S-Class Dungeon’s Mistress - Chapter 152
Chapter 152
When they (A&C) met again, Caladium’s face somehow didn’t look very good, and it must have been because of this woman. Adelaide looked at the picture, biting the inside of her lip.
“……Oh, I remember. You’re mistaken, Adelaide. I went to Casa del Sol to check the business under Miss Uriel’s instructions. Miss Uriel is the type of person who investigates other dungeons very thoroughly.”
Ellie patted her hand, saying she never went because she wanted to. Then she pointed to the picture, and added quickly.
“And this scene, I was grabbing his collar to make sure it was Caladium. I was surprised to find out that the devil who I thought was dead was still alive, so I tried to look at his face. Was the next scene not included in the picture? Caladium threw me down right away and my bones were broken—”
“Do you tend to talk a lot when you’re flustered? It’s still ugly to look at, so stop it now. Like I said, I already know what you did.”
When Adelaide interrupted Ellie and said that, her cute face hardened. Adelaide didn’t miss the chance and spoke decisively.
“It was you. You betrayed Caladi and opened the gates of Helheim to Abaddon.”
This was exactly what was written in the document Lisianthus handed over last night.
One hundred years ago, the reason Caladium was defeated by Abaddon was not simply because he was weaker than Abaddon. The demons living with him betrayed him and set him into a trap.
Someone poisoned him, and someone secretly opened the door to Helheim. Having fought Abaddon in a cornered state, Caladium lost one of his horns without even having time to despair that the demons he trusted had betrayed him.
He squeezed the last of his strength and barely escaped. It was probably Boraca who found him in a state where he didn’t even have the energy to stand up. And after that, Caladium had to spend a hundred years trapped in that p*rvert’s dungeon.
The demon who spilled all these stories was none other than Mitchell. Up until the time he died by Caladium’s hands, he reportedly walked in and out of taverns, telling the tales about the fall of the old ruler. He had no guilt or regret for what he had done.
“Why?”
Adelaide’s voice trembled faintly. When she thought of Caladium, who must have gone through immense pain and hardship, her anger swelled up. But she didn’t cry. Because she couldn’t show her tears in front of Ellie now.
“To Caladi, why in the world did you do that?”
However, the corners of Ellie’s eyes gradually turned red, and soon tears flowed down her white cheeks, drop by drop. Adelaide clenched her teeth even more when she saw her like that.
“That, really…… I couldn’t help it. Abaddon threatened to kill me if I didn’t, but I really couldn’t help it…….”
Ellie shed tears seemingly overwhelmed with sadness. But she soon raised her voice as if she had been falsely accused.
“But Caladium assaulted me first before that!”
“Really?”
She had no other words for the one who felt wronged. Adelaide, who mumbled harshly, rose from her seat. Then she ripped off Ellie’s top so fast that there was no time to stop her.
“Kyaak! What are you……!”
Ellie was startled and covered herself with her hands. A large scar was revealed between the gap of her fingers.
“A scar.”
As Adelaide mumbled softly, Ellie looked down at herself nervously. Traces of burns and lacerations filled her white skin.
However, the location was subtly different from what she saw before.
“Why does it look different from last time, Ellie?”
She must have been in a hurry to make it and forgot exactly what it looked like. Adelaide added with a smirk on her face.
A brief silence passed. Ellie looked at her scar with a blank expression.
“Puha.”
And soon a bright smile appeared on her lips.
“Wow, you’re a lot smarter than I thought.”
Ellie smiled and clapped her hands. Her face was so bright that it seemed as if she was genuinely praising Adelaide.
Seeing her smile with her mouth wide open enough to tear, Adelaide’s arm got goosebumps. The tears she had just shed, had not even dried up on her cheeks yet.
She changed her attitude in an instant and laughed, more devilish than Caladium or Lisianthus.
“Yeah, I’ve never actually been hit.”
Ellie said playfully and removed her hand that covered her body. Then the scars on her skin began to move around, and soon all vanished cleanly.
“I’m not the type who gets hit anywhere.”
She winked one eye as she flashed a smile. Somehow, she looked pleased because she could quit her annoying acting.
To the extent that she tried to trick her, she never expected Ellie to suddenly admit her guilt and apologize in the first place. Still, she didn’t imagine that she would blatantly come clean like this. Adelaide shuddered at her brutality.
“Oh, and I think you misunderstood. It wasn’t just me who betrayed him, it was all the demons who lived with him. It is also true that Abaddon threatened me. Well, since it has become like this, let me tell you the true story.”
