uses of their equipment and how to operate it.
This Minotaur was quite cooperative and fully disclosed everything Lin Shen asked about.
After listening, Lin Shen felt both shocked and pleasantly surprised. From Augustman, he already knew that the Ultra-Burn Tribe had brought thirty thousand warriors, and what terrified him was that three thousand of them were Crystal Base while the rest were Alloy.
According to the Minotaur, the Steel Level didn’t even qualify as Ultra-Burn Warriors.
The good news was that the Minotaur mentioned the teleporter couldn’t transport Ascenders, admitting only Mutators into this place.
That meant that, although the Ultra-Burn Tribe had many warriors, even their strongest legion commander was just a Crystal Base, which offered a tactical advantage for Lin Shen.
As long as no Ascenders were present, Lin Shen was not particularly afraid; even if he couldn’t win, he had the capability to escape.
What thrilled Lin Shen the most was their array of devices.
