S-Class Dungeon’s Mistress - Chapter 99
Chapter 99
***
Hwa.
“What. He ran away.”
“Tsk, tsk. Irresponsible guy.” Caladium clicked his tongue and muttered.
“He can’t take responsibility for what he did? The more I see him, the less I like him.” He shook his head with a displeased face.
“Adele. Are you okay?”
Lisianthus came to Adelaide’s side and spoke in a friendly voice.
“Caladium acted recklessly. I should have stopped him, I’m sorry.”
He quickly changed his attitude after being satisfied. Caladium opened his mouth wide in disbelief. ‘I even got goosebumps when you smiled! This opportunistic j*rk.’ Curses ran up his throat.
“No, it’s fine. It’s for the better. I didn’t want to shock Lupin, but… thinking back on it, I think it’s more appropriate to disclose everything like this rather than hide it as I wanted. Thanks for telling him instead, Caladi.”
Unexpectedly, Adelaide thanked him instead of blaming him. The simple Caladium quickly felt better and burst into laughter.
“Hmm, hmm. Well, this is nothing.”
“Then what are you going to do now?”
Caladium pretended it was nothing and wanted to show off a little more, but Lisianthus, who did not like the atmosphere in which he was praised, quickly changed the topic.
“First… Should I give him time to think?”
Adelaide, who was silent for a moment, answered. Seeing that he disappeared so quickly as if he was running away, it seemed that Lupinus’ mind was too complicated right now. She couldn’t force a conversation with a person in such a state. It was better to wait until they came first.
“What if he doesn’t come?”
“He might not come because he’s embarrassed.” Caladium added, shrugging his shoulders.
If it were him, he wouldn’t want to show his face again after everything he had done until now.
“That decision is also Lupin’s choice, so I have to respect it…”
Adelaide quietly bit her lips. Suddenly this thought came to mind. Was it really respectful to just wait for him to come? At the same time, Lupinus’ passionate voice resonated in her ears.
-“You should have come to me. Don’t you think so, Adela? That was the promise.”
She held her breath for a moment. Promise. Lupinus had mentioned the word with fierce and sad eyes.
-“Until this happened, you never came to see me?”
And several others. He was most resentful that she did not come to him.
Adelaide quietly clenched her fists. Then she raised her head and stared into the distance.
“I’m going to visit him first.”
*
Peaceful days followed. As Caladium predicted, Lupin did not visit Greenville again. It wasn’t clear whether it was because he was shy or for some other reason, but he definitely didn’t want to talk to Adelaide further.
However, the three demons had a leisurely time eating and sleeping in Greenville because they could not immediately bring back the other members or receive warriors to fight.
Caladium even wanted to stay by her side until she slept, but this could not be done because of Lisianthus’ interference.
“Adela, let’s sleep together. Just hold my hand and sleep, huh?”
When Caladium tried to seduce her using his handsome looks as a weapon, Lisianthus stood in the way before Adelaide could answer. Knowing that she was weak against his face, he covered him up altogether.
This however did not mean that Lisianthus remained silent. He attended Adelaide with a laid-back and gentle demeanor. He waited for an opportunity and whenever he saw one, he seized it.
“You look tired. Adele, can I give you a massage? Oh, a good perfume has just arrived.”
Of course, Caladium also intervened without missing a beat.
“This p*rverted b*stard…! Massage? Are you out of your mind?”
“You are overreacting. Because your head is full of filthy thoughts… I’m not as lowly as you.”
“B*llsh*t! Just looking at your face I can tell, you have p*rverted little eyes!”
“Are you describing yourself right now?”
Adelaide watched their quarrel with interest.
Lisianthus, who always maintained a calm and elegant appearance, had a lot of fun teasing Caladium who was incredibly childish.
Unfortunately, she couldn’t just let the fight go on for her own interest, so Adelaide intervened after watching them satisfactorily.
“Stop, stop. Then let’s do it like this. Lisian will massage me, and Caladi can sleep with me. But I’m feeling a little lazy today, so next time.”
It was very effective. Lisianthus and Caladium both shut their mouths immediately. With very odd expressions at that. The joy of getting what they wanted but also the dissatisfaction from what the other guy got crossed their minds.
However, they were unable to say anything because they feared that if they recklessly brought up their complaints, even what they had gained would disappear.
It had been three days since Lupinus came.
Adelaide could not wait any longer and made a decision.
“I should go to Mediar.”
“I will go with you.”