Ellie relaxedly fixed her torn clothes and sipped her tea in a nonchalant manner. The rim around her eyes that were red before had calmed down, and her tears disappeared leaving only traces.
“Caladium was a good owner. He was a show-off, but he’s a devil and every demon out there is like that. He also treated the demons he lived with quite well. He was so happy even the day before he was beaten by Abaddon. Thinking about it now, it was really pitiful.”
“You……!”
“Mitchell put poison in Caladium’s food ahead of time. That poison was extremely hard to find and it was the kind Abaddon who obtained it for us. Then the ignorant Caladium b*st*rd said it was delicious and ate it all up. I quickly opened the door to Helheim when he fell.”
Anger rose to the top of her head. Adelaide felt intense murderous intent that she wanted to slaughter her to pieces right away. She hated the woman in front of her even more than Shavarma.
I want to kill her. I want to kill this b*tch and get rid of her right now.
The urge continued to grow, but Adelaide managed to endure it. She still had a story to listen to.
“Why.”
“Huh?”
“Why did you betray Caladi? Why did you lie to me?”
The end of her voice cracked menacingly.
How angry Caladium must have been when he sensed Ellie’s aura on her? She was unaware of the truth, and she recalled Ellie’s advice in front of him, and felt pathetic that she couldn’t stand it. Adelaide gasped for breath as the guilt rushed in.
“That, because, like I said, I was threatened? To be precise, it was half intimidation, half conciliation. If we poison Caladium and open Helheim’s door in between, they won’t kill us, and we can take all the treasures there. By the way, I wasn’t really interested in the treasures. That j*rk Mitchell was so excited that he took all of it.”
So he was caught by the tail and got killed. Ellie clicked her tongue.
“That day, what did you say to Caladium when you grabbed him?”
“Huh? Didn’t you say you knew all about it?”
Adelaide flinched and trembled. It was actually a bluff, and she didn’t know exactly what they talked about.
“Say it with your own mouth!”
“Oh, you must have been lying? You have an unexpectedly cunning side. Well, it was obvious.”
She drank tea again. Adelaide felt her rage surge as she kept drinking leisurely without grasping the situation.
“I had no choice.”.
Ellie smiled softly and whispered.
“That’s the fate of the weak. I had to struggle in order to survive.”
“What……?”
“The funny thing is, he didn’t kill me when I brought it up again. He had always been st*pid. Anyway, that was how he got betrayed. Oh, and you asked why I lied to you? The reason why I said that to the cute Adelaide…… I just thought it would be fun. If his new friend eventually betrays him, how will Caladium react? I was curious.”
She couldn’t take it anymore.
Her strings of reason snapped. Adelaide couldn’t take it any longer and threw her fist at Ellie. She didn’t even bother to pull out her weapon.
Her unrefined demonic energy flared towards Ellie. Since Adelaide had risen to the rank of a high-level demon, her simple punch had become different from her previous ones. She was so powerful that simply touching low-level demons would cost them their lives.
“I told you.”
However, Ellie, who had been severely wounded by Shavarma’s demonic sword, seemed to be fine as the ferocious energy poured on her. She leisurely grabbed Adelaide’s wrist. Gently turning her body to avoid it was a movement that a low-level or mid-level demon could never do.
“I’m not the type to get hit anywhere.”
Despite the unexpected twist, Adelaide wasn’t too surprised either. She naturally grabbed her (E) wrist, and then extended her other hand and hit Ellie’s chin.
She had already expected that Ellie was hiding her powers. This is because the ability to freely create and remove her scars was something that even mid-level demons could not do. From what she heard, it seems that Uriel was giving her orders as well, so she must be at least the level of an executive in the Los Halde Dungeon.
“Keuk……!”
Ellie quickly tried to step away from her, but it was not easy as her wrist was caught. Adelaide quickly dug into her arms and grabbed her by the collar with her uncaught hand. As she gently bent her waist, Ellie’s slender body quickly flew into the sky.
Thud!
Adelaide threw Ellie down on the floor. Their table shook and her cup full of ice fell and spilled its contents on Ellie’s face. Tak, tak. Coffee dripped from her pink hair.
“I think you’re the one misunderstanding something.”
Adelaide opened her mouth, coldly looking down at Ellie who was lying on the floor.
“There is a difference between being weak and being evil. And you are obviously the latter.”
She was once weaker than anyone else, so it was something she could confidently say. Though she was a weak demon, she never betrayed her friends. Even if she had to be servile or risk and give up her life, she could never do it.
