Records Of Barton's Fantastical Events - Chapter 104
Chapter 104: Chapter 5 Confusion
James held his bleeding nose and stood up from the ground, only to see the back of the vampire and the werewolf going back to the bus terminal. Dawn was coming, and the sky gradually lit up. James looked at his blood-stained palm, pinched his nose, and took a few deep breaths before chasing after them.
Only until Benjamin approached the bus terminal did he frown. Without using the alpha skin, the senses of human alpha were not comparable to the vampire, except for the sense of smell. But the sense of smell was also the slowest of the senses. Only now did he just see the people who had suddenly appeared in the bus terminal after they had left the bus terminal less than half of a minute.
The two approached the buses that had been slammed close to each other. The woman lying in front of the buses still maintained the posture of looking under the chassis of the buses. She stretched out her hand as if she wanted to grab the person inside, but her eyes were closed tightly.
The werewolf’s arms and head had already been covered with dark brown hair, standing beside Zach.
Zach pressed Benjamin’s shoulder, frowned, and shook his head.
At the darkest time before dawn, the vampire felt a slight vibration in the air; and Zach, who was extremely sensitive to vitality (blood), immediately judged that it was the heartbeat; two weak heartbeats had suddenly appeared. But this was also the problem. Zach only felt the appearance of these two people!
Benjamin did not relax. He wanted to confirm it with his senses. Even James, who just wanted to approach, was forced back by his eyes.
Zach did not stop him. He squatted down and turned the woman over. There was a photo of the newlyweds attached to the newspaper. Zach recalled it and confirmed that it was Tiffany Quest.
“What happened? !” James stood in front of the bus terminal courtyard, “Who is that? Is it Mrs. Quest? !” James could only tell that it was a woman.
The vampire had no obligation to answer James. He lowered his body and looked under the bus chassis. It was Neil Quest.
Neil raised his face, looking in the direction of Tiffany. Looking at his posture, it seemed like he was trying to crawl out. Of course, his eyes were also closed. From their weak heartbeats, Zach knew that they were all in syncope.
“Did you feel anything?” Benjamin asked Zach who had pulled Neil out.
Benjamin had used Alpha skin, but he didn’t find anything strange. The dark brown hair had diminished, the pointed ears had become rounded, and the protruding jaw slowly retracted; but the eyebrows on his human face were almost twisted together.
Zack patted the clothes that had been soiled by being pressed to the ground and shook his head: “These two people were the only things I felt.” Zach opened his fingers and made a hand gesture of the sudden appearance.
“Are they the Quest-” James held his nose and continued yelling to them, but this question was directly interrupted by Zach impatiently.
“Yes.” Zach glanced at James. The blood from his nose seemed to have stopped, but the blood that had flowed out still stained the detective’s hands and clothes. Zach shifted his gaze. “This is not your case, you should leave now. James, Detective Rance, trust me, you need to leave.”
The vampire was obviously not in a good mood.
The habit of putting blood in a wine glass is not for convenience and deception, but, well, let’s put it this way. When humans, which are us, are happy, sad, angry, confused, irritable, and excited… we will want to drink. The same goes for vampires.
James seemed to be aware of something. He looked at the blood on his hands, and his cheeks became sharply defined because of the gnashing teeth. He glanced fiercely at this side, but eventually turned around and left.
The emotion in the eyes of the vampire was a bit complicated now, and so was the werewolf. Because the scene at this time could be considered a provocation, or it could be considered a withdrawal. Well, no matter who made this young couple disappear and reappear, he, she, or it had the powerful ability to make people disappear out of thin air and reappear without being discovered by anyone.
Therefore, the vampire seemed to think that the other party had no regard for him and Alpha, and deliberately showed the strength in front of them. It could also be considered that the other party had discovered that his behavior had attracted the vampire and the werewolf! So the young couple must be sent back quickly!
But which one would it be? Moreover, the vampire had already thought of something worse.
“We have to show Spell. This is very like witchcraft.” Zach looked at Benjamin, “If Papa Midnight did this, we need to prepare for ourselves. We can’t let him play with Grande again.”
Benjamin frowned, thinking seriously. Last month, Papa Midnight led them to go around in a very big circle, initially drawing everyone’s attention to the Dead Apostle. Then after using the Dead Apostle, everyone’s attention was again focused on the descendants of the vampire and the Shaman. Finally, based on his action, Papa Midnight might want to quietly take Matthew away. However, he underestimated Benjamin Wolf’s attachment to the wolfpack.
“Okay.” Benjamin nodded, “We can’t ask them, they will definitely refuse. We need to go directly to them.”
“I think so too.” Zach smiled bitterly and signaled to Benjamin. Then each one of them picked up a Quest and walked to the truck outside the bus terminal.
It didn’t take long for the two to come to the Passing residential area, the same run-down neighborhood as before. It was just dawn at the moment, many people in work uniforms had just left their homes and were going to work. There were also many people in uniforms who had just returned home from the evening shift.
The two came to the front of the small courtyard of Gale’s house. Zach frowned. He and Benjamin glanced at each other, walked into the courtyard, and stood in front of the porch. Zac listened for a while. There was no movement, not even the heartbeat that the vampire was very sensitive to.
“Hey! You two, what are you doing.”
Zach turned his head and noticed that it was the neighbor who had spoken to them in the past. It seemed like he was about to go out. But at the moment, he was staring at the two people warily.
“Hello there! Don’t you remember us? We are from the Grande Funeral Home.” Zach smiled at the neighbor.
“Oh!” The neighbor seemed to remember, “It’s you two! Wait a minute.”
Zach and Benjamin were confused. They just wanted to ask why, but the neighbor walked directly back to his house. When he came out again, there was a metal box in his hand. He threw it to them and said, “They said you would come, and told me to give you this.”
The two were even more confused, but Zach still caught the square box, which was a Cipher Box. The two looked at the rusty box and didn’t know what it meant. “Where are they?”
“Left. Left Barton.” The neighbor glanced at the two in confusion, “You didn’t know?”
“I don’t know!” Zach answered honestly, “When did they leave? Where did they go?”
“Euh.” The neighbor locked his door and answered as he walked, “Ten days ago, they said to hide in the central part of the Federation.”
“Ten days ago? Hide? Why?” The two were even more confused. Ten days ago? Didn’t the couple live in Grande at that time?
“You didn’t know?” The neighbor asked in surprise, and then said as if talking to himself, “Uh, it’s not a secret anyway, it’s in the newspaper.” The neighbor lowered his voice, “They had a son who had left home a long time ago and was sentenced to death ten days ago, but he injured someone after the sentence. They didn’t want to be disturbed by reporters, so they wanted to avoid them…”
The neighbor rushed to work after speaking, leaving Zach and Benjamin standing there, not knowing what expression they should have on their faces.
