Reborn: Super God of War - Chapter 410
Chapter 410: Terms and Wager
“Lone Wolf!” Feng Yun’s pupils constricted, while his heart thumped as only that pair of purplish-black hands were left in his line of sight! It was as if that pair of huge hands was sewed together from countless corpses—they were filled with blood, raw flesh, and bones, which even gave off a disgusting smell that incited one to vomit. Just being next to it made one feel extremely uncomfortable.
Feng Yun was a person at the top of the Rankings Board, and his guild even focused their resources on training him after he had obtained Artherga. After the battle at Atlas Peak, he had also learned not to underestimate his enemies, so naturally, he was unwilling to be grabbed by Lin Jie like that.
He had activated Death Grip for himself and become immune to the Death Grip effect. He then shouted loudly. “Leader Lone Wolf, I have no intention to show you any disrespect. I am only here to negotiate with you as Twilight Transmigration’s representative.”
“Oh? Negotiate? Why didn’t Character Z come himself but order you to come? Does he think that I’m only fit to talk to the nobodies of Twilight Transmigration and that I have no qualifications to converse with him? Ridiculous!”
Lin Jie stood in the distance with his face full of anger. He looked like he had been wronged by being looked down upon.
Feng Yun was rendered speechless. “What logic is this? Also, how did I become a nobody? No matter what, I should be quite well-known in the guild.”
Lin Jie, who was in “violent rage,” pointed his Blade Aura towards the group of underlings surrounding Mixed Breathless and slashed his blade, releasing the Blade Aura!
Swoosh!
Wind Rider Blade Aura Executioner rushed towards the group of underlings while bringing along sharp Blade Aura. That group of players was only Level 33, so it was impossible for them to block Lin Jie’s attack! With that attack, it was over for those underlings.
Who would have expected that right before the Blade Aura hit the underlings, a Holy Light Viel appeared? The Blade Aura emanated the veil viciously. Although formidable 1,000+ damage value popped up, the shield was not broken.
[Glory Light Veil]: Allies within the range will lose a maximum of 10% Health Points that gathers to form a veil. The value of the Defense Shield would be the “Lost Health Points x10”, blocks attacks for allies.
“Leader Lone Wolf, I think we can talk now,” said Feng Yun calmly as he smirked. He had successfully saved the lives of a group of players.
Mixed Breathless stood beside Lin Jie with a black face and squeezed out his words from his tightly gritted teeth. “Brother Night was killed. I want this Paladin to be bleached!”
Bleached a slang term in the Killer Mercenary Organization; it meant to guard the player’s corpse after the player was killed, then kill again when the player revived, until all the players’ items were dropped and the fell back to Level 1.
Dejected Night was Mixed Breathless’ brother. They had fought together for many years. In addition, it was Dejected Night who had helped Mixed Breathless and guided him along all these years. It was only natural that Mixed Breathless could not control his anger after Dejected Night’s death.
Lin Jie nodded his head and only said one word, “Alright.”
Mixed Breathless was stunned. He thought their leader would make him temporarily restrain his anger for the big picture, who would have thought that he would agree just like that?
“What do you want to discuss? Speak.” Lin Jie looked at Feng Yun calmly, but in his eyes were emitting killing intent. It seemed as if he wanted to kill Feng Yun with his glare through that layer of veil.
Feng Yun was slightly frightened by Lin Jie’s glare, but he said solemnly, “Twilight Transmigration wishes to have a bet with the Brotherhood. As for the details of the bet, naturally, it would be the first clear of the final Boss of Holy Light Temple in the third Main Plot Dungeon. We have also noticed that Leader Lone Wolf, all the Bosses you have killed, were all under Hero-Level. So, the criteria of the bet would be Hero-Level Bosses, our guild would definitely not take advantage of you.”
“Continue.”
“The wager, if you win, then we, the Twilight Transmigration, will immediately retreat from the City of Light and never step foot into the City of Light ever again. If you lose, our request is also very simple, Savage Blade must join Twilight Transmigration, and we will give each of you the treatment of the Vice Guild Leader. Also, you will enjoy the highest standard of salary and benefits. How does that sound? If you accept, we can immediately make the deal and upload the video to the official website as evidence.”
Lin Jie nodded his head knowingly and asked, “Is that all?”
