Provocative Fiery Wife: My Superior is an Affectionate Spitfire - Chapter 1544
Chapter 1544: What sort of friendship are you telling me about?
“Yes, yes, yes. What the CEO said is right.”
He Xing followed the man and spoke in a subservient tone.
“Which interrogation room is Huang Zhian in?”
Pei Ge could not stand it anymore. Zhao Jingcheng left, but here came another one.
“Just right ahead; turn left at the end of this corridor, and that guy is in the first room.”
He Xing answered her question, the corners of his lips curling slightly. His gaze shifted from the man to this woman; if his superiors did not transfer him here from his original city, how would he be here? Old Lady Qu promised him that she would get him transferred back, but she had not taken any actions ever since then. In fact, that elderly woman had not come looking for him again.
“Alright. I understand.”
Pei Ge nodded and signaled to He Xing. “Thanks superintendent for the arrangement. As for Huang Zhian’s interrogation, I can manage on my own.”
“Aren’t madam afraid that that guy will—”
“If he dares to lay a finger on my wife, I can make today’s date be his death anniversary next year.” Ji Ziming interrupted the superintendent before the latter could finish asking his question.
In reality, he was slightly afraid that Huang Zhian would really do something to his woman. A criminal who was at a dead end would usually bet all on a throw and fight to capture someone beside him, whether he knew them or not, close or not. Humanity at the very last stage would usually not work.
“Yes, yes, yes. What sir said is right, but we’re still afraid of something happening. What if that guy acts against madam here; I’m afraid it’ll be—”
“If he really lays a finger on my wife, do you think I’ll let the men from your station get away?”
He coldly snorted; He Xing became more alert after hearing his response.
However, when Pei Ge entered the interrogation room, everyone heaved a sigh of relief. Their previous speculation was rendered invalid as the people guarding the entrance were in full gear. They seemed afraid of Huang Zhian doing something to her and ensured that they could get inside if ever something happened in the interrogation room.
“Pei Ge, you’re here.”
Huang Zhian looked up as the door to the interrogation room opened and the woman walked in a beige suit stepped inside. Her graceful figure, coupled with her slow footsteps, was just like the one in his memory yet not exactly the same.
“Mhm.”
Sitting opposite him, Pei Ge looked calmly at the guy who appeared nervous. He babbled his apologies but the woman merely waved them off. “Never mind it.”
He was in a daze for a moment as his brown eyes, which were previously clouded, started to clear up. “You’re not angry?”
“Why should I be angry?” The woman chuckled. It was as though the person whom he had plotted against was not her.
Her beautiful eyes shone like the stars in the sky as she turned to look at the one-way mirror in the interrogation room and knew that Ji Ziming was right there, taking charge of her safety. Even when she was framed by Huang Zhian, with the man by her side, she would forgive all that she should and should not forgive.
“I treated you like this and even manipulated your trust on me; how are you not angry? Don’t you wish for my death? With that, you’ll get it off your chest. Only like this can no one obstruct you in the Ji Group, as well as Red Star. You even have Ji Ziming; by then, will he agree to whatever you wish to do? Don’t forget what kind of person he is and what kind of person you are; have you ever thought about that?”
If Huang Zhian had said this before, it might have worked on her. That was because when she first met Ji Ziming, she really had nothing, but it was different now. She had three children, and although the man’s mother was currently not very pleased with her, she did not object to it as much as before. Their interaction was not as terrible as in the past, too.
“So? What do you think I should do then?”
She changed her sitting posture and smiled softly. Secretly, she was thinking if the man had gotten furious from hearing those words.
“I want you to get me out. We’re the same kind of person. Rest assured that I’ll treat you well. Although I don’t have your present man’s status and wealth, I genuinely like you. I admit that I got close to you before to get close to Ji Ziming, but I’ve only realized at this point that I truly like you. Only when you’re with me can I deal with that man.”
Huang Zhian appeared as though he had found a way to convince Pei Ge and spoke with confidence. “Pei Ge, don’t you want to know who’s the one behind me? If you get me out, I’ll be able to tell you. By then, no matter what you want to do, where you want to go, I can accompany you. I can bring you to scale mountains and look at snow. I’ll be able to satisfy everything you desire.”
Her lips curled. She had really miscalculated this time round.
“You already said that you don’t have Ji Ziming’s wealth and status; why should I be with you then?”
“We’re truly in love; don’t tell me that you think I’m an evil person, too? Give it a careful thought. Even though we didn’t keep in touch when I transferred schools in the past, I was really nice to you during our time together. Won’t you consider our friendship back then?”
“Friendship? You’re talking to me about friendship now?”
Pei Ge could not bear to listen anymore as Huang Zhian was way more hopeless than she had imagined. As much as she wanted to save him earlier, and even with Ji Ziming’s approval, she would not have such a thought in her heart again.
That was because this guy had truly driven into an impasse and was now willing to do anything, even hurting his loved ones, for a glimmer of hope.
“Don’t we have any friendship between us?”
Huang Zhian could not believe it. If there was no lingering friendship, why would this woman visit him and why would the police tell him that he would be put on bail if he treated either of the couple nicely.
“What friendship is there?”
For some reason, there was laughter deep down in Pei Ge’s heart, yet this laughter made her feel chilly from head to toe, especially the shiver down her spine which made her suspect who she was.
“We’re once middle-school classmates, and I was secretly in love with you then, but you’re unaware of it as your only focus was on studying. For fear of scaring you away with my feelings, I didn’t confess to you…”
The more Huang Zhian spoke, the more ridiculous it got. Pei Ge smiled at this from across the table, her beautiful eyes no longer holding that brilliance she had when she first entered the room. In place of it was a cold light.
