Provocative Fiery Wife: My Superior is an Affectionate Spitfire - Chapter 693
Chapter 693: He seems to have seen her before.
She opened his car and got in the passenger seat.
She had just closed the door when he leaned over and helped her fasten the seatbelt.
As his face drew close to hers, even if he was already her boyfriend, she still felt a little shy.
“I-I can do it myself,” she mumbled.
Her plea was clearly useless as the man continued buckling her seatbelt before returning to his side.
“What do you want to discuss with me?”
Once he buckled his seatbelt as well, he stepped on the gas and drove the car away from the Qin family’s villa.
“Oh, I want to ask you about Qitong’s stepmother. What kind of person is she?”
She decided to ask about that woman first before telling him her suspicions.
“That woman?” He felt displeased when she asked something unrelated to him.
Still, he replied to her question.
“I don’t know her since I take no notice of her. My mother dislikes her, though, saying that she’s a hypocrite.”
She nodded comprehendingly.
“Why are you asking me this? Is it because of my cousin?” He kept his eyes on the road.
She nodded lightly, not hiding her suspicions from him.
“Ziming, I suspect that Qitong has been framed up by her stepmom and that Li Yumeng.”
He wrinkled his brows at this.
“I went to see your cousin today, and she didn’t look well. From the Qin family’s actions today, there are too many dubious points. I suspect…”
She paused slightly here and turned to face him.
“What do you suspect?” he asked, his forehead creasing.
“I suspect that those two women might’ve known each other long ago. Plus, Qitong’s stepmom is either not pregnant or the child in her womb doesn’t have the Qin’s blood, and that’s why they teamed up and did all this act to kill two birds with one stone.”
She narrowed her eyes and her voice unknowingly tinged with the sharpness of someone in a high position.
The traffic light turned red.
He braked and turned to look at her.
“Ziming, I need your help,” she said solemnly.
“Okay.” Without asking about what help she needed, he quickly agreed to it.
“Pfft!” She burst out laughing when he did this sans hesitation.
“Fool. I haven’t even told what it is, and you already agreed? Aren’t you afraid of me selling you away?” she joked.
“As long as it’s what you want, as long as it’s your request, I’ll fulfill all of it.” He looked calmly at her, his eyes filled with love.
“Stupid.” She glared at him shyly, her heart brimming with joy.
“I just want your cousin’s stepmom investigated. What strange things she has done recently and if she has anything to do with that Bi Zheng’s girlfriend…”
As they chatted, the car quickly reached her neighborhood.
When the car stopped, and the man got off with her, she faced him in shock, asking, “Why did you get out of the car, too?”
“To have dinner with you and auntie,” he replied smilingly.
She blinked at him. Before she could speak, he led her by the hand up the apartment building.
The sight of them holding hands startled Zhang Manhua.
“Ge Ge, you went out with Xiao Ji this afternoon?”
She beamed at the two, her eyes turning in slits.
“No. I only met him by chance on my way back.”
She glanced at him helplessly.
“Since Xiao Ji is here, I should properly cook up a feast for tonight.”
Her mother told him this as she went to busy herself in the kitchen.
She followed her mother in the kitchen.
As a corollary, Ji Ziming was left by himself in the huge living room.
Although the TV was blaring, he was uninterested in watching it. Instead, he directed his gaze on the family photo atop the side table.
Of the three people in it, his attention was drawn to the pretty girl sandwiched between the young couple.
The little girl in the picture had a sweet and adorable smile. Her glittery, wide eyes resembled two grapes, as well as shining little suns.
He did not know why, but when he saw the little girl’s image, he found her to be a little familiar…
He intuitively placed his hand on her eyes and lips.
Why… do I find this little girl familiar?
It feels as if I’ve seen her somewhere before…
“Xiao Ji, what are you looking at?”
Zhang Manhua spotted him holding their family photo the moment she stepped out of the kitchen.
Seeing him raptly staring at her daughter’s photo when she was young, she chuckled and teased him.
“Are you thinking that our Ge Ge was very cute in the past? She’s the prettiest child in our neighborhood back then and even hailed as the school flower in elementary and middle schools.”
Only upon hearing her did he collect his thoughts.
Hearing the smugness in her voice, he realized, with amusement, that this was his girlfriend’s family photo.
The reason he found her familiar was because…
She was the young Pei Ge.
Although she looked different at present, her five features remained the same.
No wonder… I would think that I’ve seen her somewhere before…