“Huh?” Feng Yun froze, and then he asked in doubt, “Did Leader Lone Wolf not hear clearly? Do you need me to repeat?”
Lin Jie grinned. “Indeed, I did not hear very clearly, why don’t you explain to me a few more times? Death Grip!”
“What!?”
Before Feng Yun could even react, that purplish-black hand grabbed him once again! Death Grip’s cooldown had finished after speaking for so long with Feng Yun, but Feng Yun’s Divine Shield had an extremely long cooldown, so what was he going to use to block this time?
“Commander’s Order!”
Feng Yun leisurely waved his hand, and the health bars of his underlings suddenly dropped. [Commander’s Order] allowed the allies that had been blessed previously to protect one by losing 10% of their health points, helping one to become immune to a skill once.
Feng Yun walked the path of the mass-enhancement route, but his ability to save oneself was quite strong too. His skills were powerful in supporting the masses, but at the same time, they were also good at selling his teammates out—all of his allies were his best cannon fodder.
Just at that moment, a pure white figure suddenly appeared behind Feng Yun, and with a wave of the staff, a pale green wave radiated outwards, it was Bu Yi releasing “Mass Dispel”! What were enhancement-type skills most afraid of? It was Dispel! Dispel could nullify the enhancement buff of the target.
Under Mass Dispel, all the buffs disappeared, including that layer of veil!
From Lin Jie activating Death Grip, then Feng Yun using Commander’s Order to save himself, to Bu Yi appearing and dispelling the buffs, all of that happened in the blink of an eye—one wouldn’t even be able to react in time. One could only feel that their vision blurred, and Feng Yun was grasped by Death Grip, screaming miserably as he was brought in front of Lin Jie. The underlings who had lost their Buffs were like they had lost their energy and became dispirited with their attributes decreased over 30%.
“Hmph, and you want to discuss terms of the bet with me? I’ll give you 10 minutes, call your guild leader here!” Lin Jie grabbed Feng Yun by his neck as if lifting a chicken.
Once a Paladin, who used mass buff, was captured, then his battling power would be even weaker than a Priest. He fixed his glare at Lin Jie, with his eyes full of anger and anguish.
“You really are Lone Wolf, the creator of Brotherhood. You are flexible in the way you handle things, I admire you for that. If it was not for Brotherhood being so powerful, to the point where Twilight Transmigration had no choice but to become your enemy, just by how you readily follow your heart, we would have to share a drink.” A free-spirited voice, which was filled with the vicissitudes of the years, could be heard. A Warrior, who wore tight green soft armor, gradually appeared. He seemed to be surrounded by the element of wind.
The longsword he held in his hand was long and thin like silk thread, which was hardly noticeable if one did not observe closely. That was the Dark Gold Longsword [Spirit Wind].
That person was the guild leader of Twilight Transmigration—Character Z.
Character Z’s job was Weapon Specialist, but he added his stat points differently from normal people, it was the rare playing method of adding all his points into the Agility stat. He focused on his Movement Speed, Attack Speed, and Critical Hit, belonging to the abnormal types of people, very strange and weird. Thus, people who were unfamiliar with him would most likely be caught by surprise.
Lin Jie still grabbed Feng Yun’s neck as he looked coldly at Character Z, he said, “You were at the side, but you purposely did not appear, are you intentionally picking a fight with me?”
“Cough-cough, it’s a misunderstanding, a misunderstanding. I just coincidentally passed by only, then coincidentally saw that the negotiator that I had sent caused some trouble with you, which is why I appeared to talk things over.” Character Z kept a straight face when saying things that even he would not believe, then continued, “However, what Feng Yun said was not wrong, I am here to negotiate with you, or it would be great if you could just directly bring Savage Blade over and join the Twilight Transmigration. I will try my best to give you the best kind of treatment.”
“That wager is boring, how about we bet on something else?” said Lin Jie calmly. “If I lose, then I will directly sell Brotherhood to you together with my Hermit Helmet, you could substitute me and become “Codename Lone Wolf”. If I win, Twilight Transmigration will provide some development funds for me, not much is needed, just 100,000 gold coins, how does that sound?”
Badum!
