Zach closed the door and walked to the front yard, which was filled with very cheerful noises not too long ago. The street lamp stretched Zach’s shadow. He did not step into the private land of others, but walked along the wooden fence to the side of the house. His pale fingers moved along the fence, causing the sound of friction, tickling the creatures hidden in the shadows.
The vampire’s fangs slowly extended, piercing the air to announce that the master of night was about to appear.
Two shapeshifters, one Shadow Being. Zach gently pressed his fingers against the protruding fangs, puncturing the skin, and a drop of red blood condensed on his fingers.
‘It’s better to deal with that shadow being first, least it would possess other people’s bodies.’ Zach thought, after all, looking at the staggering body, once the Shadow Being got out of the host, it was a bit hard to discover it.
“Sir, do you need help?” Zach smiled and hugged the slowly moving homeless man, the blood-stained hand inadvertently pressed against the homeless man’s waist, and his sharp fingertips pierced the homeless man’s dirty and worn coat, his fragile skin and muscles were directly pierced through, and the blood of the vampire was sent into the body of the homeless man!
“You! you…”
The head of the homeless man tilted, the vampire’s curved lips and cold sharp fangs were printed in his dirty pupils. The black colour rolled violently in his eyes.
Zach pressed the other hand on the open mouth of the homeless man: “No, no, you, stay inside. Don’t think about getting out, if you possessed someone else and escaped, I would be very upset.”
The black colour in the eyes of the homeless man rolled more intensely! But his body was firmly fixed by the vampire! The neck where the blue tendon swelled, constantly squirming and bulging, as if something trapped inside it, wanted to break out!
“I think this body should thank you.” Zach’s hands restrained the struggling homeless man, but his eyes drifted to the two men covered in hood between the dwellings, “If you hadn’t possessed him, maybe he would have been dead by now. Do you know why ghosts always think they are more noble than you, shadow beings? Because of this, you can only possess a dying person.”
Two hooded men who were hiding by the window and spying on the scene inside the house had noticed the strangeness of the homeless man, and they stared at them cautiously.
Zach smiled at them and continued to say to something in the body of the homeless man: “This is really a lucky man. A Shadow Being continued his life for a few days, then he met me again and got the vampire blood that can cure everything.”
The two shapeshifters seemed to have heard Zach’s self-talk. They looked at each other in surprise, and turned back and moved into the darkness.
“Alas,” Zach sighed sadly: “Why run away? After encountering an opponent who is stronger, running away will never have a good result.”
The struggle of the homeless man in Zach’s arms gradually weakened, and the black colour in his eyes gradually faded away. As if the vampire finally remembered it, he looked back at the person in his arms: “Sorry, I was a little distracted just now. Where were we? Oh right, you see, the person you possess now is a completely healthy human being, and we all know how it is going to end. So, farewell.”
Black colour completely disappeared, revealing a pair of confused blue eyes.
Zach completely loosened his arms around the homeless man and patted the dirtied clothes. The red eyes turned to the homeless man, “Sir! Even if it is spring, you still need to wear more clothes. Otherwise, you will still be frozen to death, remember?”
“Mhm.” The homeless man with confused eyes nodded to Zach.
“Okay, now leave here and find a place to take a bath! You stink!” Zach frowned.
“Okay, wear more clothes and take a bath.” The homeless nodded blankly and turned around to leave.
Zach looked at a large smudge of unknown things in front of him and shook his head. The vampire didn’t like dirtiness, he decided to vent his discomfort on two shapeshifters!
The shadow stretched by the street lamp suddenly disappeared, and the sound of the clothing corner flapping on the wooden fence was repelled by the lighted house in the street.
Like a ghost, Zach appeared behind a shapeshifter, his right hand extended flat, and the fingertips of his four fingers pressed against the neck of the shapeshifter.
Puff!
Four sharp, blood-stained fingernails pierce the chin of the shapeshifter directly, and the red eyes of the vampire were like two ghosts in the night!
Zach’s right hand moved sideways, his arms swung across horizontally ninety degrees. Beheading, one of the omnipotent killing methods discovered by humans in the Middle Ages.
Blood stains were thrown out, but under the night, no one could see the color of the splashed liquid!
Another rapid footstep stopped suddenly! The noise of an object falling on the ground sounded, and the friction between the soles and clothing and the cold ground appapered, “No! Please no! We didn’t know that this city is a place for vampires! We just came here! ”
“We?” The sharp nails on Zach’s fingers contracted, and a handkerchief was pulled out of his pocket to wipe off the blood from the fingertips. The shapeshifters were cold-blooded animals, Zach didn’t like them. He asked flatly: “Who are we?”
“We, we…” The shapeshifter seemed more panicked: “We are nothing! We are nobody! I’m begging you! I will tell everyone that this is your place! We leave now! ”
“Tell everyone? Then leave? “Zach’s wiping stopped.
“Yes! Yes! I will tell everyone! This is vampires’ city! We will leave! Not a single one will stay!” The shapeshifter seemed to have found a chance to survive, no longer backing up. He quickly sat up and then prostrated himself in front of Zach.
Zach looked down at the reptile on the ground: “how many is everyone?”
“I, I only know about a dozen…” The shapeshifter said tremblingly.
Zach paused for a while, looking at the full moon in the east, “If I let you go, you can only take a dozen people away?”
The shapeshifter hurriedly said: “No, no! I can spread the news and let everyone know that you are here! Everyone will leave automatically! ”
“Hmmm…” Zach squatted down, raised the shapeshifter’s chin with four fingers, and looked at the nervous shapeshifter with a smile: “You are a smart guy. but…”
The hope that had just emerged in the eyes of the shapeshifter froze in Zach’s disappearing smile.
The vampire repeated the previous action, and the handkerchief on the left hand covered the fingertips of the right hand again.
The education Zach received was an ancient noble education, so he knew that when he was talking to people, he must look into their eyes. So, Zach turned his head, looked at the head that had already fallen aside, and said to the eyes that still had a faint of hope froze inside: “However, I don’t want anyone to know that I am here.”
Now, we also know why Zach lied to James in front of Anthony. Because ‘Rance’. Because James Rance’s surname connected him to the world outside of the city of Barton. For Zach, James was an uncontrollable ‘K’. He could let Zach continue his peaceful life in Barton. But he could also lead the ‘A’ that would make Zach once again run for his life.” 1
Zach couldn’t risk letting anyone know that he, a Toreador, lived in the city of Barton in the westernmost part of the Federation!
Everyone knows that I am a curious person, and I often courted death and asked Zach some questions that would potentially cause him to kill me.
One day, I asked: “Why can’t nonhumans live happily together? Why do they have to have ranks? For example, why are werewolves hostile to vampires, the shapeshifters are always rejected by other nonhumans, and there are people like shadow brings and ghosts who have no bodies, but they all have to be ranked…”
“You asked too many questions, which one do you want me to answer?” Zach asked kindly.
“Oh.” I thought about it for a second, set aside a bunch of previous questions, and asked the one that I was most interested in, “Why is Toreador the weakest clan among the vampire clans?”
“You think I’m weak?” Zach was even more friendly.
I was overdrawing my luck: “Yeah, aren’t your clan destroyed by the other twelve clans, and you are the only one left in your clan?” 2
“Well, what you said makes sense.” Zach nodded. “Now, I am hungry.”
