Provocative Fiery Wife: My Superior is an Affectionate Spitfire - Chapter 1564
Chapter 1564: I will let anyone who dares harm you pay for it.
The two were holding hands when they entered the hospital. They took the VIP elevator all the way to the top floor. Before they walked into the ward, they could already hear the three children’s melodious laughter.
“I know; I will always remember this.”
The corners of her lips shifted upward as her beautiful eyes became full of smiles.
“It’s good that you know. You must keep in mind that you are my woman, and there is nothing that I cannot do for you.”
He lightly snorted. His eyes were dark and sharp. It was only when he looked at her that they would slowly be replaced by gentleness. The woman he loved the most must be by his side forever.
Ring, ring! A handphone rang. The call was from Zhang Manhua.
“Mom, why are you calling?’
She covered the receiver with her hand and halted her footsteps, which were bound for the ward. Her face showed doubt.
“Why did you ask me earlier about your dad’s conversation with me before his death? Did you find something out? Hurry and tell mom about it.”
The older woman was already having insomnia from worrying about Tang Xiaoyu’s whereabouts; now, she could not fall asleep again after receiving her daughter’s call, so she got up to place this call.
“Mom, I just got another phone number of a man called Yang Hua from uncle.” Pei Ge honestly answered. Expecting that she would have to spend some time talking to her mother, she quickly turned around and entered another quiet ward.
Ji Ziming followed closely behind her. He wanted to be by her side no matter what.
He retrieved his phone to call He Yun the moment his woman entered the ward. “I will send you a number. Go investigate who owns it and report back to me everything—even the smallest detail.”
“Yes, sir!”
His subordinate noted down the number being read out to him; after the call was hung up, he immediately started the investigation.
Inside the ward, Pei Ge noted at once that this room was identical to the one she was staying in. Not only were the furnishings the same, even the paintings hung on the wall were painted by the artist she liked. What surprised her more was that her photo was placed somewhere one could see it the moment the door was opened.
Turns out that this room is Ji Ziming’s.
“Ge Ge, what’s wrong? Why did you stop speaking?”
Her mother hurriedly urged when she stopped talking. She quickly turned on the lights, illuminating every corner of the room.
“Mom, I’m fine. I was just looking for a quiet place to talk to you.”
Pei Ge regained her senses. It seemed that she had been underestimating her importance to the man. She knew and understood, but this was her first time feeling sad about it.
“Aren’t you at the Jis? Shouldn’t you be in your own room?”
Zhang Manhua found it strange. What was her daughter doing behind her back? Why did it sound like she was currently not at home and was somewhere else?
“Mom, I’m outside right now. How could I be at home all day?”
Ji Ziming pushed the door and entered right after she said this. Upon spotting her sitting on the sofa, he eyed her and mouthed, “I’ll wait for you.”
She nodded and continued listening to her mother’s voice on the phone.
“True. Then, tell me: Have you gotten any leads regarding your father’s actual murderer through that number you got?”
“No, mom; I haven’t gotten the chance to call that number yet before I received your call.”
Only then did the older woman realize that her daughter had not forgotten about her father’s death. She had almost misunderstood her daughter, thinking that the latter had set aside her responsibility to be lovey-dovey with her lover.
“Oh, right. Have you called Zhengrong? Does he know about Xiaoyu’s disappearance?”
“I did and decided to fly over and search for my best friend’s whereabouts myself.”
“Does this mean that he didn’t tell you anything?”
She was a little worried. That young lady had left without a word. Not to mention a call, she did not even reply to her texts.
It seemed that the only one who could find her was her boyfriend, yet he did not have a care about it.
“What should he be telling me? I called him, yet he did not even know that Xiaoyu had gone missing. He even told me not to worry about it.”
Pei Ge felt her temper rise at the mention of that guy. She had never seen a boyfriend like that. It was one thing to be busy; it was another thing not to care. There was a limit to his insensitivity. He should not treat his company as his home and push away his girlfriend.
“Does he think that this is not important?” asked her mother.
“Exactly what I said.”
The disdain in her eyes deepened.
The mother-daughter pair talked for a long time with different time zones. From Tang Xiaoyu’s disappearance to Pei Zhengan’s death, they combed through every detail together.
The one thing the younger woman was certain of was her uncle’s role in her father’s death being larger than what was mentioned. He might even have played a more despicable and wicked role compared to what he was letting on.
After she hung up, Ji Ziming walked over with eyes full of love. “I didn’t know that you were holding this much burden in your heart. If only I had found you earlier or if we had met sooner, perhaps none of those things would have happened to you.”
The woman was a little stunned. Subtle sunlight splayed on his fringe, making him glow with charisma. As she looked at his handsome features, she felt her heart melt because of the heartache in his eyes.
“You said that, no matter what happens, I have you.”
She stood up and stopped before him. Her arms then hugged his slender waist tightly. If time could stop, she wished to forget all those painful memories. She did not wish to find out about those lies, deceits, and schemes. She only wanted time to still right now while she hugged him and breathed in his familiar scent.
“You are truly a little fool. Why are you this stupid?”
His doting tone stopped the tears brimming in her eyes. With his large, white hand, he gently rubbed the top of her head. His eyes were full of love as he said, “You are my woman. I will let anyone who dares harm you pay for it. They will, one day, receive their just desserts.”