Lisianthus and Caladium quickly followed. Adelaide nodded her head because they would have followed anyway even if she refused.
“Okay. I’ll just wear the warrior clothes I bought last time.”
It was embarrassing because it was so revealing, but there was no other way. However, Lisianthus was the type of devil who created a way if there was no other way.
“I knew this would happen so I prepared it in advance.”
He handed her neatly folded clothes. Adelaide’s eyes widened as she unfolded them. It was an attire that a human wizard would wear, but there was much less exposure than before. Lisianthus made it for her.
She was glad there was no checkered pattern like his scarf or handkerchief. Adelaide was relieved about that more than anything else. However, she soon noticed that the cloak had a black checkered lining, then gave an exasperated look. Lisian was really serious about the checkered pattern. She lamented.
“Hahaha…Thank you, Lisian.”
“You’re welcome.”
When Adelaide hid her pity and thanked him, Lisianthus smiled very proudly. He seemed very satisfied with the clothes he had made. Or maybe he really liked wearing checkered clothes.
Concealing her embarrassment, she entered her room and changed into the clothes. She found that they were definitely more comfortable than the ones she bought last time. The quality of the fabric was much better, and there was less exposure, so she was able to move freely.
Lisianthus and Caladium also changed their clothes and they soon left. Adelaide saw them dressed up beautifully and thought that it would be a shame to kill them if they had been warriors.
“Then let’s go.”
At Adelaide’s declaration of departure, the two demons dressed as warriors quietly nodded their heads.
After riding the portal, they arrived in Mediar immediately. Perhaps because it was their second time wearing a disguise, Lisianthus and Caladium blended in with people more naturally than before. Adelaide took the lead and broke through the crowd.
After passing the crowded square, they walked for a long time down an alley that was less frequented by humans and entered a forest. The forest, which was densely lined with beautiful cypress trees, seemed to have not been visited by people for a long time. Only the fresh wind tickled the thick trees they passed.
Adelaide stepped forward carefully through the densely tangled branches. With every step she took, her heart raced. It has been 30 years, but this road was still beautiful in her eyes. The memories of her happily walking down the street in anticipation of meeting Lupinus were ingrained in each tree.
As she passed through the forest and the last tree, she involuntarily took a deep breath. The log cabin that she had long missed and feared at the same time has finally appeared.
“He’s inside.”
Caladium said, removing the leaves on Adelaide’s head. Adelaide nodded her head. She could feel him too.
Lupinus was really in that house.
She came here just in case, but she didn’t know he would really be here. She swallowed her saliva.
“You two stay here.”
Adelaide firmly ordered. Lisianthus and Caladium nodded their heads with bitter expressions. It was annoying to leave the two alone [Adelaide & Lupinus], but if the warrior had a different intention, then the distance was enough to intervene quickly. And the warrior would not attack Adelaide. It was the devils’ instinct.
Squeak.
With the two devils behind her, she pushed the old wooden door. The door opened gently like it had been greased recently. Adelaide entered the house nervously. What if the blood was still there?
Eventually, what she saw was the cabin from 30 years ago where she and the boy lived a simple and pleasant daily life. The furniture was a bit old, but still in good shape, even the blankets they used were the same.
Not a single drop of blood that had stained the entire living room in the past remained. It made her wonder if all of those terrible things were a dream. Someone must have wiped all the blood and maintained it consistently. Someone sitting on the bed across from her was wallowing.
“Lupin.”
Adelaide slowly called out his name.
Lupin slowly lifted his head and stared at her. Contrary to the well-maintained house, his hair was messy. He had the same golden hair just like in his childhood. The strong scent wafted in the air.
As the legendary warrior, there was no way he could not have felt Adelaide had arrived. Perhaps he noticed it from the moment they entered the forest. Still, his eyes widened as if he could not believe that Adelaide existed. Enlarged eyes fluttered incessantly.
He was silent and spoke slowly.
“You, why…”
‘Why did you come here?’ Lupinus exhaled a shallow breath.
Complex emotions surged up and he couldn’t even spit out all of his words.
Adelaide replied with a faint smile on her lips.
“I’m here to keep my promise, even if it’s late.”
With careful movement, she approached him step by step as if she was dealing with a wild animal. Lupin, on the other hand, did not move and his body was firmly fixed. He didn’t even try to grab the sword he had thrown on the table. He just looked at Adelaide from afar.
“I’m sorry, Lupin.”
All of a sudden, Adelaide, who was all the way in front of him, bent her upper body to meet his eye level.
“I came too late.”
