Provocative Fiery Wife: My Superior is an Affectionate Spitfire - Chapter 1713
Chapter 1713: Shall see what he can do about it.
Seeing the iciness and insistence on his face, Pei Ge felt a little touched inside. “Mr. Charlie, my mom will stay with me; I will be in charge of her safety.”
She answered in a decisive manner, too, and the two of them came to a standstill at the car door. Sitting in the car, Zhang Manhua smiled at the two and reassured, “Charlie, you don’t have to worry. Go take the car behind; I will be very safe.”
The man hesitated a little but nodded his head in the end and went to the SUV behind. Other than five bulky men, there was also a petite woman with light makeup inside. They were clearly all trained individuals. When Charlie looked at the woman, he was even shocked inside.
These people were the elite bodyguards Ji Ziming had arranged to protect Pei Ge.
The mother-daughter duo sat in the car. Their faces were flushed as ecstasy emanated from their being. Zhang Manhua’s gaze was even twinkling with happiness when she looked at her daughter. It was a natural joy from reuniting with one’s family after a long time.
“Ge Ge, how have you been after staying here for so long?”
She was most concerned about her daughter’s welfare. Other than that, she did not care about anything else. Nothing else was more important than this.
“Good. Of course, I’m good. Mom, why do you always ask this every time we meet? You also asked me that the last time I went to find you.”
Pei Ge laughed aloud and patted her mom’s arm. “Don’t worry; I’m fine, and Ziming treats me very well, too.”
“If he dares to mistreat you, I will immediately bring you and the three children back to the US with me. I shall see what he can do about it.”
Zhang Manhua chuckled and turned to look at her daughter affectionately. Seeing her smiling happily, she also felt happy inside.
“How great.”
“What?”
Her daughter did not understand immediately, even thinking that she was referring to her return here. “Mom, since you are back already, stay here for some time. Qitong and Bi Zheng are also coming back to hold their wedding soon.”
Pei Ge’s beautiful eyes were hiding a smile as her gaze turned even gentler when she looked at her mother.
“I know. Other than reuniting with your uncle, I rushed back to help those two plan their wedding.”
Zhang Manhua’s eyes crinkled affectionately as she continued speaking. “Daughter, you don’t know how well Bi Zheng has been treating Qitong in the period after you returned to the country. The two of them were just short of being glued to each other. They always came to visit me together, and when Qitong had to go teach at the university, both of them still stuck to each other. When Bi Zheng went to work, and Qitong had nothing on, she would come over to learn from me how to cook his favorite dishes. After that, she would make them and bring all back to him.”
She squeezed her daughter’s hands while speaking. Unknowingly, the latter’s hands already had some small calluses. They were a big contrast to the smooth skin on her palms and back of her hands. The calluses were rough while her skin was smooth and tender. If this were others, they would likely not believe that there were a few calluses on the edge of the fingernails on such tender and soft hands.
“Ge Ge, it’s been so many years. You—”
“I know what you are getting at, mom. It’s fine. It has passed.”
Pei Ge smiled and looked into her mother’s eyes seriously. “Do you know? I’ve never thought that I would have any relation with the Qu family. Jingwan wanted to marry Ji Ziming, and Old Lady Qu always tried to create trouble for me behind my back. If not for seeing that DNA test result with my two eyes, I would not believe it at all.”
She carefully said, telling her mother about the feelings and uneasiness she felt when she first found out that she was the Qus’ young mistress as well.
“You have suffered.”
Her mother listened intently. She knew how much her daughter had suffered throughout this ordeal, but all she could do was reassure her at this moment.
Two cars were not driving abreast. The Rolls-Royce was in front, and the SUV was behind. Despite them being only a short distance apart, it was the best chance for another car to get between the two.
Old Lady Qu’s close aide passed between the two cars without receiving any damage. It only left a very light scratch on the white SUV after it drove past.
Both cars stopped at the same time, and the driver alighted from it, only to see that the close aide’s car had driven off into the distance. Hence, it would be a waste of time and effort to chase after it.
“What’s wrong?”
Pei Ge rolled down the windows to ask the driver.
“Madam, we came into a small accident moments ago. Fortunately, both cars and people came out unscatched.”
The driver answered honestly.
“It’s fine if nothing went wrong. Let’s just hurry back.”
After saying this, both drivers returned to their respective cars. However, none of the people in the second car felt that this was merely a small accident. It was also not as simple as the driver had described it to be. There was a big possibility hidden within it—that was that the mother-daughter pair’s lives might be in danger.
Meanwhile, the close aide was calling Old Lady Qu while driving.
“Madam, I saw it. There are two people in the car.”
The close aide’s voice was frigid. Having seen through the filth and evil of humans, he had become apathetic toward another’s life. To him, another person’s life was akin to a cigarette—able to be extinguished in an instant.
“Okay, I got it. As for what happens next, take it in your hands. Don’t come asking me. I am now busy, so don’t call me anymore.”
Old Lady Qu revealed a triumphant smile. Everything was going according to her plans, as though she had been waiting for this moment when Zhang Manhua returned.
There was some rustling in the receiver, and a man’s unique rough voice sounded. He instantly understood where Old Lady Qu was currently at, and that voice was also one that he was very familiar with.
He suppressed the bit of unhappiness inside and nodded, acquiescing to all of the old lady’s orders. This was the most basic rule and etiquette of being part of the Empire.
The close aide had never thought that he would see the owner of this familiar voice standing right in front of him soon.
Meanwhile, in the Ji Group, Ji Ziming was currently rushing through the urgent work at hand. It concerned the future development of Pei Ge’s company. As the biggest partner, he could not make a mistake. Luckily, he had a wide social network.
