Chapter 25: Chapter 25: Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder is Also an Illness

In the 27 years that Abigail had lived, she had never once thought that someone would hire her as a maternity nurse.
It was absolutely insulting to a genius doctor like her.
However, after a silent minute, Abigail looked up, “I need time to think.”
The body of her former host had been rendered weak and she needed proper rest, something the Green household obviously couldn’t offer, but the Piers family was different.
For the sake of the child, she assumed they wouldn’t be harsh towards her.
Especially after what happened last night, surely Taylor and her daughter would be seeking revenge once they got over their terror.
She wasn’t afraid of a face-off, but now wasn’t the right time.
“Okay, I look forward to Miss Green’s response.” Upon seeing the relaxation on Abigail’s face, Brandon Piers’s handsome face softened, becoming more attractive, though slightly pale – the face of an invalid.
It wasn’t the first time Abigail had seen him, yet she still found herself dazzled.
Wouldn’t looking at such a face daily prolong one’s life?
Dismissing the thought that crossed her mind, Abigail finally found time to survey Brandon’s study.
It was tastefully decorated, giving off a vintage charm but what really intrigued Abigail was the symmetry of the furnishings, and if not symmetric, they were arranged in order of size.
OCD?
No wonder.
She knew it, the reason why he had insisted on giving her so much room before, was due to OCD.
After she left the room, Pullan curiously started, “Why is our young master so fond of Miss Green?”
“He may also be sick” Brandon mused, the image of her symmetrical, fair face flashed in his mind as he muttered under his breath.
Pullan, “…”
Didn’t Dr. Waston just declare him healthy? How could he be sick?
“OCD is also a sickness.” Brandon remarked dismissively, leaving his study.
Pullan, “?”
Could the boss explain properly? Their young master couldn’t have OCD, could he? It’s not even hereditary!
…
Abigail had lunch at the old Piers residence.
The dishes were simple due to Elder Piers’s age but there were quite a few medicinal dishes. The chicken soup, golden and fragrant, had her eating heartily.
Although Elder Piers did not approve of the engagement with the Green family, he didn’t vent his anger on Abigail, treating her kindly like a good elder should.
However, Abigail knew that despite the internal and external threats, the Piers family had managed to retain order thanks to the old gentleman in front of her. His kindness was only reserved for his grandson.
After lunch, Abigail quickly fed the baby as soon as the nurse and maternity nurse left for their meal, making sure the baby was well-fed.
The child seemed content, quietly dozing by her side.
This peace was something Abigail, who had led a life akin to fighting a war during surgeries, had never experienced. For the first time since her rebirth, she could relax.
However, just as she was beginning to enjoy the tranquility, her phone started ringing. Fearing the noise would wake the baby, she hung up.
But the caller was persistent.
Abigail glanced at the child, quietly leaving the room just as the nurse came in, “Kelly, I need to take a call.”
She found a quiet corner and answered the call.
“You are becoming more and more disrespectful! How dare you hang up on my call? Your aunt and Ruby are in the hospital because of you and you don’t even bother to visit! How could I, Lincoln Green, have raised such a cold-blooded creature! You have thirty minutes to get to Sincere hospital.” Lincoln Green hung up abruptly.
Abigail hadn’t even had the chance to speak. Hearing the dial tone, a cold smile touched her lips. Clearly, Taylor and her daughter had been stirring trouble behind her back.
Going to the hospital? Fine, let’s see.
