Provocative Fiery Wife: My Superior is an Affectionate Spitfire - Chapter 1645
Chapter 1645: It seems that Pei Ge moves fast.
“Hubby, I’ll feel shy if you keep saying that.”
Old Lady Qu continued massaging her husband’s back as she spoke abashedly. “You have to give the youngsters a chance. Also, you know very well what kind of person Ji Ziming is. It’s normal for him to get a woman’s help with his work.”
“You have a point, but for a woman to enter his eyes, she surely isn’t a simple character, either.” Old Master Qu sighed. He knew too well that chap’s tactics and personality. The average woman could not enter his eyes, but if she was unique, then how was she unique?
“Stop talking. Anyway, he has a marriage arrangement with our granddaughter. Jingwan is well loved by his mother and father.”
She did it on purpose to prevent the old man from wanting to meet Pei Ge. That was because she knew that, the moment he saw that woman’s appearance, he would not let her go easily.
It was because that woman looked a lot like someone.
Someone who was forever a prick in her heart. As long as Pei Ge appeared before her husband, everything would come to an end for her.
She would therefore never let the two meet each other. Unfortunately, that woman had been doing very well recently, and she still had not found a way to deal with her.
“Speaking of our granddaughter, isn’t she working at the Ji Group right now? Do you know where she is?” asked her husband softly. Ever since Qu Jingwan came back from the Ji family, she had locked herself up, even refusing to drink or eat for one day. The next morning, the servants went to tell the old man that his granddaughter had gone outside in the middle of the night.
Even when she was home, she would always go out early and come back at dusk, just like Qu Xiujie.
“Jingwan’s mood isn’t very good now, so it’s understandable for her to want some space.”
Inside, she was scolding her granddaughter for making her clean after her.
“It’s not good for young people to be like this. If the Jis learn about this, they may have a comment on how we raised Jingwan. If this gets out, how can she marry someone else? Oh, right, I just thought of it; you’d better get that Qingyu to stay far away from our granddaughter. I heard from Xiujie that that boy isn’t behaving well outside.”
The man said a lot but did not hear any response from the person behind him.
He turned around and saw the woman dazedly standing there. Her hands had shifted from his shoulders to his arms, and she was given a shock by his call.
“What’s wrong with you? Why are you absent-minded?”
Looking at her, he had no idea what he had said which caused the other to be in a daze, such that he had to call her to jolt her out of it.
“I’m thinking of what to do about Qingyu.”
She appeared worried but, in actual fact, was worried for herself. She had almost forgotten that her granddaughter, who had returned from the Ji family, had the most interaction with Pei Ge. How could she have forgotten that, other than herself, there was still that lady in the family?
“Why not find him a job?” proposed Old Master Qu, feeling slightly anxious when there was no response from her still.
“I found jobs for him before, but he either refused to work or offended everyone at his workplace. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have asked him to resign.”
She sighed, becoming more cautious and defensive when she thought of facing her granddaughter and Qu Qingyu in the future.
“Why don’t you send them both overseas? It’ll also be great if they can gain some knowledge; it’s not a good idea for them to always stay at home.”
The man suggested as he gazed gently at her.
“Do you think so?”
There was a look of surprise on her face. She did not manage to suppress her excitement and her face showed a look of joy. Even her lips were betraying her current emotions.
“There’s no problem with me. I still have money to send them overseas.”
He was not a bit worried because he only cared about his wife continuing to worry over those two’s matters.
The woman could finally get rid of the two, for she knew that her granddaughter was in love with Qu Qingyu. The only reason she did not say anything was to make use of these emotions to force Qu Jingwan into doing her biddings. She just did not expect her granddaughter to be unable to accomplish her task, so she eventually lost confidence in her.
She was in full agreement with her husband’s suggestion. As long as it would not affect her status and her granddaughter would not reveal anything about Pei Ge, she could start a new plan on how she could deal with that woman.
Once the old man retired to his room, she went to the greenhouse, for someone had already been waiting there for her.
Her close aide stood behind a pillar. If one did not know that he was there, one might be unable to find him.
“Madam.”
When she entered the greenhouse, and he saw that there was nobody behind her, he ran up to her and bowed.
“How’s that lady now?”
Old Lady Qu reclined in the chair by the floor-to-ceiling window. Mellow sunbeams shone on her; if she just opened her eyes, she would see clouds floating in the sky.
Such a peaceful setting totally did not suit her scheming nature.
“She’s caught by Pei Ge.”
There was a look of disappointment and guilt on his face.
“Caught? It seems that Pei Ge acts really fast.”
Her eyes opened suddenly; she seemed not to be able to feel the piercing sunlight.
“By the time I rushed to the train station, Ji Miao was caught by the couple, and she’s now jailed. The new superintendent was sent here through Ji Ziming’s connections. Although he appears timid, he is actually not.”
The close aide recounted Ji Miao’s situation and how he had even impersonated a member of the police force to approach her. Although that woman did not reveal the truth, the words that she said to Pei Ge at the police station made him unsure if she said those to give a hint regarding her employers.
However, he found it odd that after that woman was captured, the couple, as well as the superintendent, had not visited her once.
