S-Class Dungeon’s Mistress - Chapter 29
Adelaide stared at the adventurer’s head as it rolled under the bed. Then, she turned her gaze and stared at Caladium. Contrary to Caladium’s expected surprise or anger, she only blinked with a blank expression on her face.
Caladium, frustrated by this, was about to rush her for an answer, but only then did her late response burst out.
“Oh, Caladium?! How did you get here?”
The foolish reaction was very much like Adelaide. Caladium felt like he was running out of breath for a moment, but he struggled to calm his heart and answered in a cool voice.
“I followed you.”
“But I didn’t feel anything at all? A devil is indeed different…”
Adelaide forgot the situation and admired him. Even though he was near her, she had no idea. The devil was indeed the devil.
And look at that clean slice. The bright red cut on the faded adventurer’s neck was so flat that you could even say it was cut by a huge axe.
“Are you sure you hit it with your hand? How awesome…”
Adelaide crawled over the bed and walked towards Caladium. And with a bright face, she looked at the fingers on his hand.
‘F*ck, acting cute again…’
Caladium bit his lower lip when he saw Adelaide holding his right hand with both her hands while she looked at them with amazed eyes.
It was evident that when he saw the young impudent adventurer on top of her, who was completely worthless compared to himself, his eyes flipped in anger. But when he met Adelaide face to face and heard her voice, his anger subsided in an instant.
“So, what is the answer?”
He asked, pulling his right hand away. His voice was harsh, but on the other hand, his movements were cautious, lest she might get hurt.
Adelaide blinked expressionlessly and looked back at what his question was.
[If not. Do you like this kind of b*stard?]
D*rn it. Adelaide just realized her situation. As much as possible, she had hoped Lisianthus and Caladium would not find out that she regularly needed energy but now, she was caught in the act.
Adelaide’s lips remained closed as she was unable to speak. Caladium was dense, so maybe she can gloss over it. She thought this and deliberately pretended not to know anything.
“Hehe, that’s right. He’s just my cup of tea!”
“…What?”
Caladium asked after a while. It was a completely unexpected answer.
Adelaide smiled mischievously, not knowing what he was thinking.
“You’re right he’s to my taste. Isn’t he cool?”
“Did you hurt your eyes? F*ck, What’s so cool about him? He looks like a dried squid!”
Caladium groaned and pointed to the adventurer’s head.
He wanted to grab the head’s hair and compare it to his perfect appearance, but unfortunately, it was almost gone and he couldn’t touch it.
“Blonde and blue eyes are great! I like those.”
Huh, Caladium smirked instead of answering. If you only like blonde hair, it’s hard to get bored of your taste. For some reason, it felt like the anger that had subsided earlier was rising again. His throat was hot as if he had swallowed a fireball.
‘It’s because Adela is being so ridiculous. That’s why I’m annoyed.’
Caladium convinced himself and quickly hugged her.
“Hey!”
“Go home since you’re talking b*llsh*t. Go to your room and get some sleep!”
Adelaide struggled for a moment at Caladium’s actions, who lifted her up like a sack, and then regained her composure.
This position was also quite comfortable. Except she felt like her a$$ was going to fall off. Adelaide glanced at him and asked in a gentle voice.
“Hey, Caladi. If I’m going to be in this position, can you support my bu++ a little more?”
“This crazy woman……!”
And then she had to hear a lot of scolding from Caladium.
“You can make a request like this between colleagues who live in the same dungeon, but it’s still rude.”, Adelaide heard his nagging in one ear and murmurs in the other.
In any case, fortunately, she was not caught with an ‘Empty Stomach’. If it was Lisianthus who saw the scene, it wouldn’t be much of a problem. In the first place, the kind Lisianthus wouldn’t have followed her.
‘Since there’s still a little time left. I can come back tomorrow. I’m so glad Caladi is st*pid-!’
Adelaide buried her face upside down on his back and closed her eyes.
**********
However, Caladium was a demon with more brains than what Adelaide had thought.
The next day, as the sun was setting and the sky was getting dark, Adelaide looked around and cautiously walked out of her room. The destination was the portal to Mediar, and it was only a 5 minute walk since the dungeon wasn’t that big yet.
‘I’m going to eat a lot today just in case.’
Yesterday, she couldn’t eat properly, so her hunger got worse. It wasn’t very painful, but she had a slight stomach ache.
“Yeah, hmm hmm hmm~.”
The thought of filling her hungry stomach made her hum. But when she realized it was time for everyone to sleep, she quickly bit her tongue.
But before she could take a few more steps, she heard a different sound in her ear.
“Why are you so excited?”
It was the sharply subdued voice of Caladium.
“Shut up…!”
Adelaide screamed in shock as if she had seen a ghost. Fortunately, the moment the scream started, Caladium closed his mouth, so he did not wake the other demons.