Character Z’s heart thumped as he looked at Lone Wolf in surprise as if trying to see through his mask. He remembered that when Baili Xuanyuan had gathered everyone to discuss, someone had suggested before: Use all methods possible to destroy Codename Lone Wolf, then substitute him, become Codename Lone Wolf, and then transfer Brotherhood altogether.
Now that Lin Jie had actually taken the initiative to suggest that condition, Character Z could not help but be suspicious. Was it possible that Codename Lone Wolf had some kind of plan? Or was it just pure confidence?
Character Z frowned, and only after quite a while did he smile and said, “Alright! But I have taken a liking to you, so let’s add another condition. If you lose, I’ll give an additional 1,000 gold coins to Savage Blade as compensation. Just take it as a meeting gift, hahaha.”
“Then I’ll take up the offer.” Lin Jie casually nodded his head. 100,000 gold coins was a total of $10,000,000 in cash! To many normal people, 10,000,000 was an astronomical figure that they would not be able to earn even in their whole lifetime. What an astonishing bet! Lin Jie could predict that once such a bet was spread, it would definitely attract the attention of many people.
“Haha, I like a straightforward talk from a straightforward person!” Character Z put on his signature smile as though he was talking to a friend. “Feng Yun was only a minor role present to pass on a message. We’re quite famous people, so why don’t you just let him go?”
Lin Jie looked at Character Z with a teasing smile. That fellow had a good plan, taking the initiative to suggest the 1,000 gold coins for compensation was to firstly increase one’s favorability of him and secondly to save Feng Yun without any effort needed. Lastly, he wanted to create an image that Twilight Transmigration was wealthy.
Mixed Breathless sighed deeply as he had understood that the two sides’ leaders had conversed and even made a bet. Therefore, they would have to give each other some face, bleaching Feng Yun was no longer possible.
“Army Obliteration!”
-1,384!
-1,437!
-1,300!
-1,374!
Before everyone reacted, Blade Aura exploded out, and Feng Yun had already become a corpse. His level decreased by 1, and he dropped a Gold Leather Armor.
Character Z’s face became black as ink in an instant. Feng Yun had become a corpse just after he had asked Lin Jie to release Feng Yun. Lin Jie’s action was equal to slapping him right in his face!
“Leader Lone Wolf! What’s the meaning of this?”
“I promised my brother that I would bleach this reckless b*stard. If I don’t keep my promise, then could I, the leader, still be trusted anymore?” Lin Jie flipped his right hand, and a prismatic stone made of light floated in the sky—that was the Holy Light Stone of Grace. Feng Yun’s soul came out from within the Holy Light Stone of Grace, and then he instantly received the prompt message: Do you choose to revive?
Reviving now would only result in being killed by Lin Jie once again! Feng Yun now hated Lin Jie with all his heart, how would he possibly revive?
However, there was a Priest present. Bu Yi had already used Revival Spell, and then Feng Yun saw himself revive in horror.
In the blink of an eye, Broken Blade slid Feng Yun’s throat again, and blood splashed out—he had become a corpse yet again!

Some people might not understand the game settings, so here’s an additional explanation to the settings of The New Age: Normally, if a player dies in the wild, their EXP would be cleared to zero and then drop a level. Their soul would be released automatically at the nearest “cemetery “, then the players would need to control their souls to run to where their corpse was to revive. Cemeteries were normally present in towns, villages, or near the teleportation station. Of course, the inside of the dungeon was independent as players would not drop a level even if they die, and their souls would directly appear at the “cemetery” within the dungeon.
Meanwhile, using the background of the game to describe, the Priest’s Revival Spell was: God loves people, so some “representatives of the gods” were bestowed with superpowers to show mercy on those who unfortunately die, and allow their souls to instantly return to their bodies and recover, reducing the damage received to a certain degree.
That meant the Priest’s Revival Spell could save the time where the players’ souls needed to run, thus allowing the souls to directly be teleported to beside the corpse and revive, and some loss of EXP could also be compensated. Of course, the precondition was that the player chooses to accept when the Priest activates Revival Spell.
However, if the player’s soul was already beside the corpse, the Priest could directly revive the player without needing confirmation.
Meanwhile, the EXP compensated would be according to the level of the Priest’s Revival Spell and the percentage of the total EXP lost by that player’s death.
