Provocative Fiery Wife: My Superior is an Affectionate Spitfire - Chapter 1602
Chapter 1602: What is different?
Joe gave him a reserved smile, speaking slowly, “How is it, Ji Ziming? Did I get it right?”
“Yes.”
The man nodded, giving him a warning look, though the latter dismissed it with a smile.
“Sir, madam, quickly come in. See if there is anything suitable for the kids to play with.”
He told them. From the corner of his eyes, the doctor spotted Pei Ge looking at the three children endearingly. Her gaze was so gentle that he, who had seen one too many power-hungry women, could not help his heart from trembling.
This woman’s existence was a miracle itself.
“Let’s head in.”
Ji Ziming held her slender and small hand, leading the woman into the room.
The room had a childlike ambiance, its walls painted with a forest theme. In the painting, there were small mushrooms that children liked and a snapshot of a deer galloping through the forest. One could feel relaxed simply by standing before these walls.
Pei Ge liked this style a lot. Standing there, she told him, “I finally know what the difference between Dr. Joe’s hospital and other hospitals is.”
“Oh?”
The man gave the woman a side-eye when she looked at Joe with awe and spoke in a cold but clear voice, “So what is it?”
“Heart.”
She looked up at him with a wide smile.
“He puts his heart into his job. A normal pediatrics hospital has white walls to look clean and simple, yet kids actually despise seeing such a bland color when they’re feeling sick despite not voicing it. That’s because all have survival instincts, and other than relying on the doctors before them, they have no other choice if they want to survive.”
She was making so much sense that he could not help but reveal a look of surprise.
“Madam, you truly understand our efforts. I am a person who likes taking the unusual route. Why must hospitals use such a drab color? I think that since most of my patients are kids, my hospital should be a place where they’ll feel comfortable and happy. Also, as a doctor, we should be fighting the disease with them and not making them fear it or lose hope. In this world, there is nothing else to fear than life itself.”
Joe smilingly explained the vision he had when he designed this hospital.
“Mhm, you are truly very special.”
The woman praised generously.
“It’s you who have a good taste and sight. You managed to see my vision just by looking once at this design, or perhaps God let us, muses, meet each other.”
He jokingly quipped. What he did not say, though, was: But we met too late.
Ji Ziming’s gaze turned cold and sharp. “It’s time for you to give my son treatment.”
“Alright, don’t start panicking. This treatment may take some time. You should mentally prepare yourselves for your son before we proceed. Otherwise, if we stop halfway, it will not only be useless but also detrimental to him.”
“Is there any other way to recover from that?”
Pei Ge was a little worried. She had lied to the boy about their purpose of coming here. If not for this person’s hospital being able to satisfy the three children’s curiosity and interest, Ji Chi might even be unwilling to come, especially since Qu Jingwan was not around.
“It’s fine. I will have Cherrie make the kids happy.”
Joe never minded such minor details. His nurse could work for him in these two years because, other than suiting his taste, she was good at taking care of children. While overseas, urgent pediatric cases would always crop up, yet his female assistants then were unable to handle even a child’s crying.
When he spoke at a school once, he coincidentally met Cherrie. She was very good with children, so he immediately offered her a job, and yes, she stood out among those with the same position as her by getting promoted as his personal assistant before graduating from college.
Joe even fired his original assistant on the spot because of her.
“Okay.”
Pei Ge nodded. As long as it was for her son’s well-being, she could accept anything. She had even accepted Qu Jingwan’s presence in the Ji family and could tolerate her son being close to that lady, all along keeping the ache in her heart to herself. If her son could recover, she was willing to sacrifice anything.
Even if a dozen more of Qu Jingwan, she would still be willing.
Joe made a call, and soon, Cherrie entered the room in her pink uniform. She looked pretty and had the innocence and pureness of a student.
“Doc, were you looking for me?”
His call was not to her desk but was through her pager. It was a wonder where he obtained such a pager from.
As long as he needed her service, he would page her.
“You should know about today’s task and what you need to do, so I will not touch more on that. This time, it is this couple’s second son. You must be more careful and not let him sense anything.”
His voice was calm as he regarded her with a solemn look.
He became serious as he entered work mode and was no longer acting frivolous. He was always like this whenever dealing with children.
Cherrie nodded. Her smile, which resembled a kind older sister’s, was infectious to the three children, and soon, Ji Chi was obediently following her to the doctor’s side.
By the time a set of treatment was done, it was already evening. The boy did not feel any different, while his siblings were so obedient that they did not ask him anything. It was as though they had had a happy summer break when, in fact, the boy slept the day away.
“Mommy, I want to eat grandma’s tea-flavored eggs.”
Ran Ran stuck her head from behind her mother’s seat and looked at her with large eyes while acting cute. She saw that her mother, who was leaning against the window, was nodding off and waved her hand at her, asking softly, “Mommy, are you asleep already?”
“Daughter, I will help you call your grandma, instead; is that alright? This way, she will finish cooking it by the time we reach home and you can eat it.”
Seeing that the woman showed no signs of waking up, Ji Ziming dialed Zhang Manhua’s number himself.
“Okie!”
His daughter excitedly jumped on her seat as she thought of how she would have delicious food once they reached home before pouting at her two brothers. “Brothers, you can’t snatch my tea-flavored eggs this time. They’re all mine!”