Tak! Adelaide took off Caladium’s hand and asked.
“What are you doing here?”
“That’s what I want to ask. Where is my ambitious Master going this late at night?”
“Where are you going that you’re humming so excitedly?” Caladium smiled bitterly and added. Adelaide only snorted and didn’t answer.
Her eyes trembled with irritation. Adelaide worked her brain hard to come up with the best answer.
“I was just going out for a walk!”
“Okay? Then, let’s go together.”
However, it was too weak of an answer, considering that she thought hard about it. Adelaide screamed at the unexpected words.
“What? Why! We’re not that close!”
“This is upsetting. Was I the only one who thought we were close? Then let’s get closer together, Adela.”
Caladium smirked and placed his arm over Adelaide’s shoulder. In response, Adelaide no longer made excuses and went for a walk with him. Tears were shed in her heart as she starved for another day.
‘Tomorrow, tomorrow I can go…! Don’t tell me you’ll be like this again tomorrow.’
And then again, she hit the mark.
The next night, despite Adelaide intentionally arriving two hours later, Caladium was still standing on the way to the portal. It was clear that he had heard and followed her footsteps.
Seeing Adelaide, Caladium smiled languidly, while Adelaide’s expression was twisted.
Her patience had long since disappeared due to the consistent hunger. As her pain worsened, so did her personality.
.
“Hello, Master?”
“Good-bye, f*ck, Caladi, get out of the way!”
‘I have to go out today!’ Adelaide’s pink eyes flared up.
There should be no further delay. Because she hasn’t had a regular intake for two days, her hunger has become quite severe.
A burning pain slowly rose to her skin, and her head felt dizzy. If she does not consume energy today, she might lose her sense of reason.
“And what if I move? Will you meet another young adventurer like last time?”
“It doesn’t matter whether I meet one or not! Are you jealous?!”
Caladium’s relaxed face immediately hardened. He hesitated for a moment, and then, with his cheeks stained red, he roared.
“Jealous? Me? Jealous? Who’s jealous! Don’t talk nonsense!”
Caladium soon regretted what he had said.
I’m repeating my words like an id*ot. If anyone saw it, they’ll think that I’m really jealous! He tightened his clenched fist and avoided her gaze.
“Excessive denial means it’s the truth… .”
“Hey! Do I look like I have low standards? I don’t care about you!”
“You don’t? Doesn’t look like it! You sound like a jealous girlfriend!”
Adelaide nodded vigorously.
Somehow, when she talked to him, she felt like the conversation became more and more like a childish quarrel. No, she felt that way, not just the truth. She had to be patient with a high-level demon! She thought so and lowered her voice.
“If you’re not jealous, why won’t you let me out? Why do you keep blocking the way?”
“That’s…….”
Silver-gray eyes rolled.
Caladium didn’t know either. Why was he so concerned and annoyed whether she goes out or not? Without knowing why, his mouth moved first.
“I’m afraid that rumors of our dungeon are going to go bad, I’m doing this because I’m concerned about that!”
“Since when have you been so worried about the dungeon…”
Adelaide stopped grumbling and shut up. It wasn’t that she had nothing more to say. She wanted to argue some more, but she couldn’t open my mouth.
This was because the terrible pain from the ‘Empty stomach’ began.
“Gasp…….”
“What’s wrong with you?”
Adelaide stumbled and fell to the floor. She was so dizzy she could no longer stand.
Her arms and legs hurt like they were burning. A familiar heat spread from her stomach.
Caladium quickly ran and supported her. His childish expression was gone and his handsome face was full of worry.
“I told you, get out of the way. You son of a b*tch…”
Adelaide gasped, grabbing his collar hard.
“Why, what’s happening? Are you okay? Adela!”
Caladium does not seem to know what was happening yet. She didn’t know whether he was innocent or naive. Adelaide thought he was pretty good in spite of his groaning.
Now that it has come to this, she couldn’t hide it anymore. Adelaide finally confessed the truth, feeling sorry for the situation in which her efforts were ruined.
“I don’t have enough energy. That’s why I’m sick.”
“……Huh?”
“So, I’m going out to eat adventurers. Take me. I’m weak.”
She didn’t care if Caladium was embarrassed or not, then wore a straightforward expression. There was no energy left for her to be considerate of him now.
Adelaide and Caladium’s eyes met in the dark. Pink eyes, resembling summer roses, clouded with pain, while silver-gray eyes fluttered with unknown desire.
The moment Adelaide was about to urge Caladium, who was frozen, his voice, which had become particularly low, continued.
“Why do you have to go out?”
Huh? Adelaide forgot the pain for a moment and looked at him blankly.
All of a sudden, Caladium’s face was very close.
“Don’t touch those f*ck*ng b*st*rds.”
‘F*ck, this is jealousy.’
Caladium finally admitted it.
“Eat me.”
